LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
ForgedInLego replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah, I thought I was a hardcore fan, but wow. I was part of that 90% and didn't know Boba was different in ROTJ until I saw it pointed out on this forum.... The whole building part is what got me into Lego in the first place and is still the reason I'm a fan. Instead of the endless complaints about how other themes have better minifigs, I wish Star Wars had the same "advanced playsets" that Marvel does, like the Milano (which I still might get, less because I'm a GOTG fan, more because its a cool spaceship). And no, I don't mean MBS sets like Avengers Tower, or the Cantina which don't have as many interesting build techniques in my opinion These complaints about minifig inaccuracies are not wrong per se, but it feels like more and more like the only praise or criticism a set gets comes down to the minifigs... -
Which one? Lego 75367 Venator vs Thire5 [MOC] Vigilance
ForgedInLego replied to phaelon's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There really aren't any wrong answers here I think Thire's model looks much better, a combo of much more advanced building techniques and the live action Venator design which I prefer. The real difference comes down to price: the set costs $650, Thire estimates the price of the parts at between $1200 and $1500. If you've got the budget for it I think the MOC, but the set does still look fantastic -

https://rebrickable.com/instructions/6211-1/ Looks like Lego did actually make instructions for it! Usually (I thought) the alt build models were built only for the box art photoshoot to inspire kids to build their own stuff

I looked back at the survey pics too, and the final Barad Dur model looks significantly different than the survey pic (although there are some details that are the same, like the tops of the turrets and the A wing fin door frame). With an even longer time gap between the survey and production, I think there is a ton of room for the size to shift around. TBH the survey pic looked like a very basic model, just plates with scattered tiles, not even the fins on the back or the deck gun. That being said, with how Lego's pricing has been lately, I don't have high hopes -
Welcome! Getting the rotating assembly for the wings to hold together at that scale is already an impressive feat, but the detailing throughout is impeccable! Like @jp-30 said, I especially love those technic panels used on the fuselage, it really blends together well with the system bricks. Nice job!

I'm ok with them skipping the dual molded legs and printed arms to better match the classic fig, but I don't see his cape and that has me worried....also hoping his classic smile is on the other side of the head. Overall this is a vast improvement over the last Delta 7, $40 doesn't seem as ridiculous as other sets this wave because of the added bulk, but I'll wait for more pics, especially with the other figs -

Weird if the ewok village leak is real, we haven't even seen the sail barge yet! I'm guessing (if real) that this is an October UCS as the May UCS set is usually much smaller. Which just makes it more weird this far in advance with how good Lego has gotten about leaks recently. I'd love to be proved wrong, but I don't believe this one. -

For me its the opposite! I mainly want the ISD, and don't care much for Cal (played the game for a bit, but couldn't really get into it). Maybe I can find a much cheaper Cal-less ISD? -

As you wish! I tried a couple different techniques including using trans red, but this turned out the best. I think the designer used the candlestick pieces just to keep the eye centered -

I think it is safe to say that there will be another set in the Rivendell / Barad Dur price range, seeing how much demand there was, but nothing more than speculation on exactly what it will be. Remember, sets usually take 2 years from concept to on shelves, so 2025 we'll see the first set fully designed after the success of Rivendell (and Barad Dur) Also I fixed the ugly black bars from the Eye of Sauron with 2x Antenna 4H - Flat Top and 4x Plate, Round 1 x 1 with Open Stud in trans clear, with little to no impact on friction / stability. Let me know what you think! -

Regardless of LAN, there is just a LOT of competition in the review space, it's very hard to stand out. I'm also on YouTube as a MOC maker rather than a reviewer, but I get it. For me, the antilan comes from the "Why This $20000 Set is a MUST BUY" review coming out just about every month nowadays. They know that the more positive they are, the more stuff they get for review and the more $ they get from any affiliated links. On the other hand, it is valuable to have reviews out before a set releases to get more details on the product you want to buy potentially day one, and there are some genuinely very good videographers out there. I just wish reviewers could be negative about a set without compromising their standing in LAN. Anyway I'm biased, so feel free to ignore everything I say -

Looking at how the eye is attached, I think it actually has some side to side movement! Not a lot, but enough for the ends of the eye to move about a stud in either direction. Honestly, I am a little worried about the friction of the stacked candlestick pieces over time, hopefully it won't have any problems keeping the eye from looking down all the time -

I'd agree with you, but it doesn't make sense to me to not include Gollum in this scene as well.....maybe Osgiliath from the end of TTT with Sam and Frodo? -

It fits perfectly around the 1x4 curved slope! You all are right about the color though, looking closer it is opaque -

It looks like 62361 in trans orange for the slit! The real question is whether the brown, almost dark tan is the color of the parts or just the lighting (kinda hope its actually black, but of course I need more pics to judge) -

Unless I counted wrong, this Star destroyer is 6 studs shorter than the 2014 one and probably 3 studs thinner, just FYI Overall I like the design, the exterior looks more visually interesting than previous designs, looks like it imitates the UCS at a much smaller scale. The interior does suffer however, due to the smaller scale. Will i buy it? Maybe, it might be fun to mod a stand and underside to finish off that "Mini UCS" look, but I'll wait for a sale -

I like the droid carrier! looks like a remake of 7126 rather than a new version of the in universe ship -
Yep! you can find them all here: https://rebrickable.com/users/ForgedInLego/mocs/

That looks great, don't worry too much about "minifig scale" its a pretty wide range. is that a handle I spot on the top?

I wouldn't rule it out, if the leg "ball" can rotate around the spine, I think it would be able to roll up fairly well even though the legs are fixed in place. Def need more pictures, but if it doesn't that just gives me another project!
