Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
psqidexslizer replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
There’s no way Daredevil is getting CMF representation. The series is TV-MA (yes, I know Echo got a figure, but the series also changed its rating at the last second). So unless he’s featured in YFNSM, Bulleye is probably out. Daredevil and Kingpin could be the She-Hulk and Hawkeye versions, but I could also see Lego deciding to skip them to avoid appearing to promote a TV-MA series. -

Cap 4 set has leaked. Image quality is pretty bad, so it’s hard to make anything out. -

From what I understand (I believe one of the designers for either the Daily Bugle or Avengers Tower explained this) the number of printed pieces they make isn’t a cost issue, it’s a space issue. Every new element Lego makes needs to be stored somewhere in their factory. So every new torso needs at least one new bin. Legs need at least one new bin. The cost of a new print isn’t the issue, it’s the space they have available to store pieces. So, when designing figures, the designers have two options 1) include less characters, but characters with greater detail 2) include less detailed characters, but more of them. It seems like they try to usually strike a balance between the two. Take the X-Mansion as an example. Most of the figures have a lot of detailing, but they cut the corners on a handful of them (Gambit and Cyclops’ legs, for example) . But that comes at the cost of less characters, and people here were complaining about that. The only other thing they could do would be to release less sets per year, which wouldn’t make sense for them since releasing less sets would cut into their profits. And I’m sure people would be mad about that too because it would mean less of what people want Lego to cover would actually get covered. -

I’ll call it out when it’s appropriate. Cyclops should have had dual molded legs. Same with Gambit. Same with Magneto, who also needed printing. Spider-Man and Red Hulk should have dual molded legs (especially since the right pieces already exist). Black Panther’s legs are just plain black legs. He doesn’t need printing. Same goes with Venom and Miles and just about everyone in the three sets that leaked today who didn’t already have dual molded or printed legs. I agree Lego cuts corners on many of its figures. Black Panther isn’t one of them. -

Black Panther’s legs are literally just plain black. No way he needs printing. I agree on the dual molded legs for Red Hulk and Spider-Man. Don’t see why Red Hulk would need printing. -

I was strictly talking about the upcoming wave. Every figure who needed leg printing got it. -

Who else needs printed legs who doesn’t have them? Venom’s legs are plain black. Miles legs are plain black (except the soles of his feet which Lego can’t print on anyway). Black Panther has plain black legs. Miles dad doesn’t need printed legs. I’ll give you that Red Hulk and Spider-Man should have had dual molded legs, but the majority of these plain legs are perfectly fine. -

These are gonna be a pass for me. We’ve gotten better versions of Red Hulk and Black Panther and I don’t care for the designs in the Spider-verse set. -

Not just two minifigures, but two exclusive minifigures with new prints (even if it is only a helmet for Iron Man). And that’s true even on the DC side. I really hope it continues. I’d love to get an Antman mech with Wasp (comic or preferable EMH for both), a Vision mech with Scarlet Witch (comic for both), a GL mech with Hal and John (Guy and Kyle would also be great substitutes for either or both). Heck, even updated versions of Captain America and Red Skull in a Captain America mech would make my day. -
I really don’t see either one of them happening. 1) They’re obscure, much more than Daredevil or Punisher, who have both appeared in their own tv series on Netflix and have had their own comic runs. 2) They’re much less family friendly. Daredevil and Punisher have most of their content these days aimed at mature audiences. Punisher is even a murderer (which only seems to be an issue for some characters). But, Pyg mutilates his victims turning them into sexless, mindless zombies. Zsasz carves a tally mark into his skin for every person he kills. And it’s not like these are just one off stories or even things only some versions of the character does (like Mad Hatter being a child molester, which is probably why we haven’t seen him yet but could in a 18+ set). It’s the core of who they are as characters. And I don’t see Lego crossing the line with mutilation (self or otherwise) even in a 18+ set.

