LEGO Star Wars Media Discussion - Spoiler Warning!
Max_Lego replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I unironically love this idea. Finally separating the masterpieces from trash by replacing the OT with crappy Sequel-esque remakes is something I can only welcome. At least, everyone shall see that there is no place for good movies in Disney's deranged, self-contradictory 'Canon'. 'Modern lightsaber duels' is my favourite part. Replace Vader and Ben's lore-accurate duel with something like this stupid video on YouTube, with Force-lifting and unnecessary powerful chopping blows, only because so-called "SW fans" hate watching lore-accurate lightsaber duels ("they aren't spectacular enough!")? Or, even better, make it look like Rey and Kylo's so-called "fight" in TROS! Overall, I believe such remakes would fit perfectly in Disney's so-called "lore", created by people who don't understand (and, most importantly, don't want to) how the Star Wars universe works After all, who needs those old, quality movies anymore? R1 fans? Prequel fans who mock the OT for 'crappy practical visuals' and contradicting their beloved meme-factories ("Leia remembers her mother? - Dumb!", "Darth Vader isn't a whiny psychopathic kid butcher? - Dumb!")? The Star Wars OT is indeed, a masterpiece from an time period when talented people could produce thought-out quality content. There's no place for such 'oldschool garbage" in the soyjack 21st century. Mod is welcome to ban me as always -

If what you are telling is true, then it's rather good news. I like cloth pauldrons, but they don't look screen-accurate enough. I hope that if the new ones look better, they would be affordable enough for me to replace cloth ones on my Sandtroopers -

Thanks! I hope so, even though I don't really know what scale my TIE Bomber actually is (approximately 1/32). I did use photos of the ILM studio model as a reference -
Thanks! The book is called "Star Wars: Incredible cross-sections"

LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

Alright, I think I should explain further: K2 openly states he didn't finish calculations. My main problem is not only the inconsistency between the OT and RO, but the gravity well theory, which explained hyperspace travel in the OT and was ruined by subsequent installments. SW may be an imaginary universe, but every imaginary universe has its rules, which shouldn't be subjects of violation for the sake of storytelling. I think you missed my point. In ANH, the Rebel supreme command determined the mission and instructed the pilots. Wedge doesn't believe in the mission's success, but he understands that "a good soldier follows orders" and obeys. In RO, they have a 'council', which consists of senators, generals, droids, pilots and technicians and makes decisions based on voting (?!). One character openly expressed unwillingness to confront the Empire (?!!! Aren't you an armed opposition?!). There is a significant difference between the two portrayals. My point was that the exhaust vent is too well-protected and hard to hit to be a deliberate flaw. It's heavily implied in ANH that had Luke used the computer, he would've failed just like Garven Dreis. Only the Force helped him succeed. There's no way Galen Erso could seriously count on Jedi assistance My opinion on the new U-wing is that, despite the obvious imperfections of the 2017 model, it was still more faithful to the source material -

Thanks for understanding and sorry for offending you. "The Empire was incompetent all along" explanation doesn't work for me. They had pretty good security measures on Endor in ROTJ. Bolvan didn't shoot the escape pod in ANH because droids are prohibited from using life pods. 3PO threatened R2 with deactivation. It's clear Rogue One is going to contradict the OT from the very opening scene, when we see moisture vaporators on a planet covered with water. Digging a water well would've made more sense. Also, to name a few: 1) The Death Star's exploits in RO make Taggi look like a complete idiot with his "until this battle station is fully operational, we are vulnerable" line 2) The jump into hyperspace from the surface of a planet without calculating destination coordinates makes Han Solo look like a complete idiot 3) The Rebellion's portrayal as a whole. Instead of the serious military organisation, focused on accomplishing victory in battle, we got a strange group of weirdos who cannot decide if they are fighting the Empire or not, yet are perfectly willing to kill Galen Erso for literally no reason (Imperial scientists may be very useful for the Rebellion alive) 4) There is no way the ray-shielded exhaust vent only a Jedi could hit while using the Force was a deliberate flaw, incorporated by a saboteur. Galen may have been desperate, but not to that point ...And so on... You may disagree with my points, but I thought I should make myself more clear. Again, sorry for being off-topic. I think I made my point As of TROS... Honestly, I don't know why it's so unpopular (I dislike it for different reasons). Besides, popularity is rather relative -

