Bwahaha! Nice one, Pirate Pete! Come to think of it, you could also use the heads as cabbages of the cabbage merchant if you hide the faces.
-
Yeah, you need to get off your lazy butt and actually go into the store unfortunately.

At last, Borders is offering a 40% off one item coupon again! Even with their recent mark-ups, this should be one of the best deals you'll get for a while.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Oky replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Ahsoka + boobs = improvement. It looks like Filoni has started to give video answers to fan questions. Click here to see the first one where he is trying to rectify not showing Plo Koon without his mask. Not sure where you can submit those questions. -
Sure there is, and if our support of that idea in this thread had any effect on the admins, I'd even say it's very possible. Let's hope so! By the way, all you Harry Potter and Star Wars fans might want to check this out.

Following on the success of my Toy Wars, I present to you my next Star Wars fusion: Not so long ago, in a land far, far away called Britain... It is a period of wizarding war. Phoenix Order members, striking from a hidden mansion, have won their first victory against the evil Death Eaters. During the battle, Phoenix Order spies managed to steal secret plans to the Dark Lord's ultimate weapon, the Deathly Hallows, an assortment of objects with enough power to enslave all muggles. Pursued by the Dark Lord's sinister agents, Princess Hermionea races home aboard her broomstick, custodian of the stolen plans that can save her people and restore freedom to the wizarding world.... Harry Skypotter lived with his uncle and aunt ever since he was a baby. His knowledge about his parents was a lie, as he would later find out. He learned about his special abilities when he got into his teen years. He spent the following years learning how to use these magical abilities. It was then that he found out that he was destined to defeat the Dark Lord who ruled the world. Next to him is the Trollpa, a beast that attacks our hero. Ron Solo and his hairy companion Chewbagrid are the pilots of the Millenium Ford-Anglia and close friends of Harry Skypotter. The beautiful young princess Hermionea, who falls in love with Ron Solo even though she is repulsed by him at first, and Zev Sehoochca, one of the most skilled pilots around. Hedwig Deetoo delivers messages and helps Harry Skypotter any way she can, while C-3PLockhart constantly gets himself into trouble. These are the mentors of Harry Skypotter, Yoddi the House-jedi and Dumbli Wan Kedori. Lord Palpamort is the powerful evil wizard that rules over the land. His right hand man is Darth Snaper, who is on a mission to deliver young Harry Skypotter to his master. But his loyalty to the Dark Lord is not what it seems. Serving under Darth Snaper, Grand Malfoy Tarkin and his loyal henchmen TK Crabby and TK Goyle do anything to serve young Skypotter to the Dark Lord. After Verno Caldursleyan sold out Harry Skypotter and his friends, Lucius Fett shows up to collect the bounty for Ron Solo. After seemingly working for the Dark Lord for the last few years, Darth Snaper finally reveals that he was on Harry's side all along, but is fatally wounded in a fight with (part of) Lord Palpamort. As he is dying, he asks to see Harry with his own eyes one last time. Bonus Picture: Slave Hermionea! I hope you liked this one too. I called it HogWars because it just sounds better than "Harry Wars" or "Star Potters". I'm sure there are other parallels (or alternate parallels to the ones I have presented) which I sadly cannot realize since I don't have the required minifig parts. Some examples include Jabba the Basilisk and Minerva McMothma. Therefore, I encourage everyone to post their own HogWars figs in this thread! May the magic be with you!

Yeah, well, my powers aren't fully developed yet, so it takes some time for them to take effect. Loving the new avatar by the way.
-
It worked! I'm a wizard!!

Minifigs aren't everything you know. And considering that you can get Harry in every other set and that sets of this price range usually have four figs, it only has two figs worth getting for, so it's quite below average. I mean, how cool would it have been if they would have thrown Dumbledore into the set too?
-
Thanks, but that doesn't change the fact that I and the bluecoats lost once more. Oh well. Next time... I already tried that, but he keeps coming back, and he get's bigger every time he does.
-
Yes, it's a bit hard to display due to its size; I myself have it standing in the closet on top of a pile of jeans because it doesn't fit anywhere else. But it's a good set to get just as a parts pack too, so if that's your plan, go get it! I'd say go for it, this set is certainly worthy of standing alongside such themes! I partly agree with you there. While I'm very glad we got these "dirty" versions, I would like to get normal versions with alternate expressions as well. Just2Good was very lucky to get a misprint of Buzz's head without the dirt on it. And yes, it would have sucked if the only fig we got of Twitch would have been a dirty version, especially since it wouldn't even have made sense because he was never thrown into the trash. Because he is outdated. We'll be getting a printed version soon.
-
Yeah, I agree with all of that. That's why I voted below average.
-
Wow, a review already? Thanks for the good review. But what's so terrible about Harry's face? I like the old version better too, hence me using it for my sigfig, but I don't think it's too bad, plus it's good that it has an angry side. Lucius and Dobby are a huge improvement over their initial versions, even though Lucius' mask does look like it has shrunk. Aside from the color and printing, is Dobby's head mold the same as the old one? The set itself is just meh to me. It's more accurate to the movie, but somehow I feel that the parts and playability of the old version were better. I'll still definitely get this though. "Frontpageius!"

