  1. I don't really have any predictions on when it'll release, but I agree that the release window is largely irrelevant anyway. Once you've missed the immediate window around where the movie releases, it doesn't matter if the merch drops three months or two years after release, especially for someone like Spider-Man. It will sell incredibly well regardless of when Lego puts it out, so I doubt they will be too worried about rushing something out.
  2. I have to say, I've been somewhat tempted to pick this one up the more I've seen it. I already have a billion dragons, but there really aren't any like this one, which is something I appreciate. I hope going forward they really try to differentiate them more in how the main bodies are constructed, since that's really what stands out when you build them (which to be fair is something we've seen with other recent dragons, like the Jungle Dragon).
  3. I don't really have much to say that hasn't already been said: nice set, not so nice price (though my opinion could change once I see it some more). I do wonder what this means for the $70 BoBF set (it is confirmed to be for that right?). There was speculation it was going to be a Rancor pit, and while that's not impossible, I feel like they probably would have designed this set with that in mind if we were getting one anytime soon.
  4. This is purely speculation, but my guess is that they probably prefer not to print on them if they don't have to since they aren't large and they have a lot of non-flat surfaces. The other thing is that it generally isn't necessary; the regular snakes look fine without any printing since they're dual-molded. It would be cool if there was printing, but Lego probably just figures it's not needed.
  5. I hadn't thought of Star-Lord's helmet before, but that makes way too much sense not to happen eventually. I think they might wait until GoTG3 to make it, but I would be surprised if we don't see one at some point in the next few years.
  6. The Darktrooper set is certainly my favorite Star Wars set of the year thus far, I don't even like the scene that much but the set itself looks great. As others have noted, the price is pretty terrible, but it's cheap enough that I won't feel too ripped off if I just buy one or two. Plus it'll definitely go on sale sooner or later, and once it's 20% off I think the value will be there for sure.
  7. Glad the hammer exists for people who want it, but I personally I really don't like it all that much. For me it's not even the kind of thing where I think it's cool but wouldn't buy it since I'm not really into display pieces like that, I just think it looks like a big gray brick. I have to wonder, where did the idea for this even come from? It just seems like there are other objects from Marvel and the MCU that would have been more interesting, like Cap's shield.
  8. From what I've seen, it seems like nothing has been hard confirmed yet. There is a lot of speculation (even by some leakers), but at the moment we don't know if anything else is coming. It would make sense if they do another set or two to capitalize on the film's popularity, but they also waited two years to do spoiler sets for Endgame, so we very well may get nothing.
  9. Yeah, that wouldn’t make too much sense, though I think Lego have made stranger decisions in the past.
  10. Watched the new Boba Fett episode, and while I see why some people might think that
  11. The combination function works way better than I was expecting. There are definitely a few minor issues with it but I think it's honestly one of my favorite mechs of the line thus far, beaten only by Zane's mech from last year.
  12. I picked up the Combo mech and really enjoyed it, but if you aren't looking to spend a lot of money then it's not an option. I can't speak to any of the other sets, though I have been thinking about picking up one or two of the other sets later down the line.
  13. I'm also of the opinion that the UCS is a new Death Star, but I think it's going to be updated a bit from the last one. It's purely a hunch, but I think it's been long enough since the original released that a few modernizations could be done. I don't think it would be too different, but my guess is that it'll have maybe one or two new rooms, and a couple of new/different figures. As for the Gonk Droid, I had never even considered it but Lego has done weirder things in the last couple years. I probably wouldn't buy it but I'd be tempted just because it's funny.
  14. My guess is the latter, since they haven't included multiple variations of all the ninja in many recent waves. The only time they've done it recently is for Legacy and Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu, but in both cases it was pretty easy to get them all; the original legacy designs had been available for a while before the Tournament designs released, and the alternative versions in SotFS were the same other than the head-wraps.
  15. Honestly I think there's a decent chance we get them in the next one since Lego is starting to run out of minor characters from OT and Nien Numb is a somewhat notable missing character. I know they love throwing in the main characters whenever they get the chance, but the main gang could still be included if they really want.
