  1. Welcome to Eurobricks! Great to have you aboard @Trader Brick
  2. 10 years have past and there are much more people into bricks right now. All the other companies sell pirate sets. Just some examples: Bluebrixx offers ships and the whole modular island line, Pantasy offers the fancy and flamboyant Pirate Pub, there are brick companies I have never heared of selling pirate ships such as the Flying Dutchman and locations and even the smallest company of them all, the new Kiddicraft, sells a pirate battlepack with 5 minifigs. The question is, how all these companies can live off these pirate sets while Lego can not. So what is the answer? Would Lego Pirates sets sell so badly, that it would be a loss-making business?? A loss-making business for Lego while all the other companies make profit? And there's always POTC for Lego. And it is the same for castle, even more so! I want to understand so badly why Lego can't make pirate sets while others can!
  3. Isaac Newton's torso now up at PAB online (Maybe out of stock right now).
  4. That's exactly what I want to say! No need for a larger sample size. I am just mocking the BDP a bit because as I said above, for me the BDP sets are not official ones and I think Lego uses the BDP to throw crumbs to the fans so they do not question too much the absence of these themes in the offical catalogue. But again, we have seen many awesome designs within the BDP! But for me these BDP set can not replace a wave of official pirate sets, or castle sets, or trains or.... you name it.
  5. Why no Jaxxon in the snowspeeder? Sales of the set would explode, no?
  6. I don't think a poll on a Lego fan site is representative of the general population
  7. Maybe we should ask the general population if BDP sets are official Lego sets rather than listen to what Lego says themselves. "We are live as we speak and will now get the results from our reporters in the shopping malls and downtown areas of the world. Oh wait, so 99.8% of the population have never heared of such a thing?" Maybe I am joking, maybe not For me the BDP sets are no official sets because I can not go to a store an buy them. These sets are simply a fan service for a very small group of people. Personally I will never get one of the sets. Of course I don't want to take away anything from the designs and we have seen some great mocs from talented builders. Great sets, some of which I wish I could buy, you know, going into a store and pick them up.... I feel like Lego is fine with throwing some die-hard fans a few crumbs, some trains, castle and pirates sets, so these fans do not riot too much... Maybe it was not like this when BDP was all new and fresh but it certainly feels like this now
  8. All Millenium Falcon magazin gift polybags have the "limited edition" slogan printed on it. It's just marketing. Generally, most of the magazine minibuilds have the "limited edition" slogan printed on the bag. It is really nothing special.
  9. Time to resurrect this fun thread! Recently I got Plo Koon's Microfighter and it looks like this will be the only Lego Star Wars set I am getting this year. I just checked the list of all sets at Brickset in case I have forgotten something, but nope, there's nothing Well, there's Qui-Gon, whom I got with one of the magazines. Next week we'll get Ahsoka with the magazine in Germany, which I'll also buy.
  10. The link does not work. And it links to a different website that is reported as a scam site?
  11. Very nice crew! The droid is build cleverly with the helmets but I assume it can be a bit unstable I love the shot with the magnifying glass - first time I see that it actually works (I don't own one). The trooper's helmet shows the right amount of weathering
  12. Wow, this is so good! Love the bar! I like the techniques you used to shape the round platform and that dark heavy looking door is a nice contrast to the rest of the build. We have some flowers and the trans-colored panels add to the atmosphere. I also like the greebling on the underside and that little guy sitting on the pipe haha And again, the edited picture is top notch This bar has to be my favorite
  13. I can only second what the others have said! The shape of the ship, the angles and colors look great! I especially like the red, blue, tan and dark orange splashes of color that add to the rugged look of the ship. The edited picture of the ship high above the city looks fantastic
  14. When you check the part out value at Bricklink, every set has an great value. At least all sets I have checked so far, had a positive value compared to their real price in store. Often the numbers are insane, like for example the 10348 Japanese Maple Tree has a part out value of $200+. The finger leafs alone would cost €27 new at PAB online! The finger leaves and the smaller new stud with leaves start at around 50 cent at Bricklink. What I want to say is, that basically every set has a positive part out value. It remains to be seen how the Juggernaut will do. Yes, and that is exactly the problem i was speaking about! It's easy to boycott something that don't hurt yourself. I would like to own a Thrawn myself (and the other minifigs that come with the set), so I could put the minifig into mocs or use the parts for figbarfs, but I am not buying this ugly monstrosity of a set that Peridea is. Just boycott the set until Lego gets the message. People always want a Thrawn or the Clones or whatever minifig or set is in question. But then nobody should complain about the prices when they buy the sets anyway. Oh, and I am pretty sure most of the people who lament online about the CTT or the MTT will end up buying these sets.... That's what they always do. It's part of the folklore to lament about the prices or wrong details on a clone or question if the designers care and things like that. But I am not speaking about clones per se or the CTT that was brought up. It's a general problem. My long term hope is that Lego eventually will significantly start to loose market share and get's the message this way Cheers
  15. Maybe the owners want a fourth private jet But seriously, I can only repeat myself: no matter how much people will lament online (how the color of a stripe on a clones chest is wrong or how the old iteration of the vehicle many years ago was much better, or how the designers are trolling them with a upside down visor), the vast majority of them will go on and buy the sets in great numbers the very next day. Lego knows this and there is zero incentive to reduce the prices. Maybe even cut some more pieces next time and further up the price, eh?!? The people have all the power and if they would just boycott one set, maybe the aformentioned set, until they hear Lego say "we understand".... I for one, despite liking the minifigs very much, did not buy the abysmal disgrace of a set that is 75385 Ahsoka Tano's Duel on Peridea. But what can one man do?
