  1. "Crying shame. You know when to pick your battles though, so that's always a plus. What brings you to Goland, anyway?"
  2. QM Note: The numbers individually, not added. But as soon as you get something equal to or between those two numbers - or get the wrong tide - it's game over.
  3. QM Note: I pick using a RNG. The cards are merely so it makes sense in universe: the numbers themselves are just generated. In other words, equal chance of getting any card.
  4. Picking up on darksten's signal, Crowley snuffs out the bugs. "Disgusting little buggers. No pun intended." 6/13 bugs crushed! The party clambers down the stairs, throwing open the door... And finds themselves in the kitchen. It was probably the nicest part of the shelter, although that wasn't saying much. Dirty dishes line the sides, some of them broken and moldy. In the center is an island of sorts, complete with a rusty cauldron for boiling water and a small area for lighting fires. Along the side of the wall sits a large pantry. On a shelf, 3 odd spices sit. What will the party do?
  5. "It's a game of chance, but there's gold to be made, miss. Judging by how short of a trip this is, you'lll probably only be able to squeeze in 2 games for each of ya, max. After that, we're dockin'." The deck hand pulls out a stack of cards and sets them on the table, and begins his explanation. ~High Tide, Low Tide~ -There is a deck of cards, each card being randomly numbered, 1 through 25. -The Deckhand picks two cards, and then the participating hero picks 1. -A coin is then flipped to decide whether it is High Tide or Low Tide (50/50 chance). -If the coin lands on High Tide, and the hero's card is larger than the the deck hand's cards, the hero wins. If not, they lose. -If the coin lands on Low Tide, and the hero's card is less than the deck hand's cards, the hero wins. If not, they lose. -If the hero's card is between or equal to the deck hand's card, they lose. "Got it? One round consists of me drawing two cards, you drawing one, and then flipping the coin. Depending on how many rounds you think you can win consecutively, the bigger of a turnout you'll get for beatin' me..." Short Game Entry Fee: 10 gold Length: 1 round Reward: 20 gold Long Game Entry Fee: 20 gold Length: 2 rounds Reward: 45 gold Sailor's Gauntlet Entry Fee: 40 gold Length: 3 rounds Reward: 50 gold + a Level-Up Mushroom "Pick how long of a game you want, and lets get started!"
  6. "Alright then. Excuse me if I come off as hasty, but your employer, Cobb Alttt, has decided to call in a favor. I've been ferrying him back and forth twice now, and you're my final roundtrip." It was clear that by Excelsus' artillery, the ship's size, and its condition that this vessel wasn't made just to handle hour long trips. It was definitely made for voyages, with enough artillery to go to war. It was clear that Armstrong was irritated by what his ship's activites were, but at least he was cordial about it. A ladder drops down from the side of the ship. "Climb up on board, and we can shove off." The heroes follow Armstrong up, soon finding themselves on deck. The captain begins barking orders. Before long, the ropes keeping the ship in place are unrevalled, the sails unfurled, and the anchor pulled up from the briny deep. They were moving, and surpsingly quick, too. The arty begins to look around their surroundings, the green-clad Captain focussing on keeping the ship moving. "Apologies if that captain has rubbed you the wrong way, gentlemen and lady. He's been getting aggravated, running this trip quite afew times in the past few days and all. You'll reach Goland in about an hour; what'd you say we play a game of High Tide, Low Tide to pass the time?"
  7. Hoang Anh pulls a knife off the wall: sharp, but not combat worthy. Utility Knife: A knife that can be used outside of combat for knife-related hings. Inside combat, worthless. The Party: Darksten (Comrade Commander) 35 year old Male Human Ranger Level 2 Power: 5 Health: 7/7 Gold: 20 Equipment: Crossbow (WP: 3) Inventory: Potion x3, Remedy x1, Smoke bomb, Bedroll, Grand Potion, Poison, Utility Knife (roleplay item) Hoang Anh (hoanganhbeo) 20 years old Male Human Knight Level 2 Power: 5 Defense: 2 Health: 11/11 Gold: 25 Equipment: Steel Sword (WP: 4); Shield (SP: 2) Inventory: Potion x2, Remedy x2 Bedroll, Grand Potion, Poison, Sword (WP: 3), Smokebomb "Damned vermin!" ???, Level 2 Cleric HP: 9/9 Ether: 3/6 Gold: 15 Equipment: Storch (WP: 2 staff, fire elemental.) Inventory: Water Bomb, Remedy <Three. And they're constantly stuffing their faces with food to stay strong!> "Looks like we finally located the kitchen, and know its residents. It sounds like if we want to fulfill that woman's asinine request, we have to kill those worms fast - before they can help themselves to too much of a buffet. Ready when you are to walk down those stairs."
