Yes, one should not be blinded by the partscount (and just why is that on US boxes - what's the point?), but actually look at the inventory. technicmad-ninja could probably do a similar chart with gears and that would maybe be more interesting. Or with motors. Or with bricks We all look for different parts. Some need LAs (<-- not allanp), some look for wheels, some look for orange beams and others get their kick out of soft axles Theo, let us just dub him Crazy Jim Edit: DrJB - what's up with the formatting?

The danish LUG only allows you to post/use your real name (all forums should be like this, imho that is). Not much drama there

I understand. What you do works for this forum But thank you anyway for making this post, Hinckley - makes everything a bit clearer Edit : Also thanks to the Fabuland copper

What is your least favorite LEGO set?
1974 replied to CardinalBricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
6211 - This is primarely a playset. Impossible to play with without breaking apart I can imagine lots of children getting this a biggest present for christmas etc and experince much crying. Shoddy desgin, good thing I got this for 50euro 42009 - 137 gears, ultra complicated gearbox and underpowered motor. Should have used 50 gears and 2 XL + M. Shoddy design as well. Paid retail - 40% 8070 - Ok, I get it. Make something worse than 8880, succeded! Got three though at -50% retail (good parts package anyway) 7937, yeah, let's buils somekinda station to shut up those annoying AFOLs .. still bought five cheaply So, who is the fool? -
It's not only how one behaves in the forums, abuse of the pm system is also (rightly) not tolerated - which is something we peasants won't see. Not saying it's the cause here though Anyway, David is easy to find, just google dluders I've been using, moderating and owning forums since the mid 90's. I'm currently active in a quite a lot of non LEGO ones. They are all different regarding this banning issue Some have the policy that talks about banning is a nono, some spell it out (the banning reason) and some don't mind a thread about why is X is missing. EB has it's own firm policy of this issue and that's entirely up to them. If they do not want the speculation here, it's fine. It can lead to some nasty threads as I've observed many times. I have also observed that talking about why X is banned can be handled in a civilzed maner with good input from members Talk _will_ happen however, either through the pm system and/or email - or 'worse' on other forums. Last two options is out of EB's control I see EB has the 'taking a break' tag that suspends the user for a given period. Maybe that should be used more than outright banning? Just a suggestion Cheers, Ole

RPM is not important, torque is. You do _not_ want your fingers between an XL and some gears

That's a wee bit too detailed. I could go with "NEW", "AS NEW" (<- which may actually be new but when you stick two bricks togeter it's per BL definition _not_ new), "USED" and "HEAVILY USED" .. anything much more than this will probably just lead to confusion and disagreement

I only buy from sellers who give me confidence, that is great feedback and/or information on their splashpage about the condition of the bricks. So far I've bought manily used bricks ('bout 50.000) and I've yet to be let down So this system works for me Report them, feedback is very important. And you can always file a PayPal claim The only way to improve it would be to ask the sellers to take a picture of each and every piece for sale. Not happening (allthough a lot of sellers actually do take pictures of the _sets_ for sale) Some stores do have their own classification. I quite like Magic Magnus' (and thus have bought from him several times) .. take a look : http://www.magic-magnus.de/p.html

What's wrong with 'new&used'? Parts are either that. Sellers may fvck up, but there's nothing in between TLG's colours are all over the map, impossible for TLG .. and BL to keep track off. Sorry .. I think BL is just about perfect. One mistake many (new) users do is to treat the search engine as some kind of googletastic wonderthing. Don't do that, look into the Catalog and you'll find everything there in it's right place I agree that a more specified feedback system would be good, like ebay A MOC section would be for the very large community, not for the sellers as such. Remember, BL is _old_ many AFOLs hang around at that place, so a MOC section would be quite natural. It's not just a place to buy parts, it is a community. And yes, that would be a competitor to EB

Lego instructions
1974 replied to bultech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You cannot build LEGO instructions, but if you're looking for instructions to build LEGO, I suggest looking at LEGO.com, peeron.com and letsbuilditagain.com -
Ungeared motors need a lot of extra space. It's not possible to design a planetry gear like that with original LEGO parts that don't need as much space as the actual motor. Don't sweat about the internal gears, just think of the XL motor as a motor with low RPM/high torque The motors TLG uses are NOT available with low torque/high RPM, it's allways the opposite

Well, to ad fire to burning rumour, I'd like to ad that I have a few friends within TLG. In 2012 I got the message; " no trains", in 2013 ; "maybe, but not what you'd expect", 2014 ; "we don't know!" So, I don't know .. but it's not same as "no"
