Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Wish Punisher was made as he was in Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. He had a stern face, a different hairpiece (although the one he comes with is fine) and hip printing. Always an eye sore when lego prints belt details that belong on the hip, on the torso. It seems Harry Potter is doing fine in terms of figure detail (although inaccuracies and poor part choices have been made) and I’d love to see that type of print quality normalized here. -
You consistently misinterpret the way these conversations are angled and that’s on you man. The topic is where we see the theme going and what we think it would take to bring it back. Not every response was even about the theme being dead. We all have our ideas about what we may see in coming years and the shifting schedule of the Batman movie is what explains this years release schedule but that doesn’t mean the direction this theme has been going in has either been predictable or consistent and its very fair to ask and speculate over what the future holds. From conception to right now Lego DC has been very unique to any lego theme licensed or in house ever imo and that warrants a conversation

I think a good solution to this would be reintroducing bricktober packs. Remember when Wong Bucky Tony and War Machine came in a bricktober pack? Even if Toys R Us is out of the picture lego can create the same marketing strategy with say Target or Walmart and produce packs only available at those stores with 1-2 new figures and 2-3 repeats or new variants of existing characters. Agatha, Zemo, Old man Cap and some Tony variant sounds like a great figure selection. Its a bit unheard of to get more than 1 new figure in these packs and they have an association with Toys R Us but lego would probably profit well if they brought it back and improved the amount of new figs we get. Maybe even including a small build like last years Falcon pack if just selling 4 figures doesn’t seem lucrative to them. I’d love to see it, especially if done with frequency imagine what kinds of concepts we could get small doses of annually. If only -
Is anyone holding out hope for a comic wave next year? I know its unlikely considering this years mostly empty roster of regular retail sets, but I think back to how the 2015 and 2018 comic waves caught me off guard as I was pessimistic in the years preceding that about what this theme was becoming. So I always carry a bit of hope that even in small ways, lego can do things with this theme that can surprise and excite me. But also this year has been so bleak I eve wondered if the theme was going to be canceled. I have hope, but realistically this year alone has stripped me of my ability to judge what a normal year of releases would look like for lego DC. So we will see, but what do you guys expect in the coming years? Do you expect at least a small comics wave here and there? Do you think the current state of affairs (DCCU sets being the main priority of the theme) remaining? Curious to hear what other Lego DC fans speculate, hope for, and rationalize for the future of this theme. Not trying to start an argument or raise conversation similar to what i have in the past. Trying to visualize what others think/hope for/see as a reasonable future for this theme.

Probably referring to me. Yeah Venom wouldn’t be so annoying if it wasn’t for how often we see him in general. Especially considering of the 4 new characters only 1 is a villain its especially annoying seeing of all villains being repeated its the one we get in pretty much every spidey set. But at this point I don’t care anymore. I’m just wondering about the print. If its such an expensive set maybe they’ll step the game up for at least a few figures bc an entire roster of figures missing things like leg prints and arm prints would really let me down. Especially considering Mysterio, Spiderwoman both need it and others such as Spiderman and Black Cat would qualify under certain interpretations. It just comes down to how good Spiderwoman looks for me, I’ll probably buy the set either way but the quality of her print will do a lot for the hype for me. But honestly I resent the current Mysterio figure, he could also have leg and arm print as well and honestly for me the leg print alone would do a lot for the appeal of the figure. -

The more the merrier. I’d love at least 3 generic reporters with maybe another 3 being direct references to specific journalist characters. Mary Jane and Eddie Brock would be nice. As for heroes, I’m open to Elektra, Moon Knight (considering he won’t be in the cmf series) Cloak/Dagger or even Squirrel Girl. As for villains, I’d love for comic versions of Hydro Man and Molten Man. Silver Surfer has a long history in NYC but would make more sense in a comic version of the Sanctum Sanctorum (hope to see it) Also until someone confirms where we heard “no more new villains” from someone credible I will cross my fingers for Hydro Man. Also Black Cat and Punisher I’d say were solid interpretations of the characters even if design choices like the covered chest skin and smirky face felt odd. Hopefully Spiderwoman receives appropriate printing considering her OG release acknowledged the proper shape of her boots and the black red and yellow color scheme she has. If Spiderwoman comes with detailed print I will be at peace with it all but eventually I’d love to see a Mysterio that doesn’t have solid green legs. -