  8. "I already lost one of your peers because I thought what I was doing was correct but it wasn't, Noel. I didn't want a repeat.."
  9. "How do we make them "snap out of it"? I'm guessing words asre going to be insufficient?"
  10. "Must it always come to physical force... Tch. Maybe I should've been a knight in shining armor, and not a revenant in rags. Someone hit them with the Laterna."
  11. They're heroes, who signed into a contract and do it as a direct part of their career. Augstus is a fisherchef.
  12. "Hello people I've never met! Let us embark on a journey completely unrelated to myself while I could be spending quality time with my family! Instead, I will put my head on the line for who knows what!"
  13. "Best of luck." "You three stay safe out there!" The three heroes bid goodbye to the brothers, and walk towards their ship. navigating the practical maze of docks and boardwalks, the party finally reaches their destination. As they were told, a man in green awaited them outside the seafaring vessel. "You three are the heroes I was supposed to ferry, yeah? Arthur, Grimwald, and Erdathcath? Captain Armstrong, at your service."
  14. Do not remind me of those! Tropical Freeze's time attacks were evne more vicious... Just convince everyone to jump up and down a couple times, problem solved!
  15. I give Heckz a look of pure scorn. "Heckz. Out. NOW." "Nothing else he has suggested was on this level - It'd practically be rape!"
  16. "I'm... Not fully supportive of the Syndicate. My daughter Olivia has joined, but other than her and Augustus, I really would prefer to keep my ties to them rather thin. I'm a fisherman and a chef. Odd, considering I have more combat experience and skill than blondie here." "Hey, you also had a four years head start, old timer." They were brothers alright.
  17. "Oh, that requires absolutely no nudging, Arthur." The man gives a sly grin. "Those two practically pounce each other whenever they have a ch-" "Excelsus, you say?" Augustus interjects, not wanting Octavyn to go into more detail. "Ah, a fine ship. She's right over there." Augustus points out in the distance - and sure enough, a blue ship bobbed into the waters. It was rather lofty, matching their employer's description. Does the party have anything else to ask of the two men before they head off to their ship?
  18. "You'd be surprised. The Wolfgang leader, Ulric, is trying to crown himself king of Eubric, believe it or not. Him building these shelters and handing out food is only a halfhearted attempt at manipulating the poor souls here. I don't think this place ever was a base, but everything we've found that is useful is probably Wolfgang leftovers. My brother got me the job - he's a cleric as well, and a much more competent one, at that. I envy that man... Our parents both gave us the axe and cut us off." Hoang inspects the barrels, and finds: Smoke Bomb (Allows the party to escape the battle.) His attention turns to the knife rack. Most of them were dull and rusty, but one in particular stood out to him... Steel Sword (WP 4): A surprsingly sturdy sword, considering where it was found. Who will these items go to?
  19. "That's what docks for, aren't they? Besides, I've worked with Heroica - twice! I know you guys' styles at this point." "What is its name? I work here as a fisherman, part-time - If your ship is here, I should be able to point it out to you."
  20. Don't worry, I have a nifty NPC that'll fill the gap LordOfTheNoobs. He's not exactly a PC, but he sure is a fighting machine.
  21. "I've been well! Been working as an admin, patching things up with my older brother here..." "Pleased to meet you. I'm Augustus." "Masson has been keeping everyone busy, much to the new recruits' chagrin. You-know-who is making sure he eats and sleeps like a normal human being, but he's still the same workaholic you met him as - just a much happier one. The shifts are a bit long, but we've been able to increase the pay a little bit with the Town Watch's help... Looking for a ship, I presume?"
  22. The two men turn around, one very familiar... "Surprisingly little. Not a single nibble all day." "Yes, it's been-" The man's face lights up in recognition. "Well, didn't think I'd see you here, Arthur! Up to your usual heroics?"
  23. The irony is bitter.
  24. "I'm not surprised by the inconsistency. I think this place was built by the Wolfgang - I suspect that the first set of architects were arrested and the replaced. No wonder why this place is so horrid, huh? Then again, I grew up in a rich family... I'm not used to things like this." The bugs look up at the ranger, horrified. <But you're larger! They're scary. We tried making off with some food from the Kitchen, and the worms down there didn't take too kindly...>