Just for fun (and so we can all be disappointed later on) I put together a hypothetical minifigure list for a comic based Arkham Asylum (obviously we’re not getting this, but it’s fun to dream). Batman (reuse) Robin (Damien) (new head, new torso)(reuse from summer sets) Batgirl (new torso, new cowl)(reuse from summer sets) Red Robin (new cowl, new torso) Nightwing (new torso, new head) Spoiler (new head, new torso) Azrael (new head, new torso Joker (reuse) Mr Freeze (reuse) Harley Quinn (reuse) Two Face (new torso, reused head from Tumbler) Riddler (new head, new torso) Scarecrow (new head, new torso) Poison Ivy (new torso) Mad Hatter (new torso, new hat) Clayface (bigfig) Commissioner Gordon (new head, purist body) Harleen Quinzel (new head, new torso) Jonathan Crane (purist) Harvey Bullock (purist) Rene Montoya (purist) Aaron Cash (purist) Guard (purist) x3 I know it seems like a lot of figures, but there’s actually less new prints than the X-Mansion because the figures are far less detailed (because they don’t need it) and use a lot more recycled parts. (Also, I am assuming a few characters will be introduced in one of the sets over the summer that can be reused here).

Yes. I will officially confirm it. The set will include Batman, Joker, and not enough other people to make anyone happy. The price will be too high. The building will be too small. Everyone will hate it, and it will sell out within the first five minutes. GWP will be an GCPD car with Commissioner Gordan (all reused pieces). That last part is a Jonkler prank, don’t believe it unless it turns out to be true. I will be dropping more leaks later this weekend. Stay tuned!

Ultron looks great, and so does that new helmet for Iron Man. Huge improvement over the other one. The helmet is new. I think the torso and legs are reused, but it’s hard to tell. If they are new, they’re not much different from the one we’ve been getting. -

Sure, there’s no rule. But I can’t see Lego cannibalizing their own sales by pumping out several super hero modular buildings per year. Plus, these buildings always include a large number of new figures and prints (yes, even the X-Mansion, before we get back to people whining that we didn’t get enough). There’s a limit on how many new prints (and therefore how many figures) they can introduce per year and introducing a second modular means they would have to include less figures or include more repeats meaning each modular would suffer. And there’s only so many buildings they can adapt. If they double up the number, they’ll run out twice as fast. It makes much more sense to keep it as a yearly release. -
I’d lean towards it being BtAS based, except that building is just kinda dull. It’s literally just a big box in the distance. Comic based would give them a lot more freedom to make a cool design. Also, there’s not really any benefit from a minifigure standpoint. If it’s BtAS based they can recycle Joker, Batman, Harley, and Mr Freeze. Three of those already have comic based variants on the shelves and BtAS Harley (the one exception) is basically just comic Harley anyways. Plus there’s a comic based Batgirl (as much as we all want a better version of her than the one that is available). Plus, comic based gives them a lot more freedom in terms of character selection (not that being ‘97 based stopped Iceman from making it into the X-Men Mansion) and more opportunities for fun Easter Eggs.

We’re getting one movie based set next year (non-legacy, that is). Fantastic Four vs Galactus sounds like it’ll be comic based. Thunderbolts isn’t getting any sets. Thus, it seems likely there’s another Fantastic Four set based on the film. As it should be! 😝 -

The same argument could also apply to the X-Mansion, and yet that goes on sale in a little over a week. -

It looks like Arkham Asylum is coming next year over on the DC side of things. It’d make sense given that it’s a large building that it’d end up being next year’s modular. So odds are Baxter Building is out of the question, unless it’s a smaller set. Which makes me wonder what the D2C will be for Marvel next year. Maybe a remake of the Helicarrier? 🤔 -

Another example, we get three buildable figures for Marvel per year but at most only one for DC. -
If Arkham does happen and it’s a D2C, odds are it’ll be bigger than any version we’ve gotten to date, but I can also personally guarantee it won’t be big enough or include enough characters to make most of us happy (just look at the reaction to the X-Mansion 😬). And that’s regardless of whether it’s a modular building or a standalone building like Rivendell and Balad-Dur. I hate how instagram cuts off part of the video. 😡 Yep, this seems to be our first real confirmation we are getting a new Arkham. I wonder if it’ll be comic or BtAS based. 🤔