  16. You can simply upload the image at imgur. That's the website I use for images that I just want to upload and show somewhere but which I don't want to keep for longer. So upload the image at imgur and then you can either add the direct link to the image/image address to your forum post or in case of a forbidden leak send the link via pm Ah yes, the yellow box GWPs - I remember now. Earlier someone suggested Jack's compass, which is also totally possible.
  17. No matter how much people will complain online about the sets at forums, insta, reddit, youtube et al., at the end they all, who complained, will buy the sets! So why should Lego care to change anything? Lego can just go on and cut more pieces and upp the price even more for the next interation of an vehicle.
  18. This is so cool! I love how you buried the TIE in the snow The snowy terrain looks fantastic! Also a fun scene and story with the pan
  19. There's an exlusive GWP rumored to pair with the set at release. Would be the perfect opportunity to include a missing minifig, no?
  20. Phew.... maybe with a laaarge discount.... We'll see.... Hehe yes, Cloud City Luke! Funnily I was thinking about him just yesterday, saying to myself "I wonder how many they overproduced. Someone must have made a typo in a excel table somewhere " The magazines are cool and a great way for starters to get some minifigs, but i wish they would throw in some interesting ones between all the Mandalorians and Clones. We had like 4 Mandalorians in the past years or so, comming with the magazines! At reddit I saw that we will get another Maul soon. Feels like we just got him recently with the magazine. (I don't remember exactly when Maul came last with the magazine, but I got him this way.) We'll get Ahsoka with the mag next month here in Germany, which is good, but there are more interesting minifigs like Aayla, or even Saw, like you mentioned.
  21. What is the price of the snowspeeder? It's the only set I am mildly interested in. To bad interesting minifigs like Aayla never show up in a magazine. She looks great! As does Solitus!
  22. Very nice cantina! I really like how the pole dancing stage is build. And those two spots add some great lightning to the scene (to the dancer). The colorful selection of exquisite liquors, illuminated from behind, looks great and sets a fitting atmosphere for the whole cantina! Great job all around
  23. Nice to meet you Matej Welcome to Eurobricks @Wolfgarr!
  24. Trouble for the sales you say? I seriously wonder how the Endurance is doing? So far I never spent more than 150€ on a set and even that happend only four times or so. I didn't even buy the fantastic Mos Eisley Cantina or beautiful Rivendell. The set I spend ~400€ on must be an absolute super-duper banger and I don't see this ever happening. From a 400€ set I expect 5000+ parts and not 2800 and at least 15, better 20+ minifigs. I don't want to dive too deep into the topic, but I watch a lot of reviews of pirate sets from other companies or Pantasy and Funwhole (now Lumibricks) sets in general and I don't think Lego is able to deliver the quality and quantity (parts, prints, lightning, etc.) I would expect from a 400€ set with the competition in mind. Spending 100€ and occasionally 150€ on plastic bricks... I already feel like an idiot , but 400€, I just can't bring myself to do it. And, even more important. First and foremost I am a moccer. I build a set once, but often I don't even build a set and part it out straight away (like the two botanical sets i recently bought just for the parts, one of them being the insane 10348 Japanese Maple Tree. The palm finger leafs alone cost 27€ new at PAB). So I may build a set once and then take it apart after few days and use the parts for mocs. But a black ship... I am afraid most the parts would be useless for me. I know there were some black ships in history, but for me a Lego ship has to be brown! But enough of talking about myself I am happy for everyone who will enjoy the Pearl, but for me it is an easy pass. I am waiting for POTC 6 and hope we get a wave of playsets. Fingers crossed!