What does TIS stand for? When did we get news of no more new villains? That’s a bummer, I was still hoping for a Shocker. Betty Brant has a pretty stale comic design hearing her being rumored has me wondering if she may appear in an MCU set? Maybe this was hinting at her release in general and not a particular reference to the Daily Bugle. Do we have confirmation of the figure lineup for the new Spiderman sets? I feel she’s make more sense there as her MCU role is bigger and more recognizable than any comic design or story she’s ever had. I know its unlikely but I’d love to see this new Mysterio finally get leg printing and his yellow shoes this time around. Hope Spiderwoman at least has the same amount of print as her original 2013 release (but naturally hoping they include dual molded legs with the leg printing this time). EDIT: would also love to see side leg printing this time around but apparently shouldn’t have standards for these things. So we have at least 3 missing figures. My money’s on a few reporters and maybe even a security guard. I think we’ve heard the end of our named characters. Maybe Mary Jane is included but I reckon the last few figs are civilians considering we aren’t getting new villains (but I’d love for that to be wrong because Black Cat is an anti hero at best and I’d have loved at least one real villain to be newly introduced here). Naturally these civilians are probably generic reporters if anything nods to named reporters from the daily bugle’s comic history. My only real complaint is, assuming we truly won’t get new villains, Venom had been swapped for say Hydro Man. A bit of a stretch to see him as a sinister 6 member but at least it’d be an easy to print and exciting to build new villain. It’d be strange seeing any new heroes considering the villain roster of the set but I guess I am still open to receiving Elektra lol. -

but look up Spiderwomans design online. She has very visible and consistently drawn black lines tracing the red and yellow in her costume. Thats not a design choice for some artists either, her costume includes red yellow and black. Dual molded legs alone would be wrong because her boots are angled inwards, not flat. They also have black tracing the design. If done correctly her hip piece would be printed on, she’d have dual molded legs but in the front they’d be angles and have the black lines tracing the suit. She would also have dual molded arms with the yellow and red merging at an angle and with black lines tracing the design. Spiderwoman alone is not good enough for me. If they mess her hair up so be it I have a few pieces in mind that work for her (namely the one her SDCC figure had) but even the SDCC figure couldn’t go around the 1. Angled boots (those were included in the figure, and 2. The arm detailing. Spiderwoman needs both of these things and hopefully this time the detail is better. Sad state of affairs that years after the og figure releases, after better printing techniques have been introduced, we face the possibility she may be made with less detail. Google Spiderwoman, her figure needs arm and leg detailing to be accurate. And plain dual molded legs wont work. -
It just would have been easier if all these bat-vehicles were to scale and occupied normal sized sets so 1. We would have actual waves full of regular retail sets and 2. We could have D2C’s that focus on actually large characters (Anti-Monitor) or locations (Apokolips, Titans Tower) that are actually deserving of the price range. I think these are only D2C’s because they’re super scaled and don’t really need to be. Scaled much smaller we could probably get more sets that cover the remaining properties quicker but doing 1 a year every other year is going to drag this into the totality of this theme. Its like I can’t win we don’t get regular sets and the few d2c’s we get go to old properties that will take so long to finish up. if that list means anything this theme has no future beyond over-scaled bat sets. I just hope someone at lego understands that a substantial amount of people want more out of this theme even if its just 3 sets a year with new figures and good print. I just want more out of this theme.

So funny I posted a while back about being hopeless for when Spiderwoman would rerelease. I even mentioned how I was considering buying the SDCC figure on ebay. I can’t express how cautiously excited I am for Jessica Drew! We already got her ultimate design so I hope this is the classic suit but from my understanding thats more implied than confirmed. what worries me is she really needs both dual molded legs and arms as well as leg and arm printing. Leg loves to just mold two colors on top of each other but often these heroes have boots that curve at angles towards the center and its not usually a flat shape so I’m hopeful she gets the absolute best detail imagine able but I can see them skipping leg and arm printing and reusing Gamoras hair. Which at that point its like she may as well not have released. Idk I’m excited but also painfully aware she may be a detail lacking torso print only having hair piece repeating disappointment. She needs detail hope she gets it. -

Is it really too much? I do wish for what I ask for. I wish arm printing was normalized and used far more often. I wish characters that required said detail got it. As for cap, the design this figure is based off of (his endgame look) had kneepads, straddle on his hip, red fabric on his legs, arm detail and patches, and his hip piece should have had printing on it instead of going on his lower torso. Captain America is absolutely a figure that needed leg and arm printing (never said he needed dual molded legs though). Do us both a favor and go google his endgame design, you’re obviously forgetting he did not have solid blue arms and legs. You are okay with low attention to detail but if the bootleggers can print tons of detail I really don’t see how lego with all their profit can’t print the detail either. Well they have they just rarely use such printing methods. I think it’d be killing two birds with one stone. If a figure fills both the roles of a reporter and a love interest it makes a lot of sense to include that figure. But we shall see. If anything it may be a blessing we don’t get her because we can wait a few years for lego to pump new hairpieces out so one that fits her best can release before her figure does. -
But its also like “going through them all” is a nightmare for me. Without sounding like a broken record this is just not exciting for me and I imagine many other fans. I’d be okay with these builds being regular sets but supersized versions of every bat vehicle in cinematic history taking up every DC d2c until there are no bat-vehicles to make into oversized sets sounds like a nightmare. Like when if ever will we get regular sets or D2C’s that focus on something more. I guess I can accept this to be the state of the theme but like ugh this is so lame.

