  1. TLG can make anything they want, but they won't make the monorail parts again simply because they do not think it's profitable
  2. They are cheap, they work and they come in 32x32 and bigger. And a lot of layouts depend on them The new system with twice the height is not cool. You may ask all those Modular collectors if they think they're cool as well Anyway, I don't use them and have sold all, I much prefer regular plates. But I still think TLG should keep them
  3. The SW universe have a tendency to make up VERY silly names for characters, so this is not out of the question
  4. Green is rather old, you have to be a living fossil if that's "new" to you. The first regular brown brick was the "horse stomach" in 6066 in 1988 (the 1987 US release is rather odd), green have been around for much longer. Dark grey is also a weird colour for me, I only had one plate from the train tracks back in the 80's
  5. Yes, all had open towers etc, I think the only one would be 6077 (but is that really a castle?), but not all castles were hinged like 375, 6080 etc I'm an old fart. I marvel over all the brown bricks I have now (not sure what to do with them though). Black would have been better, imho
  6. You have never build the Taj Mahal or the Robie House then? Baseplates do not bend at all with bricks and plates above. The Colloseum is not just slabbed on those new frame plates either
  7. TLG should have used black for the roofs AND the timber work. That would have been both historically correct and have matched the 6074. However, TLG seem to be in love wiht chocolate brown and sure, it pops out more, but I'm not liking it
  8. I know there's a character called Pre Viszla, please don't tell there also one called Post Viszla?
  9. Well, TLG have learned their lesson not to release blurry pics in advance
  10. Agree, but it also depends on your age. Most of what's on that list do not fall into the nostalgia category for me either
  11. The Colloseum could easily have been made on regular baseplates. Layer bricks and plates on top and it's good to go. Just like the Sydney Opera. Train builders, who makes huge layouts, have been doing this for decades. That's also the folks that's been first adopters of non-LEGO parts (tracks and wheels) and they'll most likely just use off-brand baseplates in the future Vacuum formed baseplates are actually rather cheap to make, compared to injection moulded parts, so I'm sure there will be a market for non-LEGO baseplates in the future
  12. Yeah, like I said "loss leader" ... I know a few independant LEGO sellers, it's a VERY tough business. Only one supplier. Not something I'd ever go into myself TLG makes the big bucks, not the others in the chain
  13. Yes you can. Castles on raised baseplates Actually the King had "The Gentleman of the Privy Chamber" aka the Royal big behind Wiper
  14. Ok. But you buy other things, right? If someone offers you a car, a pint of milk, a whatever for a tenth of the going rate, do you stop and go "nah, this is a scam, I'm gonna pass". Or do wire the money and wait for the cheap car or the milkman to knock on your door? If you do, you're an idiot. Simple as that There are certainly LEGO bargains to be found, sometimes even rather amazing ones. I can tell a few stories of my own good luck, however there are NEVER EVER legit retailers seling sets like that for a tenth of the going rate. There's actually isn't a lot of money to made on LEGO. Even the big retail chains do not get a big enough discount to offer a set like that for that kinda money. Sure, you do see (smaller) sets going for very little money (mostly a US thing), but that's called a "loss leader" eBay isn't really a good place to buy, you might get knock-offs or just not what you ordered at all. Better go to Bricklink, imho Cheers, Ole
  15. Just switch to the generic smiley face like me and it's your imagination that decides the gender
  16. I'm all for TLG being all inclusive. They have to now they painted themselves up in a corner with the diversity of minifig heads (and bodies) But timetraveling female pirates doning knights outfits are perhaps a tad unrealistic Again, that would be very easy and cheap to swap out. same thing with the walls. If you want white walls and black roofs, that shouldn't set you back more than ten bucks. And most likely, being standard parts, you probably have the parts allready This is exactly why Creator sets do not use specialized parts
  17. To be blunt, you have to be an idiot if you think you can a brand new current original LEGO set for a tenth of the price
  18. There have been Technic parts in other themes (CC and CS) since 1977, that's not something new In the first decades merely for functions, wheels and looks. But in the last 10-15 years it's been used a lot for strengthening in themes like SW and various action sets like Ninjago and Chima
  19. Yeah, that's a feature TLG haven't used much. On top of my head I can only think of a few System boats (even pre minifig using old red bushes)
  20. What kinda mouth diarrhea is that garbage statement? TLG have been making trains since the mid-60s and contnues doing that today. It was the first specialty theme and over the years they have made many many parts that only works for trains. Also, I REALLY hate that word "influencer"!
  21. Yeah, odd choice. Especially since there is a knights helmet and armor in the set. Just add another BF (or the re-issue LK) and be done with it A brickbuild horse would be a nice nod to 375 I'd rather have that instead of that silly dragon