  16. I hadn't even thought of that, but I completely agree. I can kind of see why people dislike when molds are reused, but if it makes sense then I don't have a problem with it, and the ice samurai armor is one of my favorite villain molds in all of Ninjago. Getting those with new translucent colors would be very exciting.
  17. It's hard to say a lot based on the descriptions alone but I like how they're bringing back some old villains. One somewhat minor complaint I have is that I don't like how some of the ninjas are harder to get in this wave. Assuming the person who saw the sets didn't miss any of the ninjas, then Lloyd and Nya both only come in much more expensive sets, with Nya being exclusive to the mech. The last few waves had been good about making it easy to get any of the ninjas for cheap, so that I a bit disappointing. Obviously it's not really an issue for anyone who has their own income, but I remember it being annoying to get the ninjas when I was younger and didn't know about Bricklink.
  18. Even if we were to get a prequel D2C this year (or anytime soon for that matter), I would be shocked if it was actually $530. Assuming the D2C really is $530, which I see no reason not to, then the only options that really seem feasible to me would be a new Death Star or maybe Endor, but even Endor is probably not popular enough for a $400+ set to make sense. That is of course just based on what I've personally seen, maybe the Endor stuff is a lot more popular than I suspect, but my guess is if it's $530 it's got to be something even a casual Star Wars fan would think looked interesting.
  19. I have to say I really wish Nezha's Fire Ring didn't include the side builds. I think the main build is really interesting but I don't really care much for the other parts, and I don't think I can justify spending the retail price for just the ring. Maybe I'll see if I can just buy the ring on its own for a reasonable price.
  20. I ended up picking up the Ninja Ultra Combo Mech, and I have to say that I rather like it. There are certainly some compromises that were necessitated by the fact that it is made up of four separate vehicles, such as the exposed technic pinholes on the arms, as well as the fact that the pilot of Jay's vehicle ends up in a weird position, but overall I don't think those are huge issues. It does also suffer from some of the more common Lego mech problems like not having a ton of articulation, but aside from the unfortunate lack of bendable knees, I think the articulation is passable. What I really like about the mech (aside from the obvious references to Gurren Lagann) is that even though the mech is made from four separate parts, it feels fairly cohesive. The colors don't clash like I thought they might, and the mech just looks plain cool. One other thing I wasn't expecting was that the individual parts actually look quite good. While I prefer the combined mech, I think the vehicles look a bit more complete, since they don't have as many obvious areas where it's apparent that they are intended to be part of a larger whole. The only other comment I have is that the snake vehicle or mech or whatever feels a bit tacked on. I'd have preferred if they'd just cut that completely and lowered the price a little, but it's also not offensively bad, so I can't say I'm too bothered by it. If you enjoy Lego mechs then I absolutely recommend this set; there really isn't anything else like it other than perhaps Voltron, which while fantastic in its own right, is a different beast entirely.
  21. Exactly, at this point Ninjago is going to be around until it stops selling well, and from what I can tell it seems to still be pretty popular for now. Even if some parts of the series get dropped (such as the show), at the very least the sets will probably continue being made for the foreseeable future.
  22. Now that you say that I can't help but think that that's probably what'll end up happening. That way it still kind of works as an MCU set, but Lego can just throw in the most popular Avengers characters instead of having to resort to some of the more obscure choices that would probably end up getting picked for a strictly MCU tower. Personally I'm hoping it's MCU but I also probably won't get it either way, so I guess it doesn't really matter. That being said, I don't think we should take the mechs as a sure sign of what characters are coming in the tower since there could always be something else for them to show up in.
  23. That's crazy good, it actually kind of makes me want to buy that set just so I can replicate your mech.
  24. I like that idea a lot, it'd be a nice way to get some of the main characters for cheap if you happen to be missing them still. And more broadly speaking this theme could certainly do with a more inexpensive set options, so something like the Epic Battles (or really any of Ninjago's past $10 impulse-buy/gimmick series) would be nice to see.
  25. I like the sound of a lot of the larger sets, especially the dragon and Samurai X mech since we typcially don't get those kinds of sets at the scale implied by their prices. I guess it's possible that there'll be a lot of side-builds though, hopefully we get a little more info soon.