I mean by his own admission she’s been depicted as a journalist in some capacity. Maybe not her mainstream appearances but its dishonest to say its completely inaccurate to depict her as a journalist. Also I swore she was a journalist in the 90s Cartoon as well? Been a while since I saw that. -

Praying its Elektra. She’d make a lot of sense with the current figure selection. Also hope Mary Jane Watson appears as she is a journalist at the bugle. Lego Marvel rarely gets good figure printing I hope this set is an exception. I have my reservations on the black cat and Punisher figures as is. Punisher should have got hip printing, Felicity looks odd without cleavage. Why is Punisher smiling? Should be stern. Unhappy with design choices. which is a pattern with lego marvel. Iron Man looks great in his new leak but needs arm printing. New Cap needs arm and leg printing. Also should have came with a newly molded half broken shield. Or a new shield piece that maybe a has a destructing function? Its just lazy. Shuri needed leg printing as well. And her hairpiece is inaccurate. Look at all the new molds in Vidiyo, there’s no reason a unique hair mould for characters like Shuri should be a lot to ask for. Also Mantis got no leg printing. And the new Black Panther similarly needed arm and leg printing. It just all looks lazy and I’m looking forward to Jangbricks making a Marvel 2021 Minifigure video so I can see all these in one shot and just marvel at the complete lack of attention to detail. So many figures need leg prints and specialized moulds. Well really only Rocket and Shuri needed new moulds. But 2 is so little to demand. They all needed detailed printing none got. Its lame. I’d love if when the X/Men enter the MCU, Lego gives us both MCU and 90’s comics inspired X-Men designs. Also hope Marvel CMF series 2 and 3 can have some space for comics designs. -
Appreciate the response! Yes that sounds wonderful I’d love a set with that giant inflatable clown and one of those pink parade floats but it’d be costly to include all that. They’d probably just give us his duck float for $20-$30. Love this idea. Think this works best for Arkham as it can be expansive and has been portrayed as being over a cliff top in some incarnations as well as having specialized rooms for some villains in others. If we want a fully enclosed Arkham that skips no detail I think that would work best. Lego is releasing the Daily Bugle for Marvel and over there I wished to see more NYC modular builds and I think Gotham and Metropolis would be great fits for a modular series as well. examples of metropolis buildings; • Lexcorp • Daily Planet • Stark Labs • Lexcorp Factory Examples of Gotham Buildings; • Arkham Asylum (Series) • Iceberg Lounge • Gotham City Fairgrounds (abandoned Joker hideout) • Wayne Tech • Wayne Manor • Gotham Botanical Gardens • Gotham City Docks • Abandoned Ice Cream Factory Ah if only Lego would give us a Giganta set. I’d love to see it. I want more Wonder Woman villains and this new Hermione showed me that Lego can successfully pull off giant fig hair. I’d want more than one set with her, one with her leopard print dress and medium length red hair and another with her yellow and black jumpsuit with short brown hair. If we could also get her JLU pink dress and long red hair incarnation I’d be sooooo thrilled. Anti Monitor would have to be a lot bulkier and taller so I don’t think this is a good reference for how he should be made. I’ve always thought Trigon would look great with the buildable Star-Wars/Chima (Bionicle-esque) building style with a specialized head.

