  1. Thanks! Pretty happy with the boat. It was kind of a proof of concept for me, will probably build some class 1 or 2 gunboats and sloops using this technique in the future. And you know how the saying goes.....Dead Men Tell No Tales
  2. June 620, Somewhere along the northern coast of El Oleonda The Hephaestus, a frigate crewed by a mercenary group of Sea Rats, and carrying a Letter of Marque from Carno, spotted a lone Lotii War junk of the coast of El Oleonda. Fearing the greater firepower of the enemy, the Lotii changed coarse to make for the nearest protected bay. In the ensuing chase, the Lotii, being unfamiliar with the waters, ran their ship into a reef, where it subsequently broke up. The crew of the Hephaestus, hauled to, and sent their launch into the shallow waters to survey the wreckage. Upon reaching the wreckage, the captain spots some remaining Lotii crew clinging to floating debris. The Captain surveys the scene, and orders his men "To arms! Send every last one of them to the depths! There can be no survivors!" The men take aim, and fire upon the Lotii. "Well done men, an extra ration of rum for all of ye! And one less lot of these blasted mongrels on the seas" exclaimed the Captain, and they rowed back to their ship, their mission complete. My submission for Challenge III, Category D(A).
  3. Yeah. The only similar Lego one Ive seen is the one from the Adventurers sets, that opens up. But it still doesn't have clips, just slide in loops for accessories. And its much too bulky.
  4. The backpack is from BrickWarriors, and the flintlocks are indeed Brickarms. The backpacks, while I'm not fond of the color, were the only ones I found with clips on the sides, which is what I wanted.
  5. June 620, El Oleonda With their contract to hunt down Lotii forces fulfilled, the remaining Black Fang Rangers rendezvous at their predetermined rally point, and begin the trek through the jungle back to the western shores of the island, where their transport ship is waiting to return them to New Nassau. Each Ranger carries in his pack the canine teeth of every Lotii soldier killed by their hand. While more civilized people may be appalled by such an action, the Rangers do this to provide proof of their kills, for both each other, and for any possible benefactor, in this case the Carnite empire. Unit: Black Fang Rangers Type: Rangers, specializing in guerilla and irregular warfare Uniform: Black jacket with yellow trim, green undershirt and trousers, brown wide-brimmed hat. Officers substitute black sleeves for green. Equipment: Brown/black/gray packs, latest model of flintlock muskets, hatchet or machete for cutting through brush and jungle, secondary melee weapon such as a cutlass or knife. Unit Description and History: The Rangers are the only unit of the Black Wolf Company comprised solely of native Vikendians. Its ranks are filled with skilled trackers, forestmen, and guerilla fighters among the Amarok people. Each member was hand selected by their leader, Gunnar Haraldson. Haraldson is widely regarded as the best tracker in Vikendia, and is a brilliant tactician. He still dresses in traditional Vikendian ranger garb. Haraldson's reputation commands a deep respect from his fellow rangers. All of his men are devoted to him, and follow without question. For Ragnarrson and the Black Wolf Company, the Rangers are the most trusted and valued unit in the company. With only native Amarok soldiers, they are above reproach and cannot be tempted by meddling imperialists to spy or otherwise divulge valuable information. The Rangers operate independent of the rest of the Black Wolf Company forces, often deploying ahead of the main forces, or on side missions to distract the enemy. Their guerilla warfare skills make them exceptional at disrupting enemy supply lines and convoys, along with planning ambushes and sabatoge missions. Although recently arrived in Terra Nova, the Rangers quickly acclimated to the warmer climate and jungles, as other than temperature, they are very similar to the dense forests of Vikendia. Many of the Rangers are veterans of multiple wars in Vikendia. Because of the tribal makeup of the continent, there was almost always some sort squabble occurring at a given time between the many clans. For the Amarok, the most recent conflicts were the Great Nordian War, and the Invasion of the Laikan Peninsula. In both cases, the Amarok had to defend their homeland or property from a larger invading force, and utilized many ranger and guerilla units to wreak havoc on the invading enemy, eventually cutting off the bulk of the army leaving them without support to face the main Amarok forces. Haraldson forged his reputation during these conflicts, as a fearless warrior and tactician, fighting alongside Ragnarsson against their enemies. Being so far from home, without a reasonable supply of reinforcements, Haraldson has been keenly watching the training of the new recruits, looking for any that show promise to become rangers.... ___________________________________ The whole unit. Gunnar Haraldson standard Ranger The Rangers were first seen here, although I have since made a few small changes to their equipment
  6. Yeah, that's actually something I mentioned in my "Docks of New Nassau" build. I currently have very few gray tiles. At some point I'll be making a Bricklink order with a nice selection of tiles so I can create textured floors. I've currently been doing a good amount of army building, and most of the minifigure sellers don't have a great selection of other parts. Yeah, those base plates were my inspiration for the ramp. Particularly the Imperial Trading Post set, which I drooled over in the catalogs so much as a kid.