With such a fanbase, Star Wars will never die. A movie that directly and unambiguously spits inte the OT-established lore (be it technical or storytelling-wise moments) while masquerading as a respectful homage to ANH is so massively popular among fans - all because of said fan service. Lore consistency is the absolute least thing SW fans care about. Everyone cheers for Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba's cameo on Jedha, and absolutely no one cares how they got to Tatooine from there. The functionality of the Death Star, the violation of hyperspace-travelling rules, the humiliation of the Rebellion as an organisation, the insane lack of any security measures on top-secret Imperial facilities, Galen Erso's "Swiss watch" plan... Rogue One's popularity speaks for itself. Fan service is all that matters. And they wonder why so many people start actually believing that Star Wars were stupid from the very beginning... And it makes me sad, because almost EVERYTHING in the OT made perfect sense in context. And yes, I am perfectly fine with being banned from the forum. Sorry for typing all of this anyway -

Thanks for clarifying!

I have two rather silly questions: 1) Are the contest entries considered WIPs as long as we don't run out of time? Are we allowed to add text and images to our contest entries after we published them on the forum? 2) Is it OK to post photos of our entries on other forums after publishing them on Eurobricks while the contest is still running? Would it be a violation of the rules?

While I don't really think it was the worst (in fact, it's pretty hard for me to determine it), I don't like 2019. The introduction of the Family Guy Stormtrooper helmet, the refusal to use the 2018 Rebel pilot helmet mold any further, the disappearance of printed oxygen tubes on the TIE pilot's helmet, new Snowtrooper, Hoth Rebel trooper and Ben Kenobi minifigures that were downgraded compared to their 2014 versions - these are some of that year's decisions made by TLG that still have a rather negative impact on the Lego Star Wars theme. On a positive note, 2019 also gave us a new awesome Scout trooper and Captain Antilles minifigures (tough an affordable version of the latter only appeared in 2024), as well as the first ESB and ROTJ Imperial lieutenant (albeit in an expensive UCS Star Destroyer set) and Zuckuss. The 75246 Death Star cannon, while containing a rather lazy Ben Kenobi minifigure, was still a nice set. I quite love the previous 2018 year, the last year with 2014 Stormtrooper helmets. 75204 Sandspeeder had a new Rebel helmet from ANH, 75205 Mos Eisley cantina and 75221 Imperial landing craft had nice Sandtrooper minifigures; 75203 Hoth Medical Chamber, 75208 Yoda's hut and 75218 X-wing were great sets overall; the Solo movie-based sets were nice too (and I am even not a fan of the movie), 75211 TIE fighter in particular had the one and only almost perfect TIE pilot minifigure (with beforementioned oxygen tubes printed on the helmet!). I can't decide if I consider 2018 the best Lego Star Wars year, but it was pretty solid IMO Edit: the best (most screen-accurate) Hoth Rebel trooper minifigure was realised in 2016, not 2014

[M4-25 - Asymmetrical] - Sienar TIE/sa Bomber
Max_Lego replied to Max_Lego's topic in Watto's Junkyard
Thank you very much! Well... To be honest, this is pure coincidence! I based my pilot minifigure off the guy seen in the TIE Bomber cockpit in the "Incredible cross-sections" book, and it still uses a different torso (Rebels TIE pilot torso) and plain legs. Still a fun coincidence though! Thanks for noticing! -

