Hi, KimT. I see you have updated the CW index to include some of the 2009 minifigs. However, a lot of info and pics are still missing. I was just wondering if you are going to change that soon. Also: Why did you still not add the ARC trooper from the Fighter Tank? Why is the SBD w/ blaster arm twice in the index? Why are the SBD without blaster arm and the BD commander from 7681 missing? Are the minifigs indexed in any particular order? And why is there still no pic of Rex' face!? My offer to provide pics of a lot of the droids and Yoda is still standing. I'm just waiting for you to tell me which ones you still need.

Perhaps you can divide the vehicles into sizes (large, medium, small) or categories (land, water, air) and have three different poll questions per faction for them. Sounds fair. That'll also give people time to actually buy the new sets and make an opinion about them.

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
Oky replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Seconded. That and the support beams are the only similarities. 8634 is a vehicle based set, this is a building based set. And this set is twice as large as 8634, so I really don't see your point, daxflame680. -
Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

You call this a thumbnail? True, it is a somewhat small picture and you can't see every single brick, but I think it was large enough to see most of its features and the overall design. True, I just thought it was funny how largely your opinion on the set was affected by pictures that didn't reveal too much new about the set. And I'm just saying that if people would take a closer look at things they wouldn't get so surprised sometimes. Besides, I'm older than you, so shut up. -
Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

So... this set went from "incredible" to "slapped together and shallow" for you? I think somebody needs to learn to take a closer look at pictures. Oh and btw, I TOLD YOU SO! Seriously, though, after seeing these detailed pics, I kinda like the set more than before as well. It has an interesting design that fits well into the theme. It has good playability and some nice details (like the pipes between the tower, the crystal rocks beneath the towers, and the vents etc. atop the towers). Even the large wheel seems to make sense, now that I know that it is what reels the cablecar up. It reminds me of things from the industrial revolution era. And the use of pirate masts is pretty creative IMO. Sure, it could have used some more figs, and the space below the large tower seems a bit empty, but that space will be a nice place to park the buggy or Stone Chopper or Mine Mech. One thing is for sure: It looks a whole lot better than the silly Command Rig. When on sale, I might get this set. Thanks for the pics! -
Thanks for the review, yadda yadda... I really like the turn-around feature. And the minifigs are excellent. Do any of them have back printing? You don't show or tell us anything about that.
-
No. The Simpsons are boring these days, and I'm sure the sets would be too. Besides, they would be too cartoony to be used with anything else.
-
"Captain, what's that steering wheel on your belt for?" "Arr! It's drivin' me nuts."
-
A very nice looking microscale ship! Even the color scheme is good IMHO. But not much of a destroyer, is it? I mean, only ONE cannon? Unless it's fire power lies with the fighters it carries... Good job.

I want him to be a cyborg. Not a freak. No, I'm sticking with the Saw Fist one. More like Teen Titans. Other inspirations for my character include Jet Black (from Cowboy Bebop) and John Silver (from Disney's Treasure Planet).

Agents and James Bond similarities
Oky replied to samthelegoman1's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yes, that's how I see it too. Even Kim Possible could have been an inspiration for this theme (the main villain of that show has a certain resemblance with Inferno). -
Actually, I'm more thinking of this type of cyborg. Exactly. I can't make up my mind about the rest of the character's design, but I'll post something soon. Interesting idea. I'll have to think about that. But since he is mostly human, I doubt I'll go for it.
-
We'll see what JD has to say about that. Nope. A badass cyborg!
-
Lol. That's the sort of role I played back in the SWCG. I think I'll be the opposite this time: the tough guy. Btw, with all the nuking going on, are there mutants or people with superpowers of some kind? @ YG-49: Clone helmet? Endor bunker? Sandcrawler? You know this isn't a SW game, right? Seriously, I think we should keep everything star wars related out of this so that it doesn't get confusing. Except for blasters.

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009
Oky replied to cartoondude's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Somebody ought to change the first post to include this thing so that people stop posting it. -
Yes! Agents Survey 2.0! But include the vehicles & characters from 1.0 as well so that we can see if there are some who prefer the old sets over the new ones.

I don't know why, but I'm not so impressed by this set. I was kinda hoping for something more along the lines of the Rock Raiders HQ. Oh well. It's still a pretty descent set (more so than the Command Rig ). I guess I'l have to wait for a review to make a final judgment. You're probably right. I guess you put the crystals in somewhere at the top and turn the wheel, the crystals get processed pointlessly, and they come out at the bottom. Kinda like the Dwarf Mine. -
Excellent ideas, Tinn-man! However, I don't see TLG making Carl's house with all the Baloons. But the set with the Biplanes, I can totally see happening. How so? With the characters' thin limbs and large heads, I think they would be "alien" figs rather than normal figs. In fact, I fear they could turn out like the MM martians! I think that' why nobody dared to consider it. Also, aside from the circus and the mechanical bird, there's really not much they could make sets of.

Boooh! What a rip-off! I feel like calling up that number now and telling him what a jerk he is. Or even better: Pretend that I want to buy them, come to his house, and as soon as he opens the door, smack him in the face. That's not so bad. At least it's mostly the real Lando; the only thing that's wrong is the torso. PS: Isn't that a girl's torso? Lol, Lando's a cross-dresser.
-
Ah. Thanks. But how do we know that's his name? Well, if we include Pete into the poll, I think we should include him too. Who's got ideas for a name?
-
Just look at it: Really not that special IMO. In fact, it's the worst vehicle of the whole theme.
-
Thanks for the pic, Rancor! I like the toxic waste barrels and the sign that says "Universe-L Spare Parts" which I hadn't noticed before! Are you serious? That thing is just a Technic missile launcher attached to a 2x6 plate with some random pieces in the back! It looks like it has been thrown together in a few minutes! Even the space cycle from the Galactic Enforcer looks way better than that! Well, it's never too late to start.

Hm... Perhaps with that shipment, all stores will start getting 'em?
-
From June 23-25 you can get the Rogue Shadow for 50% off at all Lego Stores. Also, during June, you'll get an assassin droid BP free with any $50 Lego Star Wars purchase.

Ah. Thanks for that info, JD. And yes, I was thinking about using EF robots too. But as JD says, they could be any brick-built ones. It'll be hard for some to include UFO aliens since it's an old theme and not many had it, but since they always wear helmets, I guess it should be easy for everyone to make characters with helmets and shoulder protectors of some kind. (As for me, I do have some UFO aliens ) @ computerbug: I don't have that hairpiece either and nothing similar to it. Perhaps you could give us an alternative? Btw, how about we call this game Apocalyptica? (like my Block Block contest entry )? I think it sounds a bit more interisting than just Apocalypse.
