  1. I already made one before the LOTR sets were even released. Hehe, nice ones. However, I didn't get the second one until I read the description. It would have been clearer if Deadpool would have addressed Magneto by his name. Your funnies are funny, especially the TwoFace one! Okay, some more from me. The first one is something I found odd about the new Lego Batman videogame: Lego Batman 2: Batman's Broke by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Gandalf the White became Gandalf the Pink when one of his red sock accidentally got into the laundry with his robes ones day. He was not happy about his new appearance as it attracted the unwanted attention of certain other wizards. Gandalf the Pink by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr LEGO Tabloit by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Seriously, has anyone actually read the article on the newspaper in the Catwoman set? You'd think it would be about Batman or, you know, something related to the DC Universe, but no, it's just a lame, generic, nonsensical story with bad grammar. This is what it reads:
  2. Wow, thanks for all the votes, everyone! And congrats to my fellow winners, especially my friend Kiel and my like-minded competitor Sok117! Looks like your NightHawk triumphed over mine after all. Very well deserved, although all the entries were great. Also, thanks to LuxorV and a special thanks to The Penguin for offering these generous prizes! Go Dynamic Trio!
  3. Nice shot, but I agree about the posing. They look more like they're waiting for the StarSpeeder 3000 to pick them up.
  4. Nice work, and congratulations on first place! Well deserved, I'd say. Nice use of those printed parts (although I would have expected Darth to have a bit more manly notes ), and although I don't remember hearing a piano in the Imperial March, it sure looks nice in this MOC.
  5. Well, apparently it was only "technically cancelled" (whatever that means), and as this catalog proves, it will still be released. Thanks for the link!
  6. Great work everyone, especially you, Sextant! Now that I'm back from vacation, I guess it's time to defend my title. Here's my attempt at a LOTR funny: Hobbit Shoes by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr And here's another theme crossover. Thanks to just2good for the idea. Wolverine's Worshippers by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Some fun with the Ultrabuild Iron Man: Liquid Energy by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  7. As far as I know, the Batman sets didn't have any exclusive parts, so yes, I'd say it would be much cheaper bricklinking the parts, especially if you're not planning to get the figs (which cost about as much as the set they came in).
  8. They most likely will. The exact same thing happened with the other Marvel sets.
  9. Indeed a very good price! I had expected $40 since it has 17 more pieces than the Batwing set, so it is surprising that it actually costs less than that set.
  10. There's some good news today after all! Well, kind of. The Spidey set has popped up on Walmart.com, but it's unavailable as of yet: http://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-Super-Heroes-Spiderman-s-Doc-Ock-Ambush-Play-Set/21095586
  11. Fair enough. Let's agree to disagree and just wait and see what S2 will bring. Nothing wrong with loving the Powerpuff Girls! It's still one of the best shows CN has ever put out, along with any other shows Genndy Tartakovsky and Lauren Faust have worked on (except maybe Symbionic Titan which sadly only started getting good towards its cancellation)!
  12. I'm guessing Ross' appearance in IM3 (if it's true) will be one of those post-credit things, much like his first encounter with Tony. The only such instance I can think of was this article which MaxBrick linked to and which claims that a Lego rep said that, but since there is no proof that they actually said that, I would wait to hear it first-hand. Hopefully SDCC will shed some light on this.
  13. Well, it technically is just one reference (Private being a fan of a show about unicorns) but they're beating that joke to death by revealing other characters on the show to be fans of it as well, and having the other penguins constantly make cynical remarks about him liking the show, etc. Nothing too bad, especially compared to what Bronies usually have to endure, but it does get annoying after a while.
  14. Really? Where did you hear that? I thought it was pretty good too and don't see how one could have hated it. We even finally got to see Korra in the Avatar state, as brief and tacked-on-at-the-end as it may have been. Now that Amon is dead (he must be dead; otherwise his death scene would have been pointless) I'm guessing that Lieutenant "Moustache Guy" will take over as leader of the equalists and devise a new plan for getting rid of benders, perhaps with some kind of invention from Hiroshi. We'll have to wait and see. It's indeed sad to hear that Avengers:EMH will be ending soon. It's a great show, and while the rumors for the next Avengers show sound promising, I doubt that it will be able to replace it. And I sure hope that rumor about a Teen Titans comedy show is as false as it sounds. That would be just stupid. By the way, anyone still watching Penguins of Madagascar? The show is getting stale, and recently they have been increasingly making fun of bronies.
