  1. Now, Now, is that a way to treat an upcoming license? Nice MOC, though. Looks very much like the reference images.
  2. This review seems unfinished. There is very little information about this set besides its title and set number. Also, you only give us ONE view of the set and don't show us any of it's play features.
  3. Ahem! Shouldn't a moderator know these things? Why else would they have the license?
  4. Ditto. Some people over at FBTB claim that the Lego reps they talked to when ordering these from the Legoland shop said that these will be available in Lego stores soon. And to be honest, I believe them. This doesn't seem like your usual exclusive promotional. Until now, all hard-to-get promotional minifigs were given out in polybags in some kind of special way, whether through luck, spending a certain amount of money on Lego, or having some kind of special benefits (like a VIP pass). This, however, is being sold like a normal set in a store to anyone. Also, it's a magnet set. Why would they make it a magnet set if it were just another Chrome Vader? Because they want to sell it in stores, and as we all know, TLC can't sell individual minifigs, which is why they invented the magnet sets. Therefore, I'm sure this will just be a S@H exclusive or something. Btw, can somebody please tell me what the inside of the helmet looks like? I'm curious.
  5. So, they are not holding back on them anymore because of Star Wars Weekend?
  6. Interesting question. I myself have not completely understood such obsession, even though I caught myself obsessing about figs a little bit sometimes too. This is how I see it: Minifigs are awesome! To be more exact, they are irresistibly charming, so that when you see a, say, Mini Nute Gunray, you can't help but want one. This especially applies to people who like to collect and want a minifig for their collection, no matter what the set it comes in is like. Sure, Lego isn't Hasbro, but AFOLs can be fanboys too. So, whenever one of our beloved Star Wars characters is released as a minifig, we just geek out I guess. The sets are very important for me too, but so are minifigs. It's kind of a 50-50 deal for me. If the set is good, but the minifigs aren't interesting (like the CW Y-Wing), I'll get it. If the minifigs are good, but the set just average (like the Separatist Shuttle), I'll still get it as well. EDIT: Btw, it's kinda funny that you support MOCing so much whereas the last MOC you posted here (excluding contest entries) is two years old.
  7. Well, looking at my name, you will already know which one I'm going for. But seriously, the Star Wars aliens look much better (more realistic) with their detailed head molds and prints. The aliens in SP3 look so damn cartoony, whereas in Star Wars, even alien figs from The Clone Wars have a certain realistic look to them thanks to the details. Of course Star Wars has some bad alien figs, like the one-molds Sebulba and Aldar Beedo, but since Star Wars has been around for so long, I think it's OK for it to have had a few bad minifigs along the line. Also, Star Wars has more exotic aliens. When you think of extra terrestrials, you think of very strange beings of different shapes and sizes, and Star Wars provides some good examples of that, whereas most of the aliens in SP3 are about the same size and are overall very similar humans, aside from having squid-shaped heads or tentacles coming out of their face. The only exception is Frenzy who is taller than everyone else, has a strange head, AND an extra pair of arms. So yeah, Star Wars it is.
  8. Huh? Pictures don't have speed, silly! Only videos do. if you mean to change the speed of the whole film, you need to change the fps in the sequence settings. If you want to change the time that an individual frame is shown, you gotta change the duration.
  9. WHAT? What's wrong with you people? CW Obi Wan is a cool fig and he only came in one, overly expensive set! We should be grateful that we get a chance to get him in a set below 50 bucks!
  10. Thanks for that link. Wow. What an awful song. It's so annoying, I can barely bear to listen to it for more than a few seconds. I don't see what's supposed to be so great about it. Sorry, but it's just not my taste I guess. Good point. That and the fact that this MOC doesn't remind much of present day Istanbul show that it would probably be better if this MOC was called "Constantinople (Not Istanbul)". Btw, Jordan, how about replying to the comments on your MOCs for once?
