  1. Oooh, yes! I notice it now! It does look like quite a substantial castle though. Perhaps Lego might do a 3-in-1 Black Tower?
  2. Given that the Krakens have gaiters that don't seem to go too well with those helmets, is there any other headgear that will be compatible with it? How about placing Palpatine's hood over it?
  3. I do wonder if that lady in the ideas shirt is just a 'generic' figure, or is actually a reference to one designer/ staff at the Ideas team? I take it the guy in red plaid shirt is the designer?
  4. Is the color of the Kraken torso also teal, just like with the spaceman? Looking at the photos more closely, I do think the helmet is reddish brown. It appears the same color and sheen as the whip. The legs look darker because of the shadow. I think dark green legs and pearl dark gray helmets would look good. Keeping the original helmet and legs would perhaps look good with reddish brown arms. But overall, I'm happy with the Kraken fig because it has identity and personality. The Griffin looks generic. It needs some distinctive markings.
  5. Maybe with the popularity of this set, there will be a gumball machine 2.0 next year or the year after. Knowing Lego, they might stuff it at one point with more collectible F1s.
  6. There are several draws for me about the Krakens. First the overall novelty of a (most likely) sea-faring faction that has not existed before. Everyone else was land-based and/ or affiliated with birds. Second is the overall mystery of their lore. Where did they come from? Who are they aligned with? Maybe those Griffin torsos are going to have griffin logos as the back? Not too long ago, there were BAM pieces for Black Falcon knights and they looked generic from the front but had the big logo at the back.
  7. Drawing from previous CMF themes that need to be revisited: 1 and 2: continuing the line of Greek/ Roman minifigs: - Greek mother goddess (Hera) - god of celebration (Dionysius), holding grapes 3) French aristocrat/ French sun king (based on King Louis, partner to the Rococo aristocrat) 4) Siamese classical dancer (to continue the line of ethnic cultures) 5) Bright light blue spaceman 6) Lady wearing a sari (Indian costume) 7) meditating monk (this would fall under the Castles theme) 8) Stegosaurus costume person 9) Brachiosaurus costume person 10) Garlic costume 11) apple pie costume (using the wedge suit used for the pizza, ice cream, etc) 12) scarab beetle costume
  8. Great idea - dark green legs would I think look good! I feel the shape of the helmet is the issue. They should have used a different one. I think overall, Lego probably did not want to invest in any new mould for this set, but at the same time wanted to put out something unique.
  9. And swapping out is absolutely fine... parts are easier to hunt down these days compared to making that light gray space. All we need is just the printed toro (not even arms), air tanks, and helmet. Please Lego, please! I don't mind the teal because it can be the missing link between the green and the blue. Contrary to popular opinion, I liked the lime green a lot. although people call it bile green. I agree that the spacemen taking up 4 slots can be monotonous but the classic space fans out there, like me, are celebrating. What they could have done is just include one of each. The third would have been a runner up color. The fourth could have been a space theme not re-made recently. But Lego being Lego, they go the lazy way.
  10. As much as we all think that the set is garbage, I think it will sell... just because of the pigeons!!!
  11. I liked the idea of the gold classic space but I did not vote for it. As much as I think it looks good, overall it did not feel "unique" because of the fact that gold minifig parts are quite common. I really liked many of the other colors that did not win. I feel that with a set like this, Lego could have just featured more than just the two colors that won the vote. Also, we are still missing a bright light blue space to complete the Every Classic Space is Awesome lineup.
  12. I think LKC was a great build but Lego built it only in "one dimension" so to speak. They just wanted a castle built with modern pieces but evoked the classic Castles theme. OTOH, MF was built with much artistic freedom. I think setting the castle in a snowy environment is one dimension or layer of change that Lego would not have entertained. Moving forward, I do hope future castles will incorporate more of this artistic freedom, especially now that we have new factions, with some of them being somewhat unconventional. I linked a reddit post above and you can see that some of those BDP8 submissions had color themes or settings that weren't quite there in previous classic sets of the Castles theme.
  13. Oooh, I love these fancy names! I wonder which other pieces work? If I'm not mistaken, that helmet debuted in a Viking CMF that was designed to have a beard.
