  1. Real money?! X-D Pfft! These Imperials can't even build their own ships, but instead take a leaf out of the Pirates' book by stealing, from the Pirates, no less! Nice job. Skelly-Killing Pirate-King SlyOwl
  2. TPAM doesn't understand that there is only 1 capital letter in Brickshelf. *sweet* SlyOwl The person below me smells funny. X-D
  3. Sweet! How is the whip done? - Brick-built or stringed-together round parts e.t.c...? SlyOwl
  4. It certainly is - look at *yoda* 's cones, on the turret/tower thing. Mine came with them too, although Bricklink and Peeron haven't yet recognised the difference... SlyOwl
  5. I'm reading the Castaways Of The Flying Dutchman trilogy by Brian Jaques - I had read the first 2, but when I got the third for Christmas, I needed to refresh my memory. After that, I'll be re-reading Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo to further my Japanese and then continue with my Where's Wally? marathon X-D I love it! SlyOwl
  6. Yes, slightly - it bothers me rather, and it looks like it bothers alex54 - I found this on his BS gallery by mistake... Apart from the top looking different, there are 4 "friction grips" (segments, if you're mathematically minded) on the inside of the cone rather than the old 2, probably to keep the barbs from falling out... SlyOwl
  7. What? How could you possibly sell any Lego?! X-O X-D Are you going to sell individual parts? - I only buy sets off eBay 'cos the sellers don't know thier stuff, so you get 'em cheap! ;-) SlyOwl
  8. Well, I got this set MISB for my birthday, 8 years late X-D . At ?3 ($6), it's pretty cheap - almost the same as the current impulse line, but with far more pieces...additionally, the box was so crammed full of pieces that it was difficult to open! Unlike the modern castle sets... |-/ so much for packaging reductions... Anyway, for ?3, you get a figure, Harry Cane, a ton of accesories and a decent sized inter-war era pontoon plane - it can land on rivers and lakes e.t.c - it completes the Adventurers aviation section - 2 biplanes, a pontoon plane, a zepellin and a hot air balloon. The box is nothing special, with all the alternate models (a boat and hovercraft - not great, but the part selection means you can build a lot extra) and action poses on the back of the instructions: Harry Cane, with accessories to the right and spare parts to the left: The plane is a lovely, simple build - after the second construction I could do it off by heart. The top wings are a little weak, but the sheer coolness of the propellors makes up for this - when you blow them, they turn! The cockpit is a little small, as is the windshield - his head pops out the top of the plane :-P . The pickaxe and spade clip onto the back of the engines in true Adventurers style - impractical but awesome! The storage compartment can fit all the accessories and spare parts at the same time! I was surprised that it contains 2 revolvers - most unusual! The only problem with the locker is that the binoculars and revolver tend to fall out if Harry isn't in his seat - it isn't sealed... |-/ This is a great set - cheap, full of the Adventurers' rough charm and very playable, as well as mega-swooshable and crashable! If some kind admin could add a poll... SlyOwl
  9. I voted MicVash. Why? Better photos and he must be truly great if he can discover the same gore techniques as me! Clicky - I used a snake here as flowing blood! Actually, looking back at it now, it seems he commented on it... Well done, and I'm sure you've deserved the win. Obviously. I rather like the idea of smackdowns, but not in the whack-a-fig style - not my, well, style... SlyOwl
  10. Welcome! What themes other than customisation are you in to? You'll like Agents perhaps... Clicky...basically a baby James Bond - boring spy fiction, IMHO... :-$
  11. With the likes of Market Street designed by Marc Bannerman, it would seem that open-sourced set designs are becoming a more common feature in the Lego world, the Blacksmith Shop in 2002 being the first, and then extending to others such as the Hobby Trains and Factory Competitions. However, rumour has reached my ears that in the near future, Lego Futura (where they design the sets) will cease to exist as LDD will take over completely, with each set simply being a modified for retail version of a submitted design. However, this change has not completely taken place (that is, if it will), as the LDD pallettes are not sufficient to construct entire themes. Lego Futura is an extremely secretive organisation, and so obtaining a job there is very difficult, although this signifies that it still exists and is operating. Does anybody have any information regarding this rumour? In the future will we be seeing more fan-designed sets? Will it extend beyond Creator and the Blacksmith shop? It seems like an unlikely business venture and would not practically or financially make any sense, but if someone could please dispell this rumour, I would be most grateful. SlyOwl
  12. My sister won this set in a "Spot Captain Hook's Hand In The Programme Raffle" at a Peter Pan ballet production and I obtained it soon after. It furthered my addiction to Adventurers hugely, being the only large set I had (the others being very small ones). It's a great set, but a shame I can't comment on the price. The flagship set for the range, and deservedly so. Before I got this set, I remember spending hours trying to figure out the mechanism used to flick the Pharoah out demonstrated in the catalogue...I used all manner of springs and elastic bands, so the final lever was rather a disappointment. Nevertheless, I still had the chance to figure out how the Temple Of Anubis traps worked - but now I had the figures, bar Harry Cane (I always find it funny how Sam Grant is driving Harry Cane's car - see the numberplate: "HC 514" X-D ). Sam Grant. Not Johnny Thunder. I'm very particular about that. I don't remember an axe coming with it though...maybe I lost it too soon 8-| You've got the wrong cup in the review...the standard open-handled one is the correct one... A poll perhaps? SlyOwl
