Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Oky replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Sweet! They have Ventress' Fanblade starfighter from the original series! This makes me hopeful for a set of that ship, even though it will be hard to execute! Are those clones trying to take on Dooku? Those fools... Probably. If they were ghosts, they'd be blue. This reminds me of the scenes from the original CW where Dooku trained with Ventress and Grievous. I like how they seem to take more influence from the mini-series. Well, I wouldn't call it "strong", but yes, as I already said in the 2011 thread, the possibility is there. Huh? Agreed! And I too hope Hondo will appear again as well! I love that guy. Greedo is a little kid at this point in time, so that can't be him. And unfortunately that's Anakin fighting Ventress, not Mace. But yeah, that's definitely a new jedi. Maybe she's the one Bane gets his 'saber from? -
When and what will the next themed month be?
Oky replied to Joey Lock's topic in Forum Information and Help
Yeah, a "Who are you in Harry Potter" competition like the one we had for PoP month would be great! You mean like expanded universe? That's a bit vague and would probably only interest the fans. I'd prefer a Recreate-a-scene contest. -
That's unlikely, but a life-size Hedwig is plausible and would be pretty neat. An MMV-style Hogsmead would be great too, though I wouldn't buy it.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Oky replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Not so sure about the double sided face, but yeah, I too hope that the gorilla has a normal head. Can you verify this for us K-D? If that's the case, you could combine it with the Mime's hat and make a Monsieur Mallah! Or with the troll helmet, you could make Gorilla Grodd! So many possibilities! -
From cralegoboy's review: Very interesting! I haven't seen that around here yet. I too wonder if they'll re-box the other sets too. Which design do you think will be the more valuable? Also, I just found out about this promo brick which was given out at the grand opening of the Lego store in the Aventura Mall, Miami, Florida. On bricklink it already sells from $35 upward!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion

A Jar Jar appreciation movement? The apocalypse must be nearer than I thought... Or they could just hi-jack some of the STAPs, but I suppose they'd still be too late to save the queen. Nah, only Mace Windu can do that, simply because he's awesome. But yeah, this is getting way off topic. -
Well, they had to put something buildable into the set, and the jeep is pretty good for what it is. Just be glad they gave us these in a battle pack type set and not, say, a $50 Bomber plane or something.
-
Nice job on the review. I know this set is hell to photograph, I had the same issue with my own review, but you did a decent job, and the last pic is funny. Keep it up!

That's what I thought at first too, but if it's just the same old ninjas in more different colors, how bad can it be?

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Oky replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
No, you probably can't. Besides, wasn't it already officially announced that beginning with Series 3 there wont be any way to tell the bags apart using the barcode? -
Well, this certainly sounds strange. But since Atlantis will be continuing, and we now have World Racers, there isn't really any space for another proper Action theme I suppose, so this makes sense. I'm glad that color is the only change in the minifigs since that means that they wont be some crazy anime-style characters. When you say "other stuff" do you mean like accessories or settings? Any new pieces you could make out?

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Oky replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
That doesn't surprise m at all. If we do get this theme, it will tie in with the movie in summer. Thanks for letting us know though. -
I did some searching on CubeDudes, and I found this statement from creator MacLane: I guess that along with all the examples out there should be enough of a template for a contest.
-
How can you confirm that? Have you seen the pics too? Well, as long as they're well done set pieces and available in cheap sets, I'm happy.
-
Did they look like these? If so, that would confirm the rumor of the T6 Shuttle and the Bounty Hunter Gunship as the "Halo". Did you see anythting like this?
-
Because somebody has to since they are still not giving us a driver for it, even though she's probably not the best one for the job.
-
Too bad that you can't give us any information on any of the other sets, but at least we now know what the Naboo set is. A droid carrier and two gungans? Quite disappointing. I hope the Gungans are at least printed. I'm also surprised they used bricks instead of zamor spheres for the boomers. I assume it comes with a catapult of some sort? That BP you mention sounds a lot like the rumored Mando BP. Can you at least confirm that the BPs have four figs, or tell us what kind of vehicle the other BP came with?
-
Interesting. So we are actually finally getting to the actual Atlantis that people have been asking for since the beginning of the theme? Nice. I'm curious for pics. Thanks, Klaus!

Thanks for the info, Klaus-Dieter. Most of these don't sound too exciting for me, but my opinion may change once I actually see them. There are definitely some good ones in there though. Then what do you mean by "pan"? -
*VOTE* Tournament of Retribution II *VOTE*
Oky replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in Pirate MOCs
Since Hornbricker seems to be busy, could some other mod please add my entry to the list so that people know they can vote for it? -
Meh. At least they wont get shot at as long as the droids don't see the logo on the wing.
-
That would be kinda neat actually, but then again, who would buy that except hardcore fans? It never bothered me that the classrooms didn't look exactly like the ones in the movies. I actually kinda liked it that TLG took some creative liberties to make the sets more enjoyable and compatible with each other. After all, this is based on a series of books, and the movies are only a guideline to how the "real" Hogwarts could look. Of course I count that. What else would you call it? Besides, if a UCS Hogwarts had an interior, it would probably just be comprised of chairs and tables as well. But like you said, it would only be a movie-accurate exterior, and that's not very attractive to me. And as Svelte said, no one really has the space to put such a thing. Heck, I'm even worried where I'm gonna put 4842 if I get it.
-
Well, at least the SW UCS sets tend to be actual minifig-scale and have some interior (like the Falcon and Imperial Shuttle) and are nice to look at with all their greeble, and the Batmobile had some playability, but a UCS Hogwarts would just be a beefier version of the playset minus the interior, minifigs, and play features, and would still not be true minfig-scale. And if it doesn't have an interior, it's no fun since Hogwarts is all about the magical adventures that take place inside, not its facade. And if you're just interested in tan bricks, you can just get multiples of the playset, or go to PAB or Bricklink.

The Rebel/Stormie BPs were 2008, and if they keep their pattern the only way they could release the Commando/Scout BPs in 3013 would be as an early 2014 release. But believe whatever you want. Because that was several years ago and today's kids probably don't have that fig, plus I'm sure they are aware that us AFOLs are asking for a new, decent version of her. Besides, I bet you would have said the same about Kit Fisto a year ago, and yet, here he is again, appearing in both a set and a magnet set.
