  1. I think the basic idea is don’t tread into topics that are controversial and will cause fights to break out. In essence, if it has to do with politics or religion, steer clear. So, for example, if you point out that the Ice Age films are historically inaccurate, that’s probably ok. If you point out that the Lego Roman gladiator is historically inaccurate, probably ok. If you say that Jesus was a cannibal and a Nazi (just using this as an example), you’re gonna cause a lot of fighting, so don’t say that. Also, if things start to get heated in any conversation, it’s probably best for everyone to just be adults about it, agree to disagree and just end the conversation instead of fighting about it for seven pages.
  2. Did you ever hear the tragedy of Lego MB Asylum~Roleplay?
  3. Nobody wants to be here. This is just where the mods stuck the crazies.
  4. Yeah. How disappointed we all are. 😂
  5. New Watto is too complicated. Too many colors. It hurts my eyes. I want to play with Legos, not go to one of those modern “art” exhibitions.
  6. Abe Lincoln? More like Gigachad Lincoln!
  7. Dinosaurs were created by the toy companies to boost sales, so I don’t see why that would count as history.
  8. Still better than a buildable figure.
  9. No Superman movie sets. Lex Luthor gets a highly detailed figure while Superman is underdesigned. Superman needs a mech to fight Lex, making him appear the weaker of the two Five years since our last Superman set Guys, what if Lex Luthor secretly owns Lego? 🤔
  10. I’m just gonna leave this here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sturmabteilung
  11. I have seen it. It came to me in a dream.
  12. Batman Returns is a film about isolation and loneliness and seasonal depression around the holidays. That’s the common theme that ties all the characters together. Oswald was neglected as a child and grew up alone and isolated and now he’s bitter and resentful. Both Bruce and Selina are lonely and end up getting together out of their shared loneliness only to wind up alone and depressed again. Shrek is a twisted parental figure/Santa Claus to both Oswald and Selina who acts like he’s giving to everyone while only taking. Heck, Oswald’s entire arc is about finding a new parental figure only to suffer the same abuse and betrayal he felt from his real parents and it’s tragic. It’s a film about people suffering from abuse and loss and their struggle with depression during the holiday season. The film literally ends with Batman mourning the loss of Selina in the snow. How much more explicit must this film be with its message? Edward Scissorhands is about the sadness of losing a loved one that people experience during the holidays. Their story is literally about a grandmother reminiscing about a teenage crush she ended up losing around Christmas because he didn’t fit in. Meanwhile, Edward is still alone thinking about her and carving her out of snow remembering the good times they had. They’re not uplifting Christmas movies, rather they’re movies about the other side of the holiday season. They’re movies about the people who feel alone at Christmas. About the people who are unloved at Christmas. They’re about people that are missing loved ones at Christmas. You couldn’t set these films during any other time of year without losing something significant. Sure, they’re depressing, but that’s the point. Not everyone is joyful at Christmas, and sometimes the spirit of the season only makes it worse. Now, compare that to Die Hard and Home Alone. What would be lost if Home Alone was set during, IDK, spring break and Die Hard was set on a Tuesday. Absolutely nothing. These aren’t Christmas movies. These aren’t films about Christmas. They’re films that were set during Christmas to boost sales. But not Batman Returns and Edward Scissorhands. Those are movies about Christmas that wouldn’t have the same impact if they were set at another time of the year. Nope. We won’t be seeing those for a while. Set doesn’t come out until summer (I think someone mentioned June, but don’t quote me on that).
  13. …but Batman Returns and Edward Scissorhands both are and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
  14. Not for DC. The dawn killed the franchise.
  15. I’ll do you one better. Why is this ‘optimism’ of which you speak? I wouldn’t give up just because we’re getting nothing for DC’s ‘revival’. It took until 2015 until we were regularly getting sets for MCU movies and Marvel had a much better track record at that point than DC has now. Let’s not forget DC is coming off of several years of box office disasters. Do you really blame Lego for not going all in without knowing if this revival is going to work?
  16. This debate is pointless. Yes, Palpatine is a fascist. Yes, he is evil. Yes, I am 100% on his side. End of debate.
  17. Hot take: turning people into dinosaurs is based af.
  18. They’re also starting the DCU with Superman, Supergirl, and The Green Lanterns. The only reason Waller, Creature Commandos, and Peacemaker are happening this early in the slate is they were already in production before the reboot. But also, I really don’t see any issue if they were starting with just those three. The recognizability of the character is less important than the quality going into the project. And seeing as how James Gunn helmed the highly popular GotG series and helped shape phase 3 of the MCU, arguably their best and most popular phase. And seeing as how he managed to turn out a critically acclaimed movie and a successful streaming series for DC, I think they’re in good hands. Certainly better than the hands they’ve been in since Nolan left. As far as Wonder Woman is concerned, she just had two movies and the actress was still rather liked in the role. It’s better to get some distance and a Wonder Woman prequel show is a good way to set her up while giving themselves some distance.
  19. What a bizarre complaint. More than half of your obvious choices are getting something. Superman is getting a movie. Batman is getting a movie. Green Lantern is getting a show. Wonder Woman is getting a prequel show. Flash just had a movie that bombed, so it’s not all that surprising he’s not here (though there’s also been rumors he’s getting a show). Not to mention we’re getting a movie for Supergirl, who the general audience is well familiar with. Then you’ve got Amanda Waller and Peacemaker who most people will be aware of thanks to the Suicide Squad movies. Booster Gold and Swamp Thing aren’t household names, but they’re fairly well known among comic book fans. Of the eleven projects announced, the only ones to feature obscure characters nobody knows about are Creature Commandos (a direct tie-in to The Suicide Squad) and The Authority (which looks like it’ll tie into Superman). Also, let’s not pretend the MCU didn’t start off with a bunch of obscure characters. And yet they were a huge success. Meanwhile the DCEU started off with a Superman movie, a Batman/Superman movie, a Suicide Squad that had Joker plastered all over the marketing, a Wonder Woman movie and a Justice League movie, and their whole franchise was a disaster from the start. So clearly there’s more to building a cinematic universe than just throwing characters people recognize up on the screen.
  20. Multiple leakers have said Fantastic Four is the only superhero movie that will get a set. If you want to speculate about potential Superman sets, go ahead. Heck, maybe they’re all mistaken. It’s happened before. Just don’t be surprised if we don’t get anything.
  21. No need for speculation. We’re getting none.
  22. I love how it looks like Joker just stole $100 from Two-Face and now Batman is kicking his megablocks. Perfect summary of the movie.
  23. Deadpool is basically the poster child of everything parents deem inappropriate for children. Peacemaker has all the same issues as Deadpool, but I also think he’s still obscure enough that parents wouldn’t know who he is. But I could also see Lego not wanting to risk the backlash for a character who has a cult following at best. Circe’s biggest issue, IMO, is her outfit. But we did just get slave Leia, so there does seem to be some wiggle room. But I think most everyone else in these R-rated projects would be fine and the only things holding them back are 1) being in an R-rated project which Lego doesn’t want to be associated with and 2) being in a DC project which are notorious box office duds.