  13. What he said. Grr! Bolding peoples' names is soooo annoying! X-D Welcome.
  14. The King is yet to speak or unveil his ship. Or finish it. It's a matter of honour to win this for me. Also the prize(s). X-O Pietje - ye'll need te fix yon link. SlyOwl
  15. There are lots of other canvas flags and the like in castle sets...especially for the Lions... A nice sail with corresponding flag: And 2 flags for the Royal Knights: And for the Bulls and Bats: These would all be great for custom ships...but I don't know if they belong here because they were never used in official ships...
  16. My sister thought up the name and there is a gorge thing (the sliff/ledge), so, y'know... ;-) Ye - the stove e.t.c are inside - all the ones you can't see in the photo or that don't appear outside... Thanks - I had some extreme trouble late on Christmas Eve trying to get through to the admins - I'm away at the moment (thank goodness my grandparents finally got a computer!) and I'm not a classic-castler, so didn't know this thread existed until I got an email about it today. Thanks anyway. Phew! I thought I was being excluded for being...well...me? SlyOwl
  17. Awesome! I can't really specify, but it's all soooo good! Nice to see the morion helmet back out! *wub* These are a huge improvement over the preliminaries! What happened to the camping one? SlyOwl
  18. Heehee, I got in! Umm...what's the point in this? Merry Christmas! SlyOwl
  19. 1x2x2 :-X The first time I saw this piece in King Leo's Castle (along with all the other <insert that tiresome argument> parts, especially the back "wall" *n* )...well, y'know... And Sinner, you missed this one: From Royal Knight's castle; I actually don't agree with CRAPPs - they make a set great and are very useful - I mean, c'mon, if it's used in Eldorado Fortress and IMTP, it can't be that <insert that tiresome argument>... Juniorization is horrible because it destroys the heart of a model - BURPs are useful in bigger sets, but not in small ones... Edit: I also have problems with: - why not an arch and 2 bricks? Just classic of KK2... Pointless... SlyOwl
  20. TPAM is another of those annoying people who have joined the EN! X-D
  21. For the trade and industry category: Cheddar Gorge! The hard-working labourers take the goats' milk, mix it, pour it, boil it and curdle it before seperating, moulding, maturing and then good ol' tasting! Then it's sold to travellers who come from far away to buy these Cheddars, Red Leicesters and Edams. Sorry Wallace, no Wensleydale! Comments, criticisms and all manner of cheesy puns welcome! X-D SlyOwl
  22. I got a mini Tie-fighter free at a club event at Windsor, and then the the same one came free with my Lego magazine that month - I have 2, and that's all the SW I own and probably will ever own... 8-| SlyOwl *must get out of this strange place*
  23. :-X Me? Chunky models, with smoooooth bits where it looks good... chunky(ish) peanut bitter with jam (condiment, =jelly, not "gelatin dessert" |-/ ) SlyOwl
  24. Here in England, you can only properly say "Season's Greetings" without fear of being prosecuted for political incorrectness :-P You all know it in English, but I'm learning Japanese: me-ri kurisumasu -Merry Christmas SlyOwl
