Yes, useless as the mechanism is not visible But I can tell ya all right now : NO LAZORS! Which I means that I'm definitely not gonna buy them Ohh, I don't think there's suspension on the truck either

LEGO M Motor
1974 replied to TimeLapseSwag's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Motors seem to be out of stock all the time at S&H. Just get them through BL -
Some observations now that a friendly soul have send me the pics : Crawler crane is ordinary blue. The claw is manually closed/opened, but anything else would be very hard Truck does not look to have dual rearwheels. Too bad the final stage of the outriggers are manual. Definitely new long pneumatics! And it does look like TLG are calling it "V2.0" (which would be wrong) The pneumatic actuators are pictured on the box, 2 long, 1 medium, 1 small. But the small one looks like it's rod has the same diameter as the others? Certainly looks metallic and the whole part looks to be 2 studs in diameter, not one. If so, that must be new and perhaps all of them are? That could indeed mean they've been completely redone and seals might have been improved Hmm, even the medium one looks longer than the standard 48mm and the small one looks like it's 48mm There's some text below each part, looks like "small pump", "medium pump" and ?? Does TLG call them "pumps" on their sparepart site? Last part of the crane arm looks new? New panel? Cheers, Ole

Blakbird, it's just british sarcasm (all of it) from the old world. You forgot to import that when you nicked the language Not my idea : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=28959entry509730

Hose clamp : To control the airflow, I use the threaded axle with a steering wheel on top. That pushes down a 2x4 plate with holes and threaded nut on top to squeeze the tubing. Works nicely and looks authentic

1 : IF there are new pneumatic cylinders, it'll be V3.0 2 : Probably not, the pressure is high enough for what TLG wants to do with them 3 : Don't think so, I think pneumatic parts/molds are expensive enough and are only used in very few sets 4 : That would not be expensive. I allways use two, to balance the rotating mechanism and supply more air

You can find the info at Bricklink .. I'm using a tablet and I'm not smart enough to post a link

Want to make non-LEGO LEDs
1974 replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
ALL LEDS needs resistors to limit the current consumption. Yes, you can just slap a white LED on a CR2032 but it will not last forever and if you have more than one LED. chances are they'll emit different amounts of light I'd not recommend SMD LEDs (0805 etc) unless you need exactly that small size. They're hard to to solder on, especially if you don't have much/any experience 3/5mm types are much easier to work with and 5mm fits in most LEGO holes/beams etc That article about picking the right resistor is not good You do not want - or need - to run the LED at the edge. You'll shorten the life heat could be a problem, not to mention power consumption Most LEDs are 20mA types, they'll work perfect with 10mA (0,01A) Basic formula : (LED Voltage - battery Voltage) / LED Current = R .... (3-9) / 0.01A = 600R .. 620R is standard and just fine I allways use one resistor for each LED Cheers, Ole -
If you have that 9V batterybox, you just need a simple and cheap 9V cable to test that motor. You'll need that cable anyway to MOC something out of those parts All 9V lamps are, oddly enough, rated at 9V input

Don't own it, but who in their right mind would pay 1500$ for something as boring as that? Or is that figure just pulled out from a certain part of the body? (The $, not C-3PO - haha) ETA : I see it's you site? Where does these oddly round numbers come from? ('Cept the outer space ones, 220000000 and one, not two or zero $?) Btw, I have these for sale. Unique, only one of each exists and I only want a cool billion$. What do I win? Cheers, Ole

Hmm, that should be Pneumatics v3.0, not v2.0. Long pneumatic actuators are old hat anyway

Bricks cracking... just from being connected to one another?
1974 replied to Endgame's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same story here, several hundred k's of new bricks, no cracks. It's REALLY strange how this is effecting people. It just seem so damn random and yet it's often not a single brick in a set, but many It's must be a nightmare for TLG -
Too bad it never went into production

Technic guys into trains
1974 replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think I've seen a Technic train here somewhere? TLG could do a nice working version of this : -
We care about resolution. If it was high enough we'd not be arguing over details we can't properly make out Yes, I've seen retailer catalogs and I even have a few old ones No, they're not all crappy in retailer catalogues. If they we're of such bad quality there'd be no point of the catalogues at all, would there? Simple as that
-
Also, there's simply NO way those pics aren't intentionally leaked by TLG. They're allways lowres, small size. It actually takes effort to get a picture quality like that these days through photoshop. Even the cheapest current digital camera/phone would provide a much better resolution I mean, "the spy" is not using this : Processing it through this : And finally emails them out to a select few who are told 'not' to distribute it : This all just seem to a simple marketing strategy from TLG

Weird A model to B model
1974 replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That was a common theme in the old sets. There would usually be some nice A/B/C/D etc models with one of them being a contraption like that or simply a display of an engineering principle Scissor lift : Overhaed gantry crane : Cheers, Ole -

Yeah, I'm into trains! There's so many interesting ways to do it, so many different powerschemes that one can mixup -