I enjoy the new punisher however I’d have liked his second facial expression to have been stern not smiling. Also wish they printed the skull belt on his hip and not on his torso I really hate how lego consistently prints designs that should go on a characters hip on their stomach. Captain America needed leg and arm printing and I’m getting bored with Lego never choosing to work on that. Are we to just accept this theme will always get a low attention to detail and accuracy? I’ve seen what they’ve done with other themes I wish they’d pay attention to detail here. -

This just hurts to read. Its reasonable, we have so many MCU properties on the way that we have no time for comic sets and when we do get comic sets Spidey/Venom dominate what we get. But ever since I caught wind of this theme I had dreams of 90s X-Men figures joining my collection and its just so unfortunate to think that may never come to fruition. If Marvel gets a second CMF series I hope they 1. Includes more than 12 figures regardless if Series 1Marvel has 12 or more, and 2. We finally get some comic designs. MCU fans are a plenty and many people are happy with our current set distribution but I would really love for Lego to do a little more for the comic fans. We usually get comic sets every year but recently lego has began a trend towards only giving Spidey comic sets but there’s so much ground to cover! Comic guardians, X-Men, Ant-Man, Wasp, Scarlet Witch, and Vision remain to be made. And each (besides Vision I guess) have several costumes I’d like to see them in. Not only do I hope Lego begins a trend towards normalizing leg/arm printing in MCU sets as well as Marvel sets in general, but I’d also like to see them diversify our comic sets. MCU sets cover a lot of ground successfully, I’d like to see comic sets based on more than just Spidey. I’d say Gamora, Rocket and Wanda are household names and can all carry successful sets in their comic designs. lastly how is no one talking about the potential for a new Mary Jane? She’s a reporter at the Daily Bugle! I’d like to see some other generic reporters as well, for some reason I feel like Eddie Brock will show up as well. If Thor gets a new hair mould this legacy wave I’d like to see it in red for MJW. -

One can dream. Shazams SDCC figure is different from the retail release which actually has better torso and face print and a better hair choice. Hopefully when Spiderwoman and Phoenix release in a set they have dual molded/printed legs, updated faces and potentially different but accurate and useful hair choices. I want Spiderwoman so bad but recent comments about fake sellers online has me hesitant to order an SDCC figure. So hopefully Lego hears this and releases them. I’d say Bizarro/Phoenix/Spiderwoman are all popular enough to get retail releases. Gotta say I’m a little stumped this cmf series is Disney + based bc I was hoping one or both of those figures would release in this series. -

1. Lego has made figures of Deadpool and Joker who both arguably have darker histories than Daredevil. He shouldn’t be “too dark” for the theme especially as its just a waiting game before he enters the MCU. Once a character is used in the MCU they’re safe bets for figure releases. 2. just had to look that up and wow. His torso piece works perfect for so many characters. That would be what i was thinking for the silhouette of characters like Kingpin and Bane. Great idea they should produce that someday. 3. I’m tired of lego using pieces that are “close enough” to how someones hair is depicted also I wouldn’t be a fan of the S9 Fortune Teller Piece and they have up to this point never printed over the circumference of the head of a hairpiece such as the straight bangs I suggested before. So who knows if they can print her cap. That said Lego is way too lazy when it comes to figure accuracy for this theme and I don’t like the standard they’ve set. Looking at the figure leaks from this year proves my point. Rocket is the wrong color, Black Panther and Shuri need leg printing, Shuri’s hairpiece is incorrect and they printed no braid, Black Cat is alright and Iron Man needs arm printing. Maybe someday. -
Love this list! Mine had some overlap but I love the idea of Space Cadet Porky Pig and that would give even more context to a new Petunia considering the cmf leaflet for series 1 seemingly has them all in pairs. Sylvester with Tweety. Lola with Bugs. Petunia with Porky. Wil E with Road Runner, Taz with Martian. That is such a fun design for Porky. Hector the Bulldog is my strongest alternate if Pepe can’t be made. small note if Lola is made for the 2020 cartoon they can give that style of animation on her face and her white tuff will be a light peach (on her face/cheeks). I agree, I wanted Tweety being done exactly like Ducky from Toy Story 4. Able to sit on a single stud. I think some will be glad he’s a figure but I’d love for him to be made both ways and come in a new cage mould with Granny. Also I think the following year is usually empty as you’ve seen there’s at least one usually a few years gaps between licensed series and their second series so not for the next 2-3 years I think Series 2 will take us by surprise.

