I'm sure the OP meant what part is useless to YOU not the general public. If you a had a few hundreds of the part in the OP you could probably build a shack in some 3rd world country and you'd be quite happy But I would just throw it out as I've done with a bunch of these : Cheers, Ole

I spend quite a bit of time on LUGnet reading as there area lot of gold in those old posts But then again, I dod not rally care much about moderne LEGO I do not see many of those prolific posters still about though, but it's hard to tell with all these fancy monikers You could ask the same question at Bricklink as I know we have some oldies goldies there This is my favourite site with 'old' MOCs : http://www.davidglennsimmons.com/archive/index.html I've talked a bit with the creator (David Simmons) as I'd be most unhappy if he deleted it. He won't but he's totally done with LEGO Cheers, Ole

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
1974 replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Nope, and if I did I wouldn't do it without telling you, would I? Besides, I given it all to my son and pretty much of of it is in use (yes, shockingly enough the odd parts are not in glass cages guarded with lasers. And sharks. And sharks WITH lasers!) I'm trying to take some better pics though Nothing wrong with them, but TLG just never found use for them. I do wonder if something like the double version of this : Pretty sure that would have found it's way into hundreds of sets if it was a regular part. Very usefull I think -
Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
1974 replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hi guys! It's been a while and I'm really sorry that I've messed up the pics/links, but they should be good AND permanent now Anyway, they're all here : blacktronite.com Now, let's see if I cannot find some more funny parts we can talk about ... That chain is now an official part : Cheers, Ole -
"2006 was the most profitable year for BIONICLE"
1974 replied to TwistLaw's topic in LEGO Action Figures
You might want to look at SW numbers then SW as in Star Wars movies. TPM sold more tickets than any of the first three films But I'm sure GL was expecting that .. -
Options : 1 - Wait for the part to be relased in the colour you want. Might never happen though 2 - Get TLG to make the part for you. Yes, that actually is doable, but if you need to ask how much you don't have the funds anyway 3 - 3D = Will look very bad 4 - Custom mould. Doable, but see the last sentence of point 2 5 - Paint it. Easy, cheap and will look pretty good 6 - Accept the limitations of LEGO Cheers, Ole

Yeah, but a chassis rail in a real truck is not a complex moulded part. It's a rather standard peice of steel with lotsa holes, attachement points and welded sub parts. So no, that comparison does not work Following your idea, the entire chassis of a LEGO truck should then be one fat complex moulded part. That would indeed create the missing strengh that studless have. Of course beams'n'plates did that all the way back in '77 with no problem I'm sure there will be good uses for that part but I'm also equally sure TLG could have come up with a nicer, discrete, solution for that task. And that would have been more fun to build also But maybe they actually tried playing with the latest mobile crane, as that is made of suck, and got tired of all the noise from CS Hence Technic Jr.

That piece looks right proper for a Bionicle killer robot, nothing else. TLG could have done that discretly, but nahh, lets get the folks all worked up on the interwebs instead The REAL question is, why do folks take the time to build this very fine truck instead of parting out the parts so I can my long pneumatic cylinders at BL? I'm waiting with a full Paypal account, Gents Cheers, Ole

Forget about LEGO Ideas, it's a xxxx scheme and not something that TLG actually spends a lot of time on. Nothing will come out out of that (unless you're a fan of _whatever cartoon_) regarding trains Proper LEGO trains takes a long time to develop and we will surely get what we have gotten in the last few years, at least since RC made it's debut (No, I don't mean 7898/7897), so look out for the annual Creator train and the 2-3 regular trains + and maybe some buildings, if you're lucky every couple of years - But no regular integrated train theme like in the old days - 80'-''87 That's all I know for sure ;) Cheers, Ole
-
As I brought you the 100% proof of the 2014 trains (look it up, it was solid) and I can with 100% certainty tell you that I know diddly about 2015 trains Very sorry :( Cheers, Ole
-
What exactly is the point of showing off? That you got loads of money? Some of us have 50-100 times that and we don't go around tootin' our horn, you know And why do you want that 9V trainshed for your too wide plastic trains anyway? It's much better as an investment. A decent and bigger shed can be made for much less How about MOC'ing something cool instead of flashing, eh? And please drop that pre-teen "u" while you're at it Welcome to trains! Cheers, Ole

Easy to add suspension to the rear and if you have other XXX sets I'm sure you've seen the bodywork also You could also add valves like on the 858. Maybe even double it up to make a V8!
-
Haha, nice term! Yeah, I'm a play with'er too. Can't stand the glass cabinet types. Of course you're right in expecting a 'complete 853' to actually be, you know complete. But ebay is really not the place for such purchases. It's just a gigantic carboot sale, imho I hope you get your parts for the 853, it's quite a lovely machine Cheers, Ole
-
MISB means exactly that. Does not mean the box is, only the content
-
Or tl; dr : You wanted a mint 853, you bought a 'whatever' 853 of ebay = Grosse Kind failed There's not even a MISB 853 at BL at the moment, but there is a 'correct era' for 170USD Sets with correct era parts are just about impossible to get unless you buy MISB. Be prepared to fork out 3-4-5-6-800USD Or do it yourself. A 853 can be done for less than 50USD _if_ you have the patience and use all sources available. I've done that plenty of times ;) Cheers, Ole Forget ebay, that is crapstastic place to buy from. Seller needs to pay loads of fees = no good deal for you. Too good deal? = scam Buy it of BL WITH paypal : The run from 175EUR and up And my tip of the day, try contacting a danish seller and ask if he would be willing to cut you a deal as they we're widely available at half retail price (yeah, I bought loads, none left sorry) Cheers, Ole

That is to NOT buy sets with string? Andy, you suck, there's too many sets with strings to avoid, and you know it :) (Laughing, are we?)
-
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? How would make a crawler crane without string, then? With chains?

That is bull and NOT good for the enviroment, shame one you TLG PF works just fine on 7.2V. What is the voltage of the rechargeable batterybox again? Problem is that not all batteries (yes, they're cells LT - but that is confusing people) conform to the AAA standard and TLG made the batteryboxes the way they did It's not proper testing before product launch, something TLG normally is very good at but seems to cock up often when it comes to electrical parts ETA : There are pdf's with dimensinal drawings at the bottom of this wiki page : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AAA_battery I have loads of different AAAs (mainly NiMH) and they all worked when I used PF. I have some none rechargeable 9Vs that fits very badly inside the old 9V baettryboxes, so it's not a new problem
