Imagine if they did Morph with legs that are perfect for Cyclops, except they’re dark blue. 😭 -

I wonder if this is a tease for what The Thing looks like in next years set. Gambit is also in this. Torso print looks to be the same. Legs are unfortunately not. Also, would love to get that Vision. -

I agree with a lot of the criticisms for the Mansion, I like it, I think it looks good, but there’s three things I would have done differently (and they’re all probably corporate meddling rather than decisions made by the designers). 1. I don’t think this set should have been a modular styled building. The Xavier Institute is not a building on the city streets. It’s in the middle of the country. The sidewalk out front does not make sense. And the issues with the cramped interior all stem from trying to tie it in with the other modular buildings while trying to make it look like it’s in the country. I get why Lego probably wanted it to continue their modular line, but it would have been better as a standalone building like Rivendell. 2. The Sentinel should have been released separately as a set over the summer. Not only would that have freed up more parts for the mansion, but also, they could have spread the figure budget out more. Again, this was probably a decision by the higher ups not to release more than two X-Men sets this year. 3. Cyclops should have had yellow legs instead of blue. If they’re not going to give him dual molded legs, at least get the boots and trunks the right color. It would have been cheaper too since they wouldn’t need to print yellow on the hips. And, again, this seems to be a result of Lego’s bizarre and inconsistent rule about yellow legs. On a more positive note, I disagree fully with the criticism of Xavier. Yes, he’s purist. But that doesn’t mean he looks bad. Frankly, I think he looks great. Jean also looks great. Magento’s torso looks like it’ll be an improvement over the 2012 just because they actually remembered his belt this time. The new cape for Storm is great. Most of the minifigures look great, with only the legs holding the mixed bags back (not you Rogue. You need the CMF treatment stat). Now, as for the line itself, I think the Legacy sets might have been the worst thing to happen to the theme. The sets have been hit or miss (I’d argue more miss), they haven’t delivered much that’s new (how many Endgame Final Battle dioramas can they possibly make?), and it’s seems to be preventing them from exploring anything new. This year we got two X-Men sets. Next year, they’re not even covering all the movies. If it weren’t for the mechs and the Fantastic Four set, we wouldn’t be getting any new characters. I’m sure the downfall of the MCU hasn’t helped matters, but if we’re gonna be stuck with sets based on phases 1-3, is it too much to ask for them to cover something new instead of just remaking old sets with mixed results? It’s sad when DC is shaping up to deliver a more diverse lineup. As far as X-Men, I think there’s a lot of potential for future sets. Just based off the first season of ‘97, we could get: - buildable Sentinel - Sinister’s Lab - Motendo battle - Shiar spaceship I’d also love to see them do a X-Mansion in the same style as the modular Harry Potter Hogwarts sets we’ve gotten over the past several years (same thing with Arkham, but that’s for another thread). And, of course, there always mechs and cars like Spider-Man and Iron Man seem to get despite it not making any sense. -

Especially weird considering the figure already exists and it’s not like they haven’t thrown CMF figures into large sets before. -

The movie itself is the dumpster. And while we’re on that subject, I still can’t get over how bafflingly bad Cyclops legs are. They could have easily printed blue on yellow and given us pretty near perfect legs for him. Instead, they made his legs solid blue with yellow printing. Including on the hips. Such a bizarre and terrible decision that could have so easily been avoided if they didn’t have bizarre and inconsistent rules about yellow legs. -

That’s fine by me. No point in wasting the print budget on the bald guy in a suit. -

TheBrickReporter has an image of how the Mansion splits apart. You can sort of make out the room. Looks like a main hall bottom center, library bottom right, mission room top center, medical bay top right, and danger room on the left. And behind the library is a reference to the 2019 Dark Phoenix film. Gambit has leaked. He really needs dual molded legs and a different hairpiece, but otherwise he looks good. -

So Bruce/Nick in the logo just ended up being Hulk? I’m dead. -

The Mansion looks great, but dear god, some of those minifigures desperately need help. Jean and the Prof look great. Iceman and Bishop I need to see more of, and Storm has a new cape with printed lines which is fantastic. But dear lord, what are they doing with Gambit, Cyclops, and Magento? Magneto looks great from the waist up and Cyclops and Gambit would too if it weren’t for the strange hair choices. But those legs?! I didn’t expect Magneto to get boots, but no undies?! And what is going on with Cyclops?! They printed yellow on his hips! They could have just used a yellow hip piece instead of a blue one, but they went out of their way to make it blue so they’d have to print it yellow. Such a bizarre decision. The Mansion and Sentinel are both fantastic, but I honestly wish we got a few less characters if it meant better quality for the ones we did get. -

I am not crazy! I know Lego cancelled that Malibu Mansion! I knew it was set to release this April. 73617, one after Fantastic Four. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. They - they covered their tracks, they got those idiot at Lego Leaks Reddit to lie for them. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? They’ve done worse. Klarion the Witch Boy! Are you telling me that a publisher just happens to name drop him like that? No! They orchestrated it! Lego! They cancelled the Temple of Doom! And I buy them! And I shouldn't have. I took them into my own home! What was I thinking? They’ll never change. They’ll never change! Ever since I was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep the Bionicle line going! But not our Lego! Couldn't be precious Lego! Robbing us blind! And they get to charge $80 for a 400 piece set!? What a sick joke! I should've stopped them when I had the chance! And you - you have to stop them! -

What if Lego says “X-Men, what a joke” and rebrands the set as Malibu Mansion in FanKlockow’s honor? -

Does it bother anyone else that Gambit (who can’t fly) is floating above the mansion while Rogue (who can fly) is just standing there on the ground? -

10 days until the X-Mansion is officially revealed. I wonder if we’ll get a fifth leaked image before that happens.
