Don't get me wrong, I still like LoK, and it's definitely still one of the best cartoons out there right now. It's just having a hard time living up to A:TLA in my opinion. And no, of course the technology is not the only thing that defines the culture of this world, but it's one of the big factors that play into its definition. Yes, it still has its own culture, but it's not as distinct as in ATLA where it was unique from nation to nation. In LoK, all nations are mixed together in one city, strengthening the feeling of a slightly more Asian-influenced version of America of the 1930s and making it a bit less original. I have also yet to see a truly creative use of bending in this show. One of the best things in A:TLA was not the fact that people had these powers, but what they did with them. We haven't even seen Korra in the Avatar State yet, and it's not like she hasn't been in a situation that could have triggered it. I gotta admit, though, those BioShock-esque mech suits in the latest episode were pretty cool. Again, I think they're doing a pretty good job with this series. Perhaps it's just my personal taste that puts LoK a level below ATLA for me. As for Green Lanter, yes, it's pretty good too and has potential. While I'd take the DCAU-style traditional animation over the CGI any day, the CGI style is reminiscent of The Incredibles and works surprisingly well. It's kinda sad to say that the animation, characters, plot, and action are all much better than those of The Clone Wars. I too hope that it will run for a while. Young Justice somewhat dug its own grave, I'm afraid, with that large time jump. It feels like we missed a whole season of the show. The one show I really like, though, is ThunderCats! I love it! It has retained it's top-notch animation, voice-acting, epic storytelling, and kid-friendly humor since the beginning and is getting better with nearly every episode! I look forward to the season finale and hope that it will go on strong after that!

This is simple, but pretty neat. The thing I don't like about it is the duplicate characters. Some of them work since they're generic enough, such as General Veers, but others not so much. I would use the plain golden microfig from Lego Champion as C-3PO instead of the second Chewbacca, a microfig mummy as Dengar instead of the second Boba Fett, and most importantly, the hologram Darth Sidious as the king instead of the second Vader. Can't think of a good substitute for Leia, so we'll have to pretend that the second Luke is Wedge or something.

Excellent entries, everyone! Keep them coming! You have one more week to submit your builds!

Thanks. I'm glad you like them. Here's some more fun with Cap and Iron Man, although this time it's the other who is getting made fun of: Bobble-Shellhead by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Since you seem to enjoy funnies with the Hulk, here's another: Hulk Junior by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr And this is a play on one of Thor's lines from the Avengers movie: Game Face by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

Thanks again. Here's a funny that many have been waiting for: Cap-Tan America by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr And here's some other themes being invaded by the Avengers: The Incredible Harry by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The Cap in the Iceberg by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Just because he has a big "A" on his forehead and missed a whole war because he was frozen in ice doesn't mean he's the Avatar. Poor Cap. I think I'm making fun of him too much.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - Season 5 Discussion
Oky replied to LEGOman273's topic in Culture & Multimedia
The trailer looks promising. Lots of action, and Hondo is finally back. But this wouldn't be the first time a trailer was deceiving... We'll have to wait and see. StarWars.com. Skip to slide 5. I'm sure the resemblance to cylons is just coincidental, although still pretty neat. -
Thank you! All you have to do is spend $20+ on an Avengers set. It's not like he's hard to come by (as this funny proves).

They probably could do it with the non-licensed ones, but I'm not so sure about the licensed ones. I think they're doing it just in case something like the issue with the Star Wars magnets comes up, but who knows.