  11. Haha, yeah, considering that the Tantive 4 is this big in true minifig scale, a Venator would be humongous! But the General is making a point. What good is a "minifig-scale" Venator if it isn't big enough to have a decent interior and looks like crap from the outside? That's why this is a below average set at best. The only things that save it from being completely poor are the 2-3 new minifigs and the fact that it is a passable Venator. I'll still be getting it, though, even if only to get the parts to make my own Venator MOC. And I'm sorry to agree with some people here, Bricks, but this review wasn't exactly impressive. You barely showed us anything we haven't seen before in Toy Fair pics and vids. You didn't even show us a picture of the exerted cockpit. It's OK, though. Just try to be a little more in-depth next time.
  12. You have at least ten CW Obi Wans? How the heck did you get 'em? And why?
  13. Captain Pete FTW! Hehe, just kidding. Of course it's Brickbeard! He is more detailed, more realistic, and has a more mean pirate smile! Plus the gold hook and epaulets! Who the heck is Iron Hook? I have never heard of him before, and I can't find a picture of him.
  14. Once again, a very nice posing technique. I really like the legs. The arms seem kinda long, though, and make it look like the knight's hands are glued to the floor and he is trying to get them loose! Still very good, though. This technique will be great for creating a scene of Darth Vader talking to the emperor!
  15. Over at FBTB, they posted that you can order the Chrome Stormie magnet set from the Legoland California store. However, an update just got posted that they don't accept any orders anymore. Bummer. What's more intriguing though, is that someone else on FBTB said that he talked to one of the Lego reps at Legoland who said that these magnets will be available in Lego Stores soon. I really hope that's true!
  16. Well, except for being completely out of continuity, it looks quite nice.
  17. Thanks, C-Bug! I had a feeling they were. Sorry if I came off rude, I really didn't mean to. I was simply explaining the situation since you seemed to have misunderstood something. Well, I don't mean to be rude, but since you never posted any pics, how the heck were we supposed to know that?
  18. Very funny review, jansued! Great job! However, you did not manage to sell this set to me. It might be nicely designed, look accurate, and have great figs (I'm loving the detailed back printing on the pirates!), but the whole thing just doesn't have much appeal to me. Maybe it's because it would look completely out of place next to my Republic and Separatist vehicles, and because it's not exactly the most relevant Star Wars vehicle. TLG did a good job on this, though, so I vote it above average. Now, if this would have come with a new Jar Jar, Senate Security clones, a Skalder, and maybe even a Kowakian monkey lizard, I would have voted it outstanding, but getting so many new figs in such a small set is too much to ask, I guess. I will only consider getting this set if I see it for about half the price. Drink up me hearties, yo ho! (I always wanted to use that emoticon! )
  19. Hehe, not a bad idea, but I'll pass. Sorry, I just hate it when people don't pay attention.
  20. Oky

    Lego Gone Wild!

Lol. This is pretty funny. I like it. It's technically very well done (the distortion of the torso prints etc.). It would have been funny if there were little brown bricks coming out of the mouth of that chick who threw up. Then they could have said that she "bricked".
  21. What do you think we were discussing for the last eleven pages? Seriously, why does everyone treat these facts like news? We've known this since Toy Fair for pete's sake! Just saying. Toy Story is a PIXAR movie. Their movies are always made to appeal to all audiences, sometimes even more to mature audiences than younger ones.
  22. Interesting. I don't think my TRU has that deal. Perhaps it's just a local and/or highly limited time offer?
  23. Good idea! And because the aliens are pissed about that, they turn to crime. Btw, has anyone thought about the fact that the Space policemen could have force-fields surrounding their helmets to contain the air? This theme sparks one's creativity quite well.
  24. Clearly Skopio is the best Bionicle set this year! I mean, a big arachnoid mech that transforms into a tank-like vehicle - how cool is that! Even the driver looks good! If I had the money, I would buy it, even though I don't really collect Bionicle!
  25. I completely agree. This version is so much better. Great Job!