Well that’s a bummer for Electro but one day we’ll see him for sure. I expect Peter to be new and JJJ’s face from 2013 to works fine for me but a new suit would be nice to get. And you’re right, how could I forget how essential reporters would be for this set! I was actually thinking about how I’d like to see more civilian figures in general in superhero sets and a setting like this is perfect for that. Well response to the Daredevil fig seems strong so maybe when Lego has a wave that isn’t during an MCU release (which I don’t expect very much of because between Disney Plus shows and new movies MCU has a lot coming up) maybe they will then take the opportunity to make a Daredevil set and include Kingpin/Elektra/Bullseye assuming they don’t come in the Bugle. I wish Lego made a standard big fig torso mould but just the torso so the arms and legs are separate so we can get creative between brick building arms and legs vs using specialized arm/leg pieces (big fig arm pieces already exist separate legs would be the only other new thing to introduce). This could be a good base for all big figs I wish they did this over the standard big fig body which still has fixed legs. Anyways not sure Hagrids body would be able to be repurposed for Kingpin but I agree he’s between a big fig and a minifig size and getting that midsized build is a little hard for lego right now but when they master that silhouette it will work well for Bane over at DC. Disagree Elektra has straight hair that thick curly hair piece S9 Fortune Teller piece is inaccurate to her slick and often thin hair. The piece I mentioned in my post is the closest and I’d rather they print her cap on that over giving her inaccurate curly thick hair. -
Disney Properties 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
cosmic replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I personally would prefer large sets from Disney movies other than lego replicas of theme park settings. But if some fans enjoy it and it sells well I’d be happy to see it produced. So long as the trend of large D2C’s based on Disney properties continues in any way. I would just hate to see them get in a cycle of making Lego replicas of the theme parks and lose focus on Disney properties new and old that may have settings or vehicles or a combination of builds that would make great sets. My own little wishlist - $400 Aladdin - Sultans Palace Figures - Aladdin (new face print), Genie (please give the figure justice I can never make myself enjoy the cmf version), Jafar, Jasmine in her red outfit, possible giant snake/Jafar build edit forgot to include a sultan figure! Also maybe the hourglass build for Jasmine $200 Snow White Cottage - all 7 (small) beds included, both floors with the hand washing station included. Some Lego animal such as deer, rabbits, birds and turtles. All 7 Dwarves, Snow White and the Evil Queen in old lady form $400 House of Mouse Building Full stage and 2 floor layout as accurate as they can get to the show I put the price high bc its a large building. Google the show if you’ve never heard of it the building has a really quirky design that I think fits in with a Disneyland setting. Would love to see some obscure Disney characters appear here. Cruella Deville, Honest John, Clarabelle Cow, Tuxedo Micky Mouse, Usher Max Goof, Server Goofy, Diasy hostess (new head piece with that ponytail) EDIT - maybe a specialized head mould might be what I need for genie? I didn’t not like the cmf version at all maybe thats the way to get him right? Hmm -

That would mean only daredevil, punisher and Black Cat are new characters. With 14 maybe 15 or hopefully even 16 characters 3 being new and 11-13 being repeats is not fun to think about. I think they can and should have filled in more villain slots. With Daredevil here I wouldn’t mind seeing Bullseye or Kingpin. Honestly hope Elektra gets squeezed in too even if they don’t give her a new mould and just print a red cap on piece 17346. If we get another Mary Jane why not give her a new hair piece? We need more red hair pieces imo. If Thor gets a hairpiece that accurately resembles his beautiful endgame hair we could get that in red for MJW. Aunt May has also never really gotten an exciting figure and she’s had many depictions over the years I’d like to see other than generic old woman we keep getting from Lego. I feel like Lizard has been confirmed not to show up but Shocker and Bullseye are easy to do with no new moulds so why not? It’d be so lame if this set only got 3 new characters fingers crossed for Electro and Mysterio with leg printing -
So I’m gonna be a hypocrite and admit that once I started thinking about it I would enjoy some sets from the burton films. I kind of do want figures of Uma Thurmans Ivy, Arnold’s Freeze and Danny Devito’s Penguin. Some ideas for sets that are not super expensive giant vehicles; $50 Gotham Museam Break In - Facade of the Museum with an Ice Tank. Walkway with museum ornaments and pillars leading to the staircase with the wall encompassing the back and right with the left side and front exposed. Figures - Freeze, 2 Goons, 1 Frozen Security, Batman $30 Ivy Hideout - small body of water leading up to her big red flower bed she sits on. Two pillars besides the flower bed leading up to an archway that is only a facade but gives the complete look of her hideout much like how the council of Elrond captured the facade of the location perfect for the price range. Figures - Ivy new hair mould arm/leg printing + a kissy face, Robin, Batgirl (using S6 Intergalactic Hair) $20 Bane and Ivy vs Gollums - meant to connect to Ivy’s Hideout, an extended piece of her hideout that connect to one or either pillar, includes a small walkway with boarded up walls and the pillars continuing from the other design. Some extra pieces to have the transformation from before vs Ivy takes it over. 4 figures (unlikely but I’m dreaming) Bane (using a torso mould like the bigger TMNT Turtle and Dog figures) Ivy (with a green headwrap similar to those in Lego elves, 2 Gollum Gangsters hope people like the ideas of these I may make a second moc wave including figures like Miss Bee Haven, Riddler and Two-Face
