  1. Screen Junkies had a debate on this, albeit one of the suggestions discussed outright ridiculous and useless.
  2. Bossk is definitely an improvement. 4-LOM is a great first iteration!
  3. I'm probably a minority here, but it's the zombie pirate for me!
  4. You mean the polybag has a different cowl mold, or a different head print?
  5. I agree. I remember when I went to look for series 16 right when it was released, the TRU worker that was the asked me if I could find a banana man for her. Later a lady came into the store, saw the box and designs seemingly for the first time, and asked for one as well. By the time we left the store, all 5 banana men from the box were gone, and it was the day they put the box out. So this series could sell like hot cakes, assuming they do choose 16 solid designs. They do run the risk of saturation; usually the costumed figures stand out because they are unique in the series. But I think it has great potential, and I'll most likely than not get them all, since I collect all the costumed figures.
  6. I'm sold!!! I'm also concerned about them doing a little too much of this (just like some people felt like they did way too many monsters), but personally I'm very excited and I feel the series has a great potential! Thanks for the info @rob-ot5000!!!
  7. I disagree. Mostly I prefer the way Brickvault reviews minifigs (a bit more professional). But that's because minifigs are what I care the most about in a set. Actually Brickvault has become my go to place for reviews!
  8. That was also pretty much @SirBlake 's theory, which to my understanding @rob-ot5000 already said we aren't getting. Or am I misunderstanding something? I thought we weren't getting a series of updated retro figs.
  9. Hmmmm. Well, that's an interesting puzzle. I've been pondering and I don't think I've come up with anything that sounds exactly right. These are possibilities I thought of, and some are more far fetched than others: 1. A series celebrating the diversity of Lego's current minifigure lineup. So, we could see a series with about one figure per each current theme, and the figure would be something you wouldn't necessarily find in a set. Sort of like the Target gift cubes but with 16 figs, and with possibly several IPs. This sounds kinda crazy and like something that could have licensing issues. 2. A series celebrating Lego itself. So, there could be a Lego store worker, a Lego fan, someone in a Brick suit... However, it would seem hard for Lego to come up with 16 figures based on this theme. 3. A la Mr. Gold, a series with all chrome figures. Again, it's hard to imagine Lego making 16 of these, but they have been known to celebrate anniversaries with chrome figures before. Feel free to let me know if I'm getting warmer or not.
  10. OK, so from this I gather that somehow it'll be motivated by the 40th anniversary of minifigs, but that it won't be themed around retro figures / best hits. I'll see if I can come up with any good guesses.
  11. Yeah, that's basically the reason I'm unsure about a "retro series".
  12. Perhaps something similar to what they did with the S1 astronaut, which was loosely based on the Classic Space figures. I'd like something like that. But, just off the top of my head, it would seem hard to distinguish such a series from a regular numbered series. I mean, if it's a collection of figures that 1) look modern and 2) are diverse, then how would anyone be able to tell that it is a themed series, even if it's inspired on old designs from across the years? If they do go retro, I hope they give us (if not with this series, in the future) Rocket Racer from Lego racers. I've been wanting that figure for years.
  13. Well, 2018 is the 40th anniversary of the minifigure.
  14. I'll just leave this here for those who don't want to see a video of stills. Linky.
  15. Not sure if this has been brought up before, but The Brick Fan reports that the battle pod will be coming to Legoland California. So it looks like, as expected, it's getting a wider release.
  16. Mr. Gold got a lot of bad publicity. I doubt they're going that route. It just seems like they're trying something new in the way they are promoting the series. Maybe since putting it on the pamphlet, they just decided to run with it and keep it a mystery. Also, 2222nd post.
  17. A bunch of historic figures would be awesome, and I think there's a lot of holes in our historic figure lineup. However, given that Itaria said "it may be considered historic, but in a way nobody expects", that pretty much tells me that it isn't a historic series. Retro figs sounds like a big possibility. Perhaps (and this is the space geek in me) a space-themed series, both with new interpretations of the factions of Lego Space and with figures inspired on movies (such as Robbie the robot)? That is probably wishful thinking on my part, but I'd kill for a space themed series. A general retro series would be more likely than that, I think. I doubt it'll be a costumed figure series, since they seem to use those to boost sales on each regular series. Or maybe Itaria means historic in that it will set a precedent, and CMFs won't ever be the same after that? The curiosity is killing me! I'd recommend you not to check this thread for at least a couple of months, because we'll likely be doing exactly that for a while. Well, 2018 will be the 40th anniversary of the minifigure! So there might be something there...
  18. Or Marvel? If we didn't have solid rumors saying that Disney 2 was cancelled, I'd say we were getting TLBM S2, 18, and Disney 2 all in 2018. But with all of the current information, it's hard to make out what's actually going on for me. I wouldn't think we'd be getting CMFs for DC, Marvel, and Star Wars, because minifigs are selling points for the sets of those themes. But then again, they did it with TLBM, by including minor characters that might be harder to put in sets. I don't see any other franchise (aside from Ninjago) possibly getting the series in 2018, but if indeed Disney 2 isn't happening anymore, and if it's going to be replaced by another licensed series, my best guess would be Star Wars, because it's a Disney IP too, and because it would avoid the problem of giving us 2 superhero CMFs in a single year.
  19. Thanks for the replies, everyone. The last time I saw these I was pretty surprised. It was during July 2016 I believe, when I was looking for Series 16. The worst part is I found a Hot Dog Man at that time, and didn't buy it because I didn't need one! Sadly, that place doesn't have this series anymore. @K_Tiger, unfortunately that one on Bricklink is part of a super lot. Thanks for the offer, though! I'll PM you.
  20. Does anyone have any good tips for hunting for these in Maryland? I know they're mostly long gone, but someone in my family decided recently they wanted a Hot Dog suit guy, and now I'm being given the seemingly impossible task of finding one in the wild. I've checked a couple of Targets to no avail. Is there any place where I can search store inventories specifically for series 13? I don't want to pay those ridiculous prices online...
  21. Exactly. To me, that makes the conflict personal, in a way that we haven't seen since Curse of the Black Pearl.
  22. LOL if he actually is a monochrome black figure with a question mark in its torso .
