  1. Saw this on instagram, was this the mystery $40 set? Or are we still getting a $40 set? I can’t find the set numbers for the $40 and $230 sets. I am so f*****g over these Adam West and Burton era sets I can’t wait till every little nook and cranny of those worlds has been fleshed out so we can MOVE ON. Oh my goodness I am so over Bat-vehicles based on old franchises.
  2. Interesting Asgard is coming, hopefully Thor’s supporting cast can be fleshed out. MCU fans must really be going crazy. Some thoughts • Miek is gonna be interesting. Will he be like one of those specialized character moulds from Star Wars like Sebulba? Will he use the skeleton torso as a base? • Honestly could have seen Korg get the big fig treatment but maybe they’ll give him longer legs? • Please give Thor a new hair piece his hair in end game was SO pretty and if made in red would work beautifully for MJW • How big is the Asgard set gonna be? Large set or big enough to be exclusive? Hope we get Odin and Frigga, Warriors 3, Sif, and Hemidall. • The more I look at it the more upset i am that venom comes in the D2C. I hate that figure so much as a character he‘s already overused and overrated but as a figure he’s always been dull and lego not giving him his back tentacles in recent years has only made him more dull. I don’t care if bigger villains are included I am so over Venom • For those wondering about what head mould would be used for Iron Monger, last years flat head Hulkbuster is accurate to some comics and the Iron Man Armored Adventures cartoon as well Hulkbuster toys released in recent years. Iron Monger simply does not have that head shape, and in the MCU his head was cylindrical and stumpy so the fear of Lego giving him a flat head is a bit unwarranted. The hulkbuster having a flat head was accurate, not a strange design choice from Lego. We can expect an accurate depiction of Iron Monger as well. if anything we should be worried they’ll give him the Sentinel treatment, not a flat head.
  3. I am here to confess I’ve always wanted an Uma Thurman Poison Ivy figure. As I’ve mentioned before the Burton films have plenty of characters to be made. Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman, Danny Devito Penguin, Uma Thurman Ivy, Jim Carry’s Riddler, Robin, Batgirl, Alfred, Max Shreck, Two-Face, the 2 good and bad girls who were in Two-Face’s lair were pretty cool designs, the Hockey Team Freeze Goons as well as Ms. B Haven would all be nice to get. Come to think of it I think the Burton figures that are missing intrigue me more than the missing Thalia Al Ghul, Scarecrow and Ra’s figures missing from the Nolan films.
  4. Some thoughts: • edit: Marvin comes with printed white shoes! Curious to see his new cloth or moulded skirt piece • If we get Road Runner I hope he’s not a figure, he should be an animal mould at best. • Tweety and Speedy Gonzales can come as animal moulds the way the Simpsons Series 2 had the new dog and cat mould with Lisa and Maggie. If they are small or midsized figures that would be extremely disappointing and over-scaled • I’ve recently read about Pepé Le Pew’s controversy as a character and how his entire shtick was inappropriate. Unsure if we will see him assuming TLG chose to skip the figure to avoid potential criticism. I’ll admit I’m unfamiliar with how long said character has been criticized for being inappropriate. • Here’s who I’m pretty sure we’ll see • (1) Porky Pig (duh) • (2) Marvin the Martian (duh) • (3) Bugs Bunny (unconfirmed but I mean c’mon) • (4) Daffy Duck (I could see him reusing the duck tail piece from the Disney CMF if they’re allowed to) • (5) Sylvester (I could see him using the Fox tail from Chima or getting a new tail mould that droops) • (6) Elmer Fudd (using the musket from the Revolutionary Soldier Series 10 figure) • (7) Tazmanian Devil (poseable mid sized legs) • (8) Granny (by nature of how few girl characters exist but also she’s played a substantial role in Baby Looney Tunes and more recent cartoons) - comes with Tweetie • (9) Lola (she may be newer but absolutely marketed heavily in recent years as well as having debuted in a pretty big film) • (10) Wile E Coyote - with a roadrunner animal mould. His head would be the only new piece but it could be a mask type mould. • (11) Yosemite Sam - 2 pistols and small legs • (12) Foghorn Leg Horn - kind of want an over the torso mould like the Yeti to give him a belly. He shouldn’t just be taller but I hope they get his weight through he should look “bigger” than the other figs.
  5. I agree. I was looking at my Darkseid big fig and felt quite dissatisfied with it. It looks a bit like a duplo character, the single mould makes it feel less animate and definitely less articulate than a mini figure. Recently I’ve been contemplating a new type of figure. Not at all brick built like Groot or Clayface. Instead I propose a new big fig torso piece that has pegs for arms and legs. Maybe keep the big fig hands but find a way to either brick build the arms and legs or specialize a mould for both that add on separate to the torso. That way big figures with large arms can be modified, big figures with more than 2 arms can have that added on, and leg sizes and height can be adjusted for each big fig. Lego typically messes up small mech builds but I think the legs are the easiest to pull off. I think Lego can do this successfully if they make the arms and legs look natural and not like some poorly connected mech, preferably with the joints and limbs very close to not make it look as lego and feel more organic. They would also only have to make big fig head moulds and a standard bald big fig head could also be reusable. And to add to that detailing on the torso can be printed but if large armor pieces need to be moulded over the torso they can slide over like a minifigures would. Or even have studs on the torso that can be covered with flat or rounded tiles but also removed and used by other bricks to create armor texture. Single moulded big figures no longer work for me I’d like to see lego try something like this. Legs and arms can be poseable, torso super reusable, big fig gets more articulation, arms and legs can be adjusted for each big fig without needing a new mould. Thoughts?