Yeah, Harley is kinda too slutty, even though it suits the gritty style. But Catwoman is definitely the best bit here - she looks like a combination of Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie in a Sky Captain-espue outfit! So, does this mean you'll make a minifig of her? Yay! And yeah, let's hope we wont see some kind of mutant penguin-man.
-
No, and this is not really the place to discuss this. @ Klaus-Dieter: Yes, that sounds quite plausible.
-
Well, there goes another chance to win something (and avenge the bluecoat's defeat). Oh well, I already knew I didn't have chance against Skalldyr's superb creation. Congratulations to you, good sir crab.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Oky replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yeah, there's definitely some nastiness in this show. People kill and get killed all the time (it's war after all), so a bunch of unborn clones getting killed at once is not a huge change of pace. Anyway, it's a neat scene, but the particle effects are kinda cheesy. The glass splinters seem to just hang in the air rather than rain down as they should. Oh well, I guess we can't expect PIXAR quality animation on a weekly show such as this. -
You know, as soon as I saw the collectable Witch fig, I imediately thought about this picture. This would be a perfect thing to do with the green witch!

I'm not sure if this rant even relates to lego, but I'm gonna reply anyway. What does Hasbro have to do with anything? If anyone is to blame, it's the Clone Wars creators. It's pretty disturbing that you consider a human being as "cannon fodder" just because of the way it's created. And I'm pretty sure that the money to have these clones made doesn't just fall from the sky. So making specialists for every kind of combat situation seems pretty smart if you ask me. If by "worked fine" you mean have their butt kicked and their two ginormous space stations blown up by a bunch of teenagers, yes, it worked out very fine for them. And no one forces you to buy anything. Not directly anyway.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. Actually, I haven't. I was just thinking of making go karts for the minifigs, but I guess a 4-wide RC would fit in nicely. I'll see what I can do. No, I'm really talking about Zurg's racer. Both Stretch's and his are mostly purple, but the shape is different. Actually, Woody's racer is already quite unique in that its seat extends over the rear axle. Also, if you look closely, the elements on both of their karts are slightly different. As for Star Wars, it has already been done.

The Penguin's Batman Minifigures. )
Oky replied to The Penguin's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Not sure... It just doesn't look like Robin. His hair should be either neat like in The Batman or unruly like in TNBA. Here it looks like he tried to tame his hair, but failed. I wonder what the Karate Master's hair would look like on a costumed Robin. It seems like the closest you can get to the The Batman version. You're welcome. Just be sure to give me credit when making one. I might make a little MOC involving a Joker victim when I get them mime myself. I'm looking forward to it - whatever it is. I'm sure the upcoming Arkham City game will provide some interesting designs for you turn into minifigs, such as the catwoman who looks like she is wearing goggles. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion
Oky replied to Corvus's topic in Culture & Multimedia
It's OK. Let's hope someone puts that one on youtube soon. According to the official Star Wars blog calendar, the first two episodes are called "Clone Cadets" and "ARC Troopers". Kind of strange names for episodes, but if they're true, I'm guessing it will be the Kamino episodes, the first one focusing on the cadets inside the facility that is under attack, and the second on those new "Phase 1.5" ARC troopers. -
Star Wars: The Clone Wars: season 3 discussion

Uh, that's not a trailer, it's the same interview Mr. Mandalorian just posted. Nice video nonetheless. It doesn't really reveal anything new, but it does have some good looking scenes that make excited for this season. I saw a commercial on TV where you can see Artoo getting shocked just like Threepio, and a display with him on it along with some statistics. Does he get kidnapped too? Are they trying to get access to the Republic secrets in his memory bank again? We'll see. -
When I was browsing the internets recently, I came across a picture of the old Toy Story Racer videogame, and immediately I thought "Hey! That's a great idea for a MOC project!" And so, I started building little 4-wide race cars for my Toy Story minifigs. In the videogame, all the race cars were just color variations of RC, which was pretty boring in my opinion, so I went for a more go-kart style design in order to create kind of a Mario Kart feel. I was careful not to use the same design twice so that every racer is unique. I hope you like them. Let's take a closer look, shall we? First up, we have the BFFs Woody and Buzz. While Buzz's Racer has the usual Star Command color scheme, the colors of Woody's racer is based on the cowboy themed stuff that can be seen all over Andy's room in the first movie. Woody's racer is the one that was most inspired by the videogame. Next we have Jessie's and Stinky Pete's racers. Note how smooth and sleek young Jessie's kart is while the old Prospector's kart is rather boxy and old-looking. Then there are the villains from Toy Story 2 & 3, Zurg and Lotso. Since I don't have any magenta colored bricks, I thought it would be neat if Lotso's racer would be a mini version of his dump truck. Like on the Zurgmobile, I had to remove Zurg's lower body (and cape) and replace it with a different piece in order to be able to seat him in his racer. In order to secure victory, Lotso had his henchmen enter the race too. Here we have Chunk and the driver of Lotso's Dump Truck. Since the idea of a mini dump truck was already used, I had the chance to make a dark blue racer! I think it came out very nicely! Chunk's kart is meant to look very "rough around the edges" to match his rock monster look. Twitch and Stretch get in on the fun too. Twitch's kart came out more citrus-colored than I expected. Perhaps I should have gone with a mini garbage truck instead? Oh well, it still looks good, I think. Note how Stretch's racer is much more organic in shape than Zurg's. But don't worry, our heroes have a little help from their friends too! Here are Hamm and Rex in their beastly racers! While Rex's kart has the features of a dinosaur, Hamm's is a big slice of ham on wheels. Last, but not least, there are Sarge and the little green alien. Sarge's kart is basically a slightly smaller version of the Army Men Jeep. And there's only one word to describe the LGM's kart: Ooooooh! The only Toy Story character who doesn't have a kart is Bullseye, but he doesn't need one since he can "ride like the wind" already. You can find hi-res version of the pics in this brickshelf folder and on my flickr. Now that I have introduced all the racers, we are ready to race! Ready, Set, Go! Vote for your favorite in the poll above, and let's see who wins! I'm gonna go ahead and give Buzz a head start.