  7. The Grotto is absolutely fantastic! An amazing dual layer build. They way you got the underwater portion to appear teeming with sea life is spectacular.
  8. - Flintlock, Stock, and One Smoking Barrel. Licensed as a small commerce. Thread here. - The Docks (no license, free build as an add on to Flintlock). Thread here. The Black Wolf Company has opened their warehouse on the docks of New Nassau. To be licensed as a large commerce.
  9. I originally built this as property for the Brethren of the Brick Seas section, but I figured it would be worth posting here as well, as I'm pretty pleased with the final result, and its my largest build I've attempted to date. I'm a sucker for the classic pirates era, and the color scheme of many of the original sets was my main inspiration for the build. I tried to find a balance in the building of including nostalgic color combinations, but with some newer techniques more realistic details. In addition, I wanted to tell a story with the minifigures of dock area teeming with life, without it being overcrowded or cluttered. Here is a little closer look at some of the details in and around the warehouse.... BWC sailors unloading their boat to restock the warehouse. Crew members of a certain notorious Pirate ship waiting outside while their comrade concludes a purchase inside A few Natives stand outside chatting, while two BWC soldiers guard the front gate. Gate open, with the warehouse workers bring in barrels Obligatory photo New Nassau's resident drunkard, Capt. Ironhook, still enjoying retirement and living his best life Wrapping up a transaction.... Gifts from the natives in honor of their trade agreement What's through the gate? A secondary exit, and some chests of booty. That's about it for this one. This is probably the biggest project I've taken on thus far, and it definitely stretched some of my brick collection with certain colors. This is also part of the reason why the white roof isn't complete all the way to the back, as I ran out of white flat plate pieces. But, it also makes viewing the interior easier. C&C welcome as always!
  10. Thanks! I definitely put a good amount of thought into this one, over multiple iterations to finally get it right. Especially being something this large, I wanted to make sure it had enough detail so it didn't look "empty". Thank you gentlemen! I was initially worried about size for licensing, then I remembered the Sea Rat 50% discount . And being able to add all that extra detail definitely improved the overall build tenfold.
  11. With the success of Lock, Stock, and One Smoking Barrel in New Nassau, Ragnarrson and the Black Wolf Company have deemed the settlement suitable to expand their operations on Isla de Barro. They have further expanded the Docks, to now reach their newest property, the Black Wolf Company warehouse. The warehouse was built to be the trade hub of New Nassau. While Flintlock deals in weapons and arms, the warehouse is where individuals and pirate crews alike can go to purchase stores for voyages, or to maybe procure some imported products from Halos. Here is a little closer look at some of the details in and around the warehouse.... BWC sailors unloading their boat to restock the warehouse. 12. Stunning creation! I had considered doing a dual layered build like this in the future, so I'll definitely add this to reference when the time comes.
  13. Even your small boats are brimming with detail and have a certain grace to their curves. Well done!
  14. This is amazing. Absolutely fantastic job accurately recreating the details of such a weapon.
  15. Keep an eye out on Bricklink. I watched daily for 3 weeks for a set to pop up in the US that wasn't overpriced. I ended up paying $265 shipped. Which is about what you'd probably pay from Lego anyways, after adding on tax and shipping.
  16. I love your nuts! I wish I had the patience to digitally build stuff on this scale.....I always start, and before I get anywhere, I get frustrated, and give up
  17. The Black Wolf Company would support the Terraversans in their efforts to secede and join the free peoples of the Sea Rats. Our newest troops are almost done training, and would relish in the thought of battle so soon. Nice simple MOC. Love the printing press design, and the fancy chair. Well done!
  18. Thank you for these. Helped out greatly!
  19. Thanks. I kind of just stumbled upon it looking for a wolf logo. Worked out great too, since there are custom decals and such readily available..
  20. @Bodi do you have any detailed pics of how you designed your stern area on this ship? I particularly like how it only moderately flares out, in comparison to some of the more ornate and elaborate designs. I'm currently building a frigate, and want a similarly simple stern area. I've just been having trouble figuring out how to go about building it. Thanks in advance!
  21. Love the micro scale ships! And the story as well. I wanted to build something similar for the category, but quickly realized I have almost none of the parts needed for micro builds lol.
  22. This should be our Faction moto
  23. Yes, I was definitely trying to match his style from his first build. For one, its classic pirates combination that will never go out of style. Also, I happen to have a good amount of white and yellow bricks, so it makes building in that style fairly easy. Thank you sir! Excited to see what you have planned! I need to complete my first month cycle, so I have some doubloons at my disposal to begin licensing future builds. Currently prototyping a few ideas to see what I want to build next as well.
  24. Awesome concept, on something that would often be overlooked in favor of more exciting topics to build. Love the transitions from clearing the road to laying down the paving stones.
