  1. <Honor among insects! We'll never divulge any info!> With that, Darksten closes the hat on the bugs, unceremoniously crushing them. Where will the party go next?
  2. I give an exasperated look at our party leader. "..." Now that I no longer had a hood covering my entire face, I could sometimes avoid the use of words.
  3. "I apologize for the comments, Drucilla, i think we're all a bit shaken as of late... Shall we head over to the artifact?" "Losing a child... You're a very strong person to survive through that. You have my sympathies."
  4. The bugs chitter, before the biggest of the small delivers a reply. <The kitchen? We're not going to betray that location to you, giant! Besides, we're, uh... Not exactly set up like you seem to think, Giant. Most bugs gorw up and die in the same room. They never really move around 'round here... We don't know who the leader is. Bunch of big bugs just recently showed up, but besides that...>
  5. I'm hoping to get my current quest (with Shadeaux rep included) up before the week's end.
  6. Sorrow has trapped himself in a lose/lose situation. If he is losing it, he's losing it. if he's not losing it and saying he is losing it, he's losing it.

  7. The two heroes skulk to either ends of the carpet, and gripping each end, flip it over: revealing a small horde of scurrying insects. Darksten scoops up the dozen or so small bugs in his hat, folding up the garment so they couldn't wriggle away. 1/13 Small Bug Hordes found! For the record, the small bug hordes are completely optional: if you want Fiona's bonus reward, though, you're going to have to find them all. The bugs scurry and hiss, defiant. <Unhand us, you awful giant!>
  8. I let out a relieved grunt as Drucilla annihilates all of the books, the demons falling to pieces and fading into nothingness. "Spit? I wanted to rip that thing apart from the spine... I am slipping, aren't I?"
  9. "I never saw anyone actually run in. Young Fiona there was the one to clue us in - she was playing in an alley when she saw him going towards the shelter." "I personally believe its a bunch of-" "Please, have faith in our child for once..." "AAA-heemm. If you're ready, simply proceed down this alley. The shelter lies at the end of it. Best of luck, heroes..." The party walks down the alley, coming across the shelter: It was a dilapidated, hastily constructed building. Two chimneys rose from its thatched roof, the entire building emitting an odd odor. The ranger can here soft whispers emanating from the right wing of the old building: "Would you mind saving me a crumb for once, you glutton?" "Just snack on that guy the Funnelweb captured." With that, the area falls silent besides the churning of the gray skies. They throw the door open, and step inside: The room had three exits: Two on the left, and one on the right. A rickety staircase led up to a small landing, presumably leading to the second floor. A tattered rug was thrown hastily on the floor.
  10. You also run into the slippery slope of either A) Making all diplomacy have equal chance, removing the RP aspect. B) Having to give RP a numerical value. Both are things you'd probably not want to do.
  11. Almost all skills, QMs can decide when and where it works. Spellcasting can be shot down fairly enough, for example. Flee is really only the big one I can think of. A large part of QMing is letting the heroes use their class at the appropriate times at appropriate amounts. I would use Diplomacy to haggle with shopkeepers, sway indecisive townsfolk to our side, and persuade some low-level guard to leave you alone in exchange for a keg of Mead. it really shouldn't work on Antagonists, unless they themselves are not resolute.
  12. "Don't heal me. I have an idea." I use a Nostrum and a Smelling Salts on Drucilla. "Drucilla? Please, go nuts on Saga. With a sapphire, preferably." One shield with a sapphire and Drucilla would decimate every book on the field, ending the battle instantly.
  13. Assasination is, for the most part, AoE. I'm referring to the shield roll. (I think I've killed perhaps 1 or 2 enemies using just a normal shot.) And in two of these battles, there is no crowd to thin out, or it jus timmediately comes back with a vengeance.
  14. "Hold on just a moment! The shelter only has one door, and who knows what else you may encounter in there..." "The infestation seemed to start about two weeks ago. Where they originated? None can ever say. No one has entered the Shelter besides some cloaked man working fro the Town Watch, and he hasn't come out yet... Nobody really has a decent read on the place. Anything in there that isn't food or water, or that we must use, is fair game. If you find any weapons in there, we hovellers have no use for them. I... can not. I don't know the layout well enough. I can say confidently that it is two stories, with an attic. The place contains two chimneys. The kitchen is on the first floor, the barracks on the second." Does the party feel prepared?
  15. Superbuffing is so Sorrow can take on the "boss" monsters, though. Even with his SP, three buffs, and relatively high WP, he's still getting smacked around the room like a pinata by Saga. In the two battles were such "lead" monsters exist, Sorrow has been relentlessly attacking both of them. Note that I have absolutely no problem with Sandy's battle difficulty. I felt like the first was a nice battle with moderate difficulty to start off, the second was a fun puzzle, and the third was unique. Unfortunately, I had my gems set up specifically to curbstomp plants. The fourth is escalating from where 1 and 2 left off, and besdies the little curveball at the beginning, its been a fun battle. What's more, though, is that assassination has been entirely useless in half the battles, and mugging has been all but absent. The mugging part applies to Heckz as well. Beyond his shield, the Assassin has almost the exact same rolls as a basic class.
  16. It isn't those I'm concerned about, actually. I have about 9 of each now, those can wait to be replenished. Besides, have you seen my rolls? Without my nostrums, Sorrow would've been bitten, cleaved in half, suffocated by carnivorous plants, and mauled by Saga repeatedly.
  17. I think there should be at least 1 or 2 battles (perhaps 25-50%) that allows mugging per quest. The whole reason that the current caluse exists is because Rogues would be shafted by the common sense rules on some quests... To not give enemies gold drops because of logic kind of defeats the entire purpose. In a world where demons exist, I don't think its that much of a stretch to assume they are materialistic and perhaps have been mugging staff/facilities/students for their money. After all, we humans do it.
  18. I drink a Grand Potion, and slash at Saga.
  19. "I see anything from ants to spiders in there. Nasty little things, brr..." "All of the food is in the kitchen - and I got ambushed by a bunch of ants in there! Massive ones!" "All of the adults want the big bugs squished, and I'm fine with that. I just want all the normal sized bugs squashed. You know, the types that are no bigger then your pinky finger? Daddy says they like to hide anywhere, so you gotta check everywhere for em! I don't think they'll try biting you or anything, you'd just gotta stompy-stomp them... You don't need to do it, but I'd really appreciate it if you could, misters!" "I imagine they're nibbling at the woodwork, but it should hold for this last storm." "The kitchen is surprisingly well stocked, assuming none of the bugs have gotten to it... We should be fine."
  20. I should have a quest for higher levels up before long, if you FOGers are willing to go along.
  21. I move to the front row with my assault, an unnatural frustration in my posture.
  22. "Don't... don't worry about it. I haven't been myself lately. At all."
  23. "Please, please, don't call me that, "lass."" I give an exhausted smirk, but there was no happiness in my eyes.
  24. More for RP reasons, if anything else. Sorrow's patience has been drained, and he just weants to tear that book apart. If it becomes seriously detrimental to the party, of course I'll stop, but I'm willing to take a risk here.
  25. I can still survive getting clobbered from the back row, though, assuming its a full heal.
