It would explain the glow inside the clones' helmets as well. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Oky replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
No, it's not. These scenes have been shown in an official trailer, and they are fully rendered and textured, so there is no way these could be incomplete scenes. Legonator's theory sounds most plausible to me. I mean, if they had the technology to create realistic holographic environments, why would they still be using that noisy monotone hologram technology as their primary form of communication? -
Yes, CopMike confirmed that we'll get both Calendars this year.

Gasp! A stranger! From the outside world! Ooooh! Greetings stranger! I come in peace. I am from the planet Toysrus, and I brought my spaceship! Wanna see? Set Number: 30070 Name: Alien Space Ship Theme: Toy Story Year of Release: 2010 Pieces: 26 Minifigs: 1 Price: $3.99 USD Brickset BrickLink Brickshelf The Bag The front of the bag shows the spaceship flying through space. It features a choking hazard warning and the Toy Story 3 logo. However, unlike other Toy Story 3 sets, it doesn't show the character(s) that are included in the set. Instead, it just has Woody & Buzz, making it look rather generic, but maybe that's the idea. The Toy Story 3 logo was obviously thrown on for promotional purposes as this set resembles nothing from the movie. The back has some more warnings and other info, and one of those Lego Club ads which seem to be everywhere these days. Contents Inside the bag we find the parts along with a separately bagged alien head and an instructions paper folded to the size of a matchbox. The instructions are pretty straight forward and are made up of 8 easy steps. At the bottom of the second page, it has ads for 7590 and 7593, and *Sigh* another Lego Club ad. The Minifig The minifig in this promo is an LGM (Little Green Man). He is the same as the ones in the Build-a-Buzz/Zurg sets and not the Chinese plastic kind that comes in the magnet set. The Spaceship Here it is after Step 4: And here it is finished. Doesn't look too bad, but it's rather flat, especially looking at it straight-on. Also, the third thruster on top looks a bit odd the way it's attached, and I don't like the overlap of the windshield at the front, but those are just minor things. Looks better from top (and bottom). Nice pattern on the wings, although I would have preferred it if they would have used this tile instead of the 1x1s. The Complete Set Due to his unposeable legs, the LGM can only stand on the ship. The design of this ship is obviously based on that of Buzz's Star Command Ship, so here is a comparison pic: Ratings Design: 3/5 - Well, it certainly looks like a mini version of Buzz's ship and therefore fits into the theme nicely, but it does have some design flaws. Build: 1/5 - Quick and very simple. No challenge at all. Minifigs: 5/5 - The alien is very cute and it's always good to get another one of them! Playability: 2/5 - It's very swooshable, and it has a lever, but that's it. Parts: 2/5 - A bunch of plates and tiles and other bits. Nothing special, except the lime green pieces at the end of the wings which come in only five other sets in this color. Price: 5/5 - Over thirty parts and a licensed fig for the price of an impulse set is pretty good, especially considering this is a hard-to-find promo set. Overall: 3/5 - Nice, cute little set. A great way to get an LGM. If you can get this promo, I recommend picking it up, possibly multiples. Hi-res versions of all the pics can be found in this brickshelf folder. Aftermath: After seeing these tiny spaceships in battle, Star Command soon realized they were too inefficient for space combat, so they re-purposed them as kiddie rides. I hope you enjoyed this review. More promo reviews will follow soon!

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Oky replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Hehehe! Indeed, that would be a great game! Here's to hoping! -
Yeah, that's what it looks like to me too. Oh, you're right. Silly me. Looking at that pic you posted there is nothing white on those wedges. As for the Republic symbol, it's probably a sticker too. Did you notice that the ones in the back are made out of two parts? I respect TLC for listening to those fans who don't like stickers that span over multiple parts, but I'm not one of them. These are gonna be a pain to apply. Good thing they used the giant tile piece for the plaque; otherwise it would have probably been made out of many thin stripes.
-
Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but I just realized by looking at that pic that those lime green wedge pieces are printed.

I think it makes sense putting Pirates of the Carribean on the list. I don't think Toy Story and PoP are going to be continued, no matter how awesome they are. But I think there is a good chance we might see System Cars sets based on the sequel that's coming out in summer. I think it's also very possible for World Racers to continue. There is still potential in that theme. For example, I'd love to see some Crimson Skies style airplanes! And I really hope they decide to continue Harry Potter!

Thanks. I was afraid it wouldn't be recognizable as a wedgie, so I'm glad everyone got it. Sweet, thanks Big Cam! Yeah, the technique is quite old. Skalldyr used it in his entry too, but my use of it is better because it shows a redcoat exploding. Still thinking about my Round 2 entry. Any suggestions/requests?

I haven't noticed this phenomenon very often. I do see what you mean though. Regarding Adventurers, there was an audiobook cassette which came with one of the smaller sets and told the story of Adventurers. The same goes for TimeCruisers which had a different story associated with each set/time machine. This was in Germany, so I don't know about the rest of the world. I'm kinda kicking myself now that I sold those cassettes. The one theme that has always been a mystery to me while others seem to be experts in it is Lego Space. I had no clue there was such an inter-connected story between all those factions and I still wonder where that story came from.

Sounds kinda like the LDD contest to me, except with real MOCs and a different voting system. I agree completely. Different themes are different themes and should be treated as such. Saying one theme is better than the other just because somebody managed to make a good MOC for it would result in disagreement and maybe even a flame war. In the words of a wise jedi master: "I have a bad feeling about this..." Besides, we all know it's Star Wars. (Just kidding of course!)

The Hyena Droid Bomber had a bunch:

That looks very cool indeed! The best "custom" Grievous fig I have seen to date! He is a little tall for a minifig, but not too much. The cape is good too; I was disappointed the new GG doesn't come with one. Overall, great work!

Yeah, but then again, Grievous was trained to use them by Dooku whereas Bane has probably never held a lightsaber before. I'm guessing it's a similar situation as in Holocron Heist when that changeling used the librarian's saber to defend herself. We'll see. Sounds like an EB username. -
That's because it's not Christmas time and it's not out yet. When it is released, it should be available in other places than just the Lego shops. Not sure which retailers have them, you'll just have to ask around.

Yay! TODO is back! Those new droids look interesting too. What are they? Ultra Mega Battle Droids? It's gonna be a good year for Star Wars sets... -
Aren't those survey questions usually based on things that past survey entrants have entered? Well, if it really was TLC who suggested this, I guess they saw the excitement over the collectable Spartan minifig. Of course a roman theme would be great, and I think there were one or two threads discussing it here already.

With Castle, it's always about the minifigs for me, so it's the Advent Calendar for me. Besides, you just gotta love the princess with the frog, the exclusive neoclassic wizard, and the sword in the stone!
-
Yeah, it's a pity. It sounds like it has the potential for more than just 12 episodes. Maybe if it does well, they'll extend it?
-
Yeah, you're right. It just reminds my StarWars-infested mind of it.
-
Sure, it's a bit disappointing, but as long as they can still deliver what they did in the original show (great storytelling, animation, and humor), I'm fine with it. First you say you don't want the technology to advance much, and then you want them to have firearms? I wouldn't like that very much. One of the things I liked about ATLA was the Ancient Asia type of fantasy world it is set in. Firearms wouldn't fit into it, I think, whereas steampunk stuff does since it plays into the fantasy aspect of it. Also, I don't want this to become too similar to Star Wars. The Anti-Bender revolt already sounds a bit too much like the Great Jedi Purge. Bringing guns into the story would thin the line between the two sagas even more.
