  1. I was cleaning my room and found some Bionicle pens from 2001/2002. Makes me sad Bionicle probably won't get this kind of promotional treatment this time around...
  2. The eyebrows add so much. Completely change the figures.
  3. It's weird. During its run, I didn't have a problem with the proportions in Bionicle. But now with the better proportioned Hero Factory figures, I look back on Bionicle sets and realize how awkward some look. Glad CCBS is sticking around.
  4. I prefer a face attachment. But if they have molded mouths on the mask, then I'll be fine with a top connection.
  5. Yes. So much yes. Going to build the Scorpion Beast pronto! EDIT: Built it. Actually quite nice. The claws are a little weirdly positioned, and the front legs attach to its back, but it looks pretty cool. I'd say its worth your time. Though I was sad to see it needs pieces from Spider Machine. I know it's part of the Queen Beast set, but it makes the scorpion not feel like a pure Beast combiner.
  6. I never said I define masks and helmets by how they attach. Like you said, masks cover the face. Helmets protect the head. And this is how I define the two as well. When it comes to sets, the same applies. And this also relates to the most likely scenarios on how they attach. A helmet, by definition, protects the head. So, the set needs to convey that. And the only way to cover the entire head is to have it slip over the top. Connection on top. Splitface is an exception due to what the set needs to accomplish. But in the end, it still serves the same purpose as a helmet that attaches on top, that being all around head protection. Masks, by definition, cover the face. So the mask in a set only needs to accomplish this. Best way? Attach it to the front. Yes, there are oddballs in this. Inika Masks, Teridax's mask, and Glatorian Mata Nui's Ignika, to name a few. These are still masks simply because the story tells us so. Otherwise, they are more so helmets than masks. From 2001-2004, all sets wore masks that connected in the same fashion(with the exception of Teridax). Folks who followed the story knew that all the characters wore masks, so it would be safe to assume Terry wore a mask as well. 2006 had the Inika, and the same applied (same goes for all oddball masks. By the time they were introduced, we could all safely assume they were wearing masks like everyone else). "So why don't they attach from the top and have the story say they're masks" you ask? If Lego wants to make a toy line about characters who wear masks, why would they make masks that attach on top? Most kids would look at the sets and say, "that's a helmet, not a mask." The Frankenstein mask you linked to is definitely a mask, but that's because we know that it's not made of metal or any sort of material that would protect your head and thus consider it a helmet. But such things would be hard/impossible to convey in a set. How do you show that a helmet-like piece is supposed to be a mask? You don't. The only way would be to explain it in the story. Now with the reboot, why take that extra step when you can just mold the piece so it's clearly not a helmet?
  7. When there are two connection points, and two types of head coverings, things that attach on the front would more generally be considered masks, while things that slip over the head would be helmets. Everyone (except Makuta) wore a mask that connected to the front of the face. Then the Glatorian showed up. They wore helmets, and the piece slipped over the head. And it made sense. Plus, masks in general (regardless of real life attachment) cover the front of your face whereas helmets slip over and cover your head. To me, it wouldn't make sense to design a piece that's supposed to be a mask that attaches to the top of the head or a helmet that attaches to the front of the face.
  8. Looking at Tahu, there's definitely appears to be something on his back. Plus, his upper body seems fairly thick, so I wouldn't worry too much. At least for the large sets. Personally, I hope the back armor is silver or some shade of grey just to reference the gear that was on the Toa Mata's backs.
  9. Darn. You figured me out. :P As Aanchir said at the top of the page (and originally in reply to a post of mine), it's due to the age ranges which can be seen in the colored image we got. But I agree. They all look so similar. And I can't figure out where the pieces to merit a higher price would go on the set. Plus, why would they make the main heroes a higher price if we know that smaller sets sell better? Hopefully the color picture is still preliminary enough that not even the age ranges are finalized.
  10. If Hero Factory's price layout is anything to go by, the Defenders will be 10, Small Toa will be 15, and Large Toa/other titans will be 20-25. But I still just can't imagine them making half the Toa a higher price. Maybe we'll see a new price point? Like, 12 for small Toa? Or better yet, 5 for Defenders. To the post above me: I was (and still am) under the impression that Chima was doing well enough to keep going (meeting expectations and the like), but definitely not on the caliber of Ninjago.
  11. Thing is, HF Heroes are built in a factory and can get upgraded to larger sizes. Toa are all the same species or whatever, and they should all be roughly the same height. Not to mention, if there are titan-sized Heroes, it'd be hard to make larger, imposing villains. On the flip side of this, the more I think about it, I don't think I'd really mind different sizes. It gives you more potential and variety for Toa. You can have tall guys, and you can have short guys.
  12. Aha. I just find it weird that the Toa would be divided by size classes. But maybe some variety would do some good.
  13. Went to the Lego Store on Friday. Couldn't help myself and got the whole lot. Only built the Drill Machine and the Rocka Crawler. Both are fun, but still warming up to the crawler's strange pose-ability. Toys R Us has the sets in stock as well, but Walmart and Target do not. Though I'm not surprised considering their Hero Factory stock in recent days.
  14. Tahu and Kopaka are definitely taller. But I'm still having a hard time believing they'll be more expensive/titan sized. Do taller sets automatically mean a higher price?
  15. Wow. That looks great. Wondered how the torso shells would look as leg armor, and it's not too bad.
  16. Are we sure there're two size classes for the Toa. All the packaging (for the Toa, at least) seems the same size to me. I see Defenders being small, all the Toa being medium, and the LOSS a large set.
  17. Well. That's an option. Still, Stony and Pohatu will be the first I build.
  18. They probably saw the internet explode, so they changed it back. Not that it really matters. There's evidence enough to say it's coming back. Also, I've decided that once these sets come out, the Stone Defender and Pohatu will be the first ones I get. Just for old time's sake considering the first Bionicle sets I got were Turaga Onewa and Pohatu.
  19. Not really too excited about the coming soon page considering I was already well convinced it was returning. Just adds to the "further confirmation" list, I guess.
  20. Yeah, I saw LegoJang's (JangBricks. Whatever)review on it, and it doesn't look too bad. Kinda want to get it just so I can make an opinion. I'll get it eventually, just don't know when.
  21. Excellent! Good to hear they're popping up places aside from Lego Stores. Even though I'm still unsure which ones I should pick up first...
  22. I could take a whack at it. Been wanting to draw some of these updated Toa anyway.
  23. So now that SDCC is over, when's NYCC?
  24. So long as we get good art and story, I'll be set. Also, I love how he just flat out says without warning "we are working on issue 1 for 2015 now". Made me chuckle.
  25. Looking at the sets again. Noticed Lewa has silver and gold on his lower leg, and I can't really tell what piece it would be. New add-on? Seems to be a lot of new pieces on these sets. Also, does anyone else love how vibrant these packages are? They're all so bright and colorful. I can tell right away these are going to pop on the selves.