Not bad. I really like (and agree on) the Nice Skin one. Here are some more from me. The first one is kind of an ironic follow-up to my fire safety funny. Well, well, so we finally get a picture of this set! It certainly isn't anything too exciting, but I was already expecting it to be Ock's lab since he never leaves it in the show, and there really isn't anything else from the show that a set with this title could have been based on. I like laboratory settings, and this looks like a nice parts pack if anything, so I'll be getting it. Not really. In fact, the whole purpose of the introduction of that bike was just to make that joke. All Spidey did with that bike was to drive it uncontrollably through the city (due to not having learned how to drive, unbeknown to Fury and the rest of SHIELD, which is actually kind of silly), proving to Fury that he is not ready to have his own ride, and he has not been allowed to use it ever since, which may be the reason why it's not included in the set (other than the fact that it seems to be based on an entirely different episode). Yeah, there are more villains with vehicles than heroes. I can imagine a lot of villain-based sets, but not many hero-based ones, unless Lego makes something up, like Cap's Avenging Cycle or any of those obscure vehicles that Batman and Robin drive. By the way, I don't know if it has been mentioned, but there is a new Super Heroes Magnet Set on Brickset containing Superman, Wonder Woman, and Two Face for some reason.

Thanks, guys! And I'm glad you like it, LEGOman. As I already explained on Flickr, this is meant to take place after the destruction of the first Death Star, so before he found out about his daughter. But yeah, this probably would have worked better with Oola...

I think I find myself enjoy Legend of Korra less and less. It just seems to lack the originality that A:TLA had. The world the characters live in feels more like a slightly different version of our world rather than its own fantastical world as it did in ATLA, being made out of things from the 20th century (automobiles, phonographs, radios, etc.). The stories aren't all that original either. The plot of the episode The Spirit of Competition was downright cliche, with your typical love triangle. Oh well, I'll try to stay hopeful that the series will surprise me at some point. Me too, and it's because of two things: 1. The awesome intro. I miss the days when it wasn't ruined by that lame narrator! 2. The epic battles. The current season focuses more on the Avengers being taken down from the inside as opposed to them getting incredibly powerful foes thrown at them. Heck, there was hardly any physical fighting going on in the last episode. Not to say that this is bad, just that it is always more fun to see superheroes fight bad guys rather than argue amongst themselves. In my opinion, they still haven't been able to top that Graviton episode which was pure awesome. I don't think it's that bad. It was much worse in Planet Hulk. There he talked completely normal and seemed almost calm at times, and he even slept without turning into Banner. Hehe, thought you might like that show. While it's nothing to write home about, it's definitely a fun show.

I don't think it will be any more childish than Ninjago or any of those other Lego animations with voices, and those aren't bad.

You mean the carrot top? How do you know it's supposed to be Marijuana? It doesn't really look like it, but it would make sense. A much cooler easter egg in that set is the "Make Lego models, not war" tile, which is a neat play on the old hippie slogan "Make love, not war".

Monster Fighters is obviously a good source of superhero figs. Not only does it provide us with a ManBat, but a Lagoon Boy as well! Also, the Moria Orc hairpiece from LOTR should be useful for making a custom Beast Boy, even though the hair is too long in the back. Simply put it on top of an Army Men, Castle troll, or Hulk head (whichever looks better with the olive green ears) with a purple torso, black arms, green or gray hands, purple or gray hips, and black legs.

Yes, it's MISB, and yes, I'm in the US. Sorry, I don't have chrome Vader and 3PO (wish I did though) and my droids aren't the droids you're looking for. Take your time and shoot me a pm if you're interested.

How about a White Boba?

I agree about the hair. And here you go.

Those videos are looking good, although it's disappointing to see that after we got Clancy Brown for Luthor, Superman sounds nothing like he did in the DCAU. Oh well, at least Harley sounds just like she should! Supergirl looks alright. I love the leg printing, but that hairpiece is way overused now. That's very old news. And no need to be sad, the US has the same promotion.

If that's not a kickass LUG name plate, I don't know what is! Nice work.

Thanks! And yes, we need more funnies with TC-14. I can't think of any right now, though, so have these instead: Cheap Head by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Aayla Insecura Aayla Insecura by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Holocron Heist by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

Is it just me, or is the forum skin kinda broken? It looks fine when I open a thread, but in the main forum, the black pattern of the background is gone, and it's dark blue where it should have a gray gradient, and part of the banner is missing too.
