Forgive me if this is unreliable at high torques, but could you power only the blind wheel and drive the flanged wheels with the connecting rods? With a proper 90 degree offset and axles between the wheels, it will leave more space for structure on the inside while using half the gears. Either way, keep up the good work, that double motor setup is awesome!

Sounds good to me, your post has my blessing! My flickr page has more pics if you think one looks better

Done @DarthUrban I attempted to post on r/legostarwars a couple days ago, but it flagged my post for manual review because my acc is new, we'll see what happens

If someone has already made a .io file of the unmodified set that I can use I won't charge for instructions, but if I have to make it all from scratch I'll have to charge a few bucks. I was thinking about just making a video tutorial, but that would probably end up being very hard to follow with the amount of changes I made. Thanks for your interest!

I do have progress! Sorry its been slow going, I have taken most of it apart and started over several times now, but I think its almost done. There are a few things i would like to improve, like the jagged hull plating and the back hangar wall, but I am pretty happy with how its going. Getting the gap down the middle smaller has been much more of a challenge than I expected, but I think it is acceptable now, and structure hasn't been compromised too much.

Mandr / lifebricks / that crowd will probably have in hand reviews up before the reveal again lmao, especially for this set -
Luckily, my experience has been much more kind than many others. Yeah, people thought it was a little weird as a teen, but my friends were supportive even if they weren't interested in Lego and it helped me bond with my younger brothers. I think building Lego MOCs eventually inspired me to become an engineer and since I started working a couple months ago at an aerospace company so no one can really criticize me about it. Several other people even decorate their desks with Lego stuff in the office!

Yeah, the database Studio uses for part availability relies on Bricklink, so while its down there will be problems...
-
The site has to be down while he's in there to prevent a lot of frustration, so I guess he's hoping the loss in sales will drive Bricklink to just pay the ransom? With the resources TLG has, I don't think the downtime will be anything too drastic

As someone who has the Venator I am VERY happy that Rex is no longer exclusive. No one should have to spend $650 to get their favorite character. Plus I hate the scalper market very funny that he is coming in a $12 set. I still think Yularen will stay exclusive, but I do very much hope we get a generic republic officer hat and all soon. -
What to do when a knock off brand steals your moc?
ForgedInLego replied to legoMoccer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Yeah just got stung with this too. I'm assuming there's no easy way to report Ebay listings? They use the renders (and even the photos) I made. They also have a listing on Cada's website right now, I used the "contact us" box, we'll see if that goes anywhere... I guess you know you've made it as a MOC maker when Chinese companies start stealing your work -

Never heard of him before, but I'll give him the standard "If what you've told me is true, you will have gained my trust. But for now, remain here. Wait in the Council chambers until we receive more reliable information" -
Thank you! That looks great! I might try something to make that section a little easier to access, but one thing at a time. Unfortunately not yet, I have the idea on how to do it, but it involves ripping out most of what I did, so I'm not going to have time to do it until this weekend. I did just buy a massive bucket-o-bricks, so fingers crossed I won't need to bricklink anything :) Threw something together pretty quick, let me know what you think!

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
ForgedInLego replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don't think it is a new part, it looks like a bunch of the new 4x8 upside down tiles. On the front half you can clearly see 4x 2x2, 2x 1x3, and 1x 4x8 inverted tiles making up that shape. There is probably structural technic / sideways building connecting the back of the cantilever all the way to the baseplate (looks like the swoopy bit on the side is part of it). This means the individual floors will not be separatable below the landing pad, which is why the individual floors are so tall. On another note, what do you think is the best route for collecting several of the mini Quinjets? The possibility of a functional Helicarrier is very tempting right now... -

Not so much interested in the tower, but the Quinjet has me intrigued. Will it be the original Shield version to fit with the Avengers final battle or the Avengers version with the folding wings that actually lands on the platform? Would it be possible to build a Helicarrier for the smaller scale planes? I've already got enough projects right now, but its fun to think about -

Did we ever figure out what the "Space" CMF is? I've heard people dismiss it as Star Wars because of licensing issues with Hasbro, but I thought that was a myth. Desirable, not as "essential" figures being rumored, no rumored sets they might fit in (yet).... -
I've seen a lot of people waiting to see mods to the UCS Venator, so I'll start this off with my WIP of the main hangar bay The two sections are held together at the front end by a technic rubber piece and are actuated by two technic liftarms that are geared together. Not sure if I'll make a gear on the outside, but its easy enough to just pick up one of the panels. Strength is good so far, no observable droop. The very front end needs some work, but I ran out of hinge plates. This takes the second layer of technic bricks off and reinforces it with more technic angled in from the sides I do need to work on keeping the stripe centered at the front and figure out how to make the jagged inner edge of the hull panels look pretty, but I think the hard part is mostly done Let me know if you have any suggestions and feel free to post your own Venator mods here as well!

Ooh very nice! Its like you took the small scale of Lego's most recent AATs and actually made them good! Those 3x3 curved pieces are just perfect, along with all the other complex curves

Got the Venator built, its pretty hassle free moving it around as long as you watch out for the side cannons. There aren't any weak spots around where you want to put your hands, although there is a lot of play between the fore and aft hull plate sections. The build for the center ridge did get a little repetitive especially because it is the bag before Rex, but was otherwise fun. The minifigs look great IRL, despite the lack of kama Rex isn't nearly as bad as Fox (and I think I like him better than Cody because of the weird visor) and Yularen is Yularen, thumbs up for the dual molded legs! -

With the breakneck speed at which shows are coming out I think its less "we don't want to spoil stuff" and more "we haven't finished any cgi all we have is actors on the volumetric set and concept art that may or may not end up in the final cut". I've been a part of many focus groups for shows that are three or four months out with only one episode with any attempt at cgi (bluescreens galore!) With Lego sets usually taking 2 years to develop, of course they are going to get things wrong, so they are playing it a bit safe. Who knows how late in development Enoch and the Nighttrooper designs were finalized? -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think those 2x2 wedge tiles have ever been released in sand blue....same with all the other sand blue parts in the build. :( -

I'll admit I am a bit disappointed with the Venator's GWP, but at least its better than the Razor Crest's. The republic credit is at least a fun idea, but like the entire Lego community I'd prefer Lego. I'm strongly against putting desirable figures in a time / stock limited, $650 paywall, ideally they'd continue the lightsaber thing, maybe Ahsoka's? Oh well, its not a make or break for me Meme in spoiler -
