  1. Was discontinued about 10 years ago. The AFOL world exploded back then, plenty of info at LUGnet etc .. Edit : Here's a good read .. http://news.lugnet.com/general/?n=47149&t=i&v=a The OP is an official statement from TLG, the rest are AFOLs going
  2. No answer to the colour choices they made?
  3. You're right. For some reason I had it my mind that TLG had started to sell them assembled
  4. Lucky you Both sets where US exclusives (which was a real shame as I would really have liked that as a kid, along with a string of other US-only releases (6391 is my favourtie))
  5. I do not think your local LUG would have ordered the train wheels without axles, it makes no sense. Neither does it make sense that TLG will sell them without This is probably the part that's been ordered : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=2878c02 And that is complete
  6. Yeah, we just talked about it in the train section http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=812 The set you're thinking of is this : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=6383-1 Train (straight) tracks are allways 16L
  7. Yeah, but as TLG like to tell us; kids > AFOLs No blue baseplates = fail
  8. Yeah, the 4515 slope was invented for exactly that purpose. I much prefer this way also, but the OP asked if there was a special tile for that and indeed TLG made one eons ago Now let's debate, what crossing gate is the best? The classic 4512pb01 + counterweight : Or something discretely build :
  9. As a kid of the 80's I had a decent 12V collection. I don't think I ever MOC'ed a train without doors, they we're essential. Of course all my trains when either yellow(/red), black or red/blue I remember lusting for the oh so sleek and futuristic 7745. I seriously doubt that modern nosejob could have invoked the same feeling
  10. My son totally loves the Technic DACTA sets. Those books show all kinds of simple machines and he picks the engineering principles up real fast :) He can build just about any set now and he's not even six. Pretty good That part you've mentioned only works in one direction which can frustrate kids. How old is he?
  11. If I ran TLG, I'd junk that crap diy-injection molding in a heartbeat, deeply apologize for that AND the grey madness, dig up those damn monorailmolds from the parking lot and then kick back and let jonwill run the show while I get loaded on beer and babes I'm a simple man really
  12. We approve
  13. Yup, and now they're working on highly sofisticated machinery that gonna half the productioncosts, but still same ol' (new, that is) crappy dye-injected plastic. Sets will probably not get cheaper though
  14. I do? It's taxing time, baby! Speaking of Sealand, this is also a rather funny place : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Sealand Ok, back on track!
  15. It worked, it pissed me off! Wonder if that's what tLG was thinking?
  16. 60051 = 7897 = Playmobil, err, I mean DUPLO! Yeah that's it Good thing for TLG that they don't do B/C/D models anymore .. (I actually have two 7897 fronts that my son found one day : what's this dad? what is it doing in the train (spare) box??" <-- I dunno my son, I really dunno)
  17. We've been over this 'Classic' business before, which I think is complete bull, but I seem to be in the minority here There's nothing remotly classic about a part that's never been released before, but hey, I'm just a stubborn ol' fart, what do I know?
  18. Yes Antoine, there was 16x32 brigt green baseplates in several sets starting from '98. No 32x32 as far as I know .. There was a 'medium greene' 32x32 in set 6418, maybe you have that one? And yes, I also have 32x32 green/blue baseplates that are all over the map colourwise, but they're still "green/blue" Cheers, Ole
  19. That's what you get for letting them vikings in! Serve's you right, my vassal Cheers, Ole
  20. That sounds pretty good then, maybe you could submit those figures to Brickset?
  21. It's certainly not, I can assure you of that my friend You'll be surprised of what is to come, allthough it is a little late in the game
  22. Old green baseplates where in fact green, new ones are bright green. Blue has been discontinued. Tan, or 'cool yellow' is new I'd like an ounce of that stuff they're smoking in Billund please
  23. I'm in Denmark, there are heavy taxes even on the air I breathe I haven't been able to find retail prices on the train superpacks, but I really doubt it's 10EUR above the actual train in retail Thanx for the info on the boxes
  24. That is the future of LEGO, sorry Please send these pics to LEGO CS and a copy of what you have written above
  25. Yeah, but hobbits and vikings do look alike Regarding 'superpacks', they seem to be more expensive than buying individual sets at least here in NZ DK. I reckon the sturdier box (are there actually individual boxes inside?) is also heavier than than the thinner individuals, leading to higher shipping cost from places like BL