First introduced in the 1980 movie "Episode V: Empire strikes back", the rather bizarre two-pod TIE Bomber was the third TIE spacecraft model in the Original Trilogy. It could be seen flying past a Star Destroyer during the first Imperial March scene. Later in the movie two Bombers are shown bombing the surface of a large asteroid while searching for the Millennium Falcon. The TIE Bomber also briefly showed up in the 1983 movie "Episode VI: Return of the Jedi", hanging under the hangar ceiling during Darth Vader's arrival on the Death Star. Overview While the Imperial Star Destroyer was designed for massive orbital turbolaser bombardment (not unlike real-life battleships), the TIE Bomber was intended for precise attacks on relatively small and isolated objects on a planet's surface, but it also could attack enemy capital ships with missiles. It appears to have been derived (both in-universe and IRL) from the TIE Boarding Craft, another twin-pod spaceship designed by Sienar. The troop pod was refitted to carry, drop and launch bombs and homing missiles. Since the spacecraft wasn't intended for manoeuvrable dogfights and was already heavy because of the payload, life support and armour plating were added. TIE Bomber pilots still wore spacesuits though, albeit with open helmets not unlike the Rebels (I presume that they could be enclosed fast before the ejection). Apparently, the bent solar panel configuration didn't allow the craft to stand on a flat surface, for it was seen hanging under the hangar's ceiling in ROTJ. A heavy variant of the Bomber, known as 'Punisher', existed; it had four weapon pods instead of one, larger solar panels and was equipped with shield generators. Comparing the TIE Bomber with the BTL-A4 'Y-wing' Comparing the Imperial bomber to the Rebel one is trickier than comparing fighters, since bombers rarely (if ever) interact with each other in combat. The Y-wing's advantages are the presence of shields and rotating turret (I'd also personally add the ability to fly in a planet's atmosphere - something the TIE Bomber, physically speaking, shouldn't be capable of - but the guys at Lucasfilm don't seem to care about such 'insignificant' things), while the TIE Bomber seemingly carries more weapons, has better targeting equipment, and its pilot has got a space suit as opposed to the G-suits worn by Rebels. But the essential thing that makes a bomber efficient, as proven by WWII, is, of course, fighter escort. No bomber shall effectively accomplish its mission without being protected by fighter escort. Here comes the interesting part: as seen in ESB, the TIE Bombers are escorted by TIE Fighters (albeit the fighters are weirdly flying in front of the bombers) even when they are seemingly threatened by only one Rebel ship (the Falcon), while on the Rebel side... We all know what happened to the Y-wings' trench run in ANH. Sure, the X-wing pilots didn't know about Vader and his wingmen, but they should've at least been precautious... The build This Lego TIE Bomber turned out to be sturdier than I expected - at least, more solid than my TIE Interceptor MOC, - and probably could even be played with, albeit very carefully. Front view: Upper view: Rear view: The thing that I didn't like in most existing Lego TIE Bomber MOCs was the lack of a working bomb chute, so designing it was my first intention. The finished result is pretty much like a piggy bank: by removing the upper 1x8 tile, you can drop a round 1x1 tile inside the pod, with the 'bomb' dropping exactly from the chute underneath: Below view: The cockpit is equipped with a seat and fits a pilot minifigure: Thanks for watching! I hope you liked my model of the TIE Bomber. And as always, May the Force be with you!

I have a question. I intend to use my M4 content build for my potential Mysteries entry. Will it be OK if if I publish my contest entry soon and the Mysteries one later, after our home planet is determined? Or the build is going to be rather outdated by that moment? Or perhaps I got it wrong, and there aren't really 'outdated' builds for Mysteries... -

I'd rather like to have some of the so-called "Army troopers" minifigures (if they are ever going to be realised), I'd just call them somehow differently. Civilian SWAT teams, for example (Patrol troopers being the military police) -

Formidable build! It captures the original scene from the movie quite well. I love how the smaller-scaled odium fits perfectly with the minifigure-scale balcony box, creating a perspective effect