  15. I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Twilight yet. Never has a $100 set been less appealing. It's about the ugliest ship in the SW universe; it's way underscaled; it has only four minifigs which no one really wants for various reasons; it has absolutely no interesting pieces unless you're desperate for gray plates; and it doesn't have much playability unless you buy a Separatist craft to chase/fight it. Heck, even its name makes me wanna hurl since it reminds me of a certain series of books and movies. At least the SW bucket had lots of interesting/rare/useful parts and some podracers you could race.
  16. Yeah, I think a Marvel/Avengers game is pretty much inevitable. I also agree that it would be great if it had the free-roam environment of Lego Batman 2. Not sure if I would prefer it if they used the soundtrack from the movie like they are doing for LOTR or if they made their own voices. On one hand, having Robert Downey Jr's voice just might save giant-headed Iron Man from being ridiculous (I'm kinda hoping they will shrink his helmet for the game), but on the other hand having new voices opens up the possibilty of a new story which could involve Wolverine and Spidey, and some villains other than Loki. Plus I would LOVE to see what kind of antics they would come up with for Deadpool!
  17. Say hello to Okivia!
  18. "That's called Sokka-style - Learn it!" Awesome Moc from one of my favorite episodes! The transforming feature is nicely done! Your other latest Mocs were good as well. That Koizilla sure is impressive! Keep it up!
  19. Great idea for a themed month/season! I wonder who came up with it. Awesome contest as well! This is the excuse I've been waiting for to get the Pink Brick Box and some Friends sets. The third category is right up my alley! I'm glad to see it has now been split into two subsections! The new animal category sounds fun too, as do the other two categories. I have lots of ideas already, so I'll try to enter them all! This will be a fun summer! By the way, Pandora, you might want to update the following bit in the first post as well:
  20. I think saying that Lego should produce sets on licenses which already have a complete series of episodes/movies is irrational. Themes are most popular while they're ongoing, so TLG has to release sets during that time. The line-up of sets and minifigs may have better quality if they are produced after the completion of the story arc of a licensed theme, but what's the point having slightly better sets if there is no or little demand for them? It's just not profitable, so they have to make some compromises. And quite frankly, I'm just fine with that, even if it means the cancellation of potentially great themes such as Avatar. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to wait for the Avengers sets until after the release of The Avengers 3! You also have to keep in mind that most of the so-called errors in sets are made by choice, such as the inclusion of Iron Man in Loki's Cosmic Cube Escape for the sake of having an exclusive/desirable fig and one of the main four Avengers in the set.
  21. You're welcome! I'm always happy to watch it again myself. For having built this from memory, you did a great job representing the scene! But perhaps you might want to replace the antenna with a flick-fire missile with a blue light bulb to represent the beacon from the short film better. Looking forward to the pictures!
  22. Wow, I love it already! Being a huge WALL-E fan, the resemblance was instantly recognizable to me! With the droid-shaped hole, the antenna, and the "rail" markings on the floor, it's highly reminiscent of the short film BURN-E. Brilliant parallel! I look forward to seeing this completed!
  23. Yes, I would say that right now is a Golden Age for Lego. Not sure when it started, but the brand is definitely doing very well at the moment. They have some pretty popular licenses going on, and their in-house themes such as Ninjago, Monster Fighters, and (most importantly ) Friends are doing exceptionally well too, not to mention all the awesome exclusives. The videogames, movies, and TV Shows are getting better and more popular as well, so it's all looking up. But who knows, maybe it will get even better at some point, so the true golden age might still be to come.
  24. I think it's just the black ones, but I can't be sure. Mind providing a picture? Possibly even a comparison with a non-aligning head?
  25. Thanks. And yes, that blue torso is pretty sweet. I was actually considering using it for Liz, but there were several problems with that. It doesn't really have that dark Gothamite look I was going for, it has a yellow neck print, and it says "2011 The Lego Store South Coast Plaza" on the back.