  14. If there is a separate Castle line in BDP, then it would not eat up a spot on the final five. At the same time, Castle fans would be happy to get more of what they want. Castle could mostly eat up the top spots in the vote. Would BL allow it in the final roster? Most likely not. But then you disenfranchise the same people who enthusiastically voted. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I don't know what other solution there is. Just send the rest of the popular castle MOCs as instructions to Rebrickable?
  15. If I'm not mistaken, voting for BDP8 closed several days ago already? Was voting still open when the Horse and Snake knights were revealed? Since Kraken and Griffins just recently leaked, just imagine how it could have influenced the vote!!! I like both the Griffins and Kraken. Initially, the Griffins are easier to like at first glance because they look typical castle. But I am really liking the Krakens more and more because of the lore potential and the uniqueness of their premise.
  16. Found it!!! Here: ^^^ Bummer that not all, or none, of the above might make it to a real set... I doubt BDP will allow all those castles to win the vote. Also, wanted to point out some standout MOCs for faction HQs on RB: Apparently Lord Crow (CMF Tournament Knight) lives in his own castle: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-216341/Legat_Of_Legion/crow-lords-castle/#details And the Wolfpacks live in Howling Rock: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-219367/RolandoRod/howling-rock/#details
  17. I like both the Krakens and Griffins. But I think the combo of that helmet plus the bandana mask/ gaiter looks a bit 'different'. If you look at the Krakens without those two (helmet + gaiter) combined, I think the printing is absolutely awesome! And also, can you just imagine the lore that will follow suit from these minifigs? It is the missing link between the Vikings and Castle... just like how Rollo went to the land that is now France, switched religions and became a king! (Sorry, I watched too much Vikings on streaming. ) Just a few days ago, I saw some blogs and reddit posts about people collating existing Rebrickable and BDP MOCs that are the most appropriate headquarters for some of the more common factions. OMG, Bricklink should dedicate one series to Faction territories or headquarters!!!
  18. Will this voting thread somehow get Lego to make a follow up edition of Crow Lord (Tournament Knight)? (Could anyone think of current BAM/ PAB pieces to 'construct' minions of Crow Lord, and perhaps Bear Knight (Frightening Knight)?)
  19. That City set does look like it was designed by someone from the Multiverse team.
  20. Gumball leaked! It is just generic figures of teal and warm, gold, to each. I am loving the Griffin and Kraken!
  21. Gumball machine leaked! So just two generic spaceman each for teal and warm gold.
  22. You got me really really excited!!! For a moment, I even thought that "one of the azures" could even be the missing bright light blue. But thinking about it more, it could not be...as that was originally planned for the canceled Dreamzzz set so they could not possibly feature it twice in the same year. What could this fourth space fig theme be??? What sub theme have they not yet remade? M:tron, Blacktron, Classic Space, Insectoid from Galaxy Squad, Exploriens, Ice Planet, Spyrius, Unitron, Space Police, Futuron, Alien Conquest, Life on Mars, Mar Mission?
  23. I really like how you captured that shape so well.
  24. The rumor/ leak says that there will be 4 space and 4 castle. What are the odds that, for example, we will get 2 teal and 2 warm gold minifigs? Possible that it is one male and one female each? I guess that makes the most economic sense for Lego. Another possibility is that we just get one of each color and the other two are other classic space theme? Same for castle. I mean the space and castle themes just take up too much real estate in the minifig count. Not that I'm complaining. Of the eight remaining figs, they still have Paradisa, and Fabuland themes. Maybe that's it, and that would give everyone 4 figs each theme. If there are more themes, then it will be what, two each? Then there has to be a fourth theme?
  25. You know, they could have just made all 4 castles factions originally proposed, as well as 4 or 5 of the classic spacemen. I'm taking the rumors with a grain or two of salt... Not too long ago, they announced a new Disney castle with "at least" X amount of minifigs and it came out with exactly X amount! I don't want to get my hopes too high. Although I am already elated at baseline at hearing that there will be 2 new spaceman colors and 2 new castle factions.
