  1. It's the tire that's 49,6mm There's a large thread somewhere in this forum about 3rd party tires
  2. I like it .. that is, I like the electronics. I yank it out and use it to power my 12V motors with rods (like the 7727) on my 9V metalrails (Also works splendid with my monorails) Nice way to have more than one train on the 9V metaltracks and makes it possible to avoid that steaming pile of shite that PF is ... PF remote doesn't even go "toot toot!" .. and it's poorer in IR range to boot Batterylife is dependent on the actual batteris and the power consumption of the motors (which is equal) PF takes AAA = 800-1000mAH, old RC takes AA = 2500-3000mAH = 2-3 times the running for the old RC Cheers, Ole Nope, the old RC is classic 9V (cables, light, battery boxes etc), new motors are pure PF. OYu can use adapter cables but that would be futile
  3. Yup, many more beancounters than designers. It's also interesting that the colour largest variety of Technic parts was in the pre coloured plastic period. I'm not sure if it's a dye (economical) issue today or simply storage/logistics, but it must mean that Technic simply does not sell enough to warrent the re-introduction of that red #3 Fascinating problems you modern folks have. Here everything is (old) light grey, just as it should be
  4. I tried that sometime ago, but they don't fit as far as I remember. I'm not near my Lunchie right now so I can't check for sure Edit : Measurements of the 6595/22253/23243 (I do believe they're identical) : The smaller outer rim : 29,8mm The larger outer rim on the other side : 30,9mm The inner rim : 26,6mm The groove that the tyre sits in : 31,8mm (or maybe a couple of tenths less, it's hard to measure) Cheers, Ole
  5. While it's a nice setup (that I like to use a lot), I don't think you can scale this down with steering and a dif that the op is looking for
  6. Of course it would be expensive if one had to make that, but so would a simple liftarm or pin. Apples'n'oranges and that jazz Fact is, it's a cheap motor (in any of the motors TLG ever released) and a bit of gearing does not cost a lot in the quantities we're talking about here .. 100.000 to millions So, yeah, they're expensive
  7. NO NEW ELECTRICAL SYSTEM! Is that loud enough? I'm allowed to share that info
  8. Actually, they're extremely expensive compared to the performance that even cheap RC motors can put out, you know that Sure some include gearing but it's still very cheap plastic parts. And in the volumes TLG buyes/produces these they cost very few cents Of course we'll never see a lowly Mabuchi/Johnson 540 in a TLG plasticshell as it would completely rip every other LEGO part to pieces (and would be priced at +50EUR even if you can pick them up for less than a buck) I say forget about more powerfull motors, TLG better make their electronics much smarter, that's we're the customers/money is
  9. LEGO is not the hobby you're looking for then
  10. These have widely been available in LUGBULKs a few years back. I got +50 for my Blacktron layout :) But if this means that blue+green are out, TLg are really loosing it These vacuumformed parts can't be all that expensive to make, they could push out any colour in any size (I believe they're cut after molding so it doesn't matter if they're 32x32 or 48x48 or ?x?) and make a bundle .. I guess logistics, which rule _anything_ TLG does had the last word Cheers, Ole
  11. Similar, or is it more a balancing machine?
  12. Has anyone claimed that? I like all these random threads that the OP comes up with, but that was just lazy, imho Cheers, Ole
  13. I don't get it? You've obviously been giving this subject some serious thought, but you couldn't be bothered to look it up on Bricklink to varify? That would take less than 10 seconds, probably faster than actually typing the OP? Technic _bricks_ are not often used in Technic sets as it's all about studless and have been for what +15 years? I'm quite sure you are aware of that They are however, commonly used in many other themes like City, Creator, Chima/Ninjago, SW etc Yes, LEGO is not just Technic. Crazy, I know So more research, less typing my friend
  14. Actually 12V is the best, it's like 3 volts better
  15. The post is easy enough to understand .. the picture of that brick has nothing to with the words weavil was only providing a picture of that brick Mikuri mentioned and then gave his reasons for why TLG makes unique parts not (often) seen again I do not agree though, TLG does indeed make new molds that can seem rather pointless from time to time. Take that part Jeroen mentioned, nice as it is, it's no way essentiel to the two sets that first used it. It did have it's uses later on, I think The gigantic bed from the 7344 was only used once almost ten years ago. That mold must have cost a bit of money, but maybe TLG sold +1 million of those That set would have been much better if it was made from individual parts
  16. I have several of those 32251s in other colours than black and dbg (old light grey for instance) and they we're produced around 2000 so I guess TLG did have other plans/sets that never came into production The 'order' to use in the PP seems a bit forced as it's not really doing anything special, nor in it's 'debut' model, the 8279 Imho, that is
  17. Join a LUG and you can get them _much_cheaper than the going BL price
  18. And ... The George Lucas Special Edition!
  19. Look at the radardish Good for those who bricklinks a UCS
  20. There are more colours than he's displaying, just sayin'
  21. 'Cept it was posted in this very thread, post #3, quoted by you in post #6 TLG's official names don't really make a lot of sense, but I guess they've been revised over the years Can't really think those conservative folks in Billund would be calling red, yellow, blue, white, black, green and grey other than .. well that back in the sixties? Cheers, Ole
  22. Missread you, sorry! Yeah, won't do that then Delicate thingies they are : http://mindstorms.itgo.com/micro.htm Cheers, Ole
  23. I have a Grasshopper (and many other Tamiya RCs) and it does most definitely not have awesome performance, in fact it's probably one of the worst Tamiyas. Sure is a lot of fun to drive though I do understand what a V8 is, do you know what a Fiat 500 is? What this has to with Monster Trucks, beats me If you want to learn about 'large size' motors you should have picked another medium than LEGO, proper RC would be my choice