  6. The run down is @Quicksilver838 made a comment about the CMF series being comic based and that being likely how we would get a comic punisher and Daredevil. @Falconfan1414 responded wellllll and everyone took that as confirmation the cmf series was not comic based and indeed MCU based. Flash forward to a few days ago when we found out Daredevil and Punisher are coming in the D2C and Quicksilver readdressed the interaction speculating that Falcon was actually hinting at the statement that DD and Punisher would appear in the cmf series was wrong, not that the cmf series would be comic based. Falcon replied with a wink and that leaves me thinking that his inital point of the cmf series being comic based has remained unaddressed so I’d say there actually is some hope the series will be comic based but I think its going to be mixed.
  7. I’m willing to bet my guesses on Electro, Shocker, Punisher, Daredevil and Elektra are going to happen. I’m a little skeptical about Elektra, I could see them skipping out on her. Also pretty sure Mary Jane or Gwen will show up but my guess of both would be nice to see com w true. Very excited for the D2C build and figures. A comic set with both a good build and amazing figures is all I’ve ever dreamed of.
  8. Its fine, I just think the future of this theme is worth speculating about. This years empty roster is due to a film delay but as we saw they had no intention to release more. I personally hope to see both DC and Lego get their act together down the line but I think it would take years of new high quality shows and movies hitting the market to bring the brand back up. But eventually I think DC can return to a popularity worth receiving larger waves. We’ll see.
  9. Also the Thing would be a bigfig if done right so I doubt they’d include him. Due to the nature of each character needed two variants minimum (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human torch etc) I’d rather they skip the F4 completely with this series. The X-Men however, I’d love to see be represented in some form. I could see them making a Dark Phoenix figure using She-Hulks hair in red. Also lets not assume this Series will have 12 figures. Thats the new normal, but remember big Licenses like Harry Potter and Disney did not get their first mini figures series at 16 figures, the previous standard for series. They instead got 18 and 22 figures each, so Marvel being an also insanely popular theme, shouldn’t be expected to have a regular sized series either. I still have hope this may be more than 12.
  10. Didn’t start to doom-say? Part of my post was speculating what could be on the other end of next year and the other part was actually quite hopeful? I literally ended that statement talking about the possibility of Lego surprising us by listening to fan demands? The only negative thing about that comment was I poses a serious possibility of our Lego waves being dominated by cinematic releases only. That post was not negative stop projecting.
  11. I hope others would buy it to encourage Lego to make new creative decisions with these sets. I could see it being expensive if Lego were to include a roller coaster, circus tent, ferris wheel, river of love, hall of mirrors and bumper cars as well as the run down and abandoned details. I’m just sick of these oversized Bat vehicles. Such useless sets imo. Yeah no official release of hers satisfies me on its own. Personally really happy with the polybag Nightwing and the hair piece used in that and the 2014 Man-Bat sets Nightwing gets the job done for me. I like the hair and I like how it looks on him even if I know its not exactly accurate.
  12. In a lot of ways I’m still unsure about the future of this theme. We are getting sets for the Batman next year, but they were supposed to come out this year, and that explains the near empty roster of sets for this year. But they didn’t plan a normal comic wave. Its too early to tell but I’m not expecting a comic wave next year either. If this theme is not being cancelled do we expect the new norm to be empty shelves on years without marketable movies or is there hope for the theme to release comic sets? On that note do any of you have hope Lego would listen to fan complaints? On instagram and eurobricks fans are quite vocally dissatisfied with the state of this theme. With a legacy wave of MCU sets, Daredevil and Punisher showing up in a Daily Bugle set to attention to detail in the eternals sets, Lego has paid close attention to the demands of fans pretty well with Marvel. Is it crazy to think maybe we will start seeing things like accurate printing, new designs for villains and heroes if they’re being reused as opposed to the literal same designs we get year after year. Fans have requested sets for the Teen titans, to venture beyond just Batman or at least include more heroes and villains outside his world in sets with him, location builds as opposed to just vehicles, and better printing. I kind of hope Lego makes some surprises in the coming years the way they gave Marvel fnas everything they wished for this year.
  13. When is the $230 set expected to release? I’m assuming both sets are coming in the summer but is one slated for later?
  14. I’ve had enough of the Burton era and Adam West era sets. I’m ready to see something else. I’d rather they revisit the Burton films with mini figures of Bane, Freeze, Ivy, Batgirl, Robin, Catwoman, Penguin, Two-Face, Riddler, and Max Shreck still missing. I think the 60’s characters that are missing aren’t interesting enough designs and the likes of Egg-Head and King Tut have already been released. But ideally the D2C is one of the following • Jokers Funhouse/Gotham Fairgrounds set, all separate builds connected by being built on the same foundation, not separate small builds like the 2015 set. Could take heavy inspiration from the Arkham series, the clown mouth should be big and connected to a building that leads to a rollercoaster, a river of love build that goes around the span of the park, a small ferris wheel unrelated to another villain just run down with rusty fair colors, some booths and a circus tent to recreate the death of Dick Graysons parents. • Arkham Asylum either in the same style of the 2013 set or as an add on to that set. I’d love to be able to connect to that 2013 Arkham build for a modular effect but I reason I’ll probably have to moc that • if its a Burton era set I’d prefer a playset with figures covering the rest of the cast so we can move on from this era Additional desires for the figures coming in the $40 and $230 sets • If Batgirl comes as Barbara Gordon, please give her her leg printing and dual molded legs. I’d prefer they skip the burnside costume bc its easy to recreate combining the 2014 head with TLBM body and legs. I’m open to them remaking the Rebirth Batgirl we just got because she needs leg printing and dual molded legs for her bat-tipped boots. And her hair should not have been over the shoulder and would actually require a new mould to have her thin sleek hair fall of her back with the tiny bat ears perking overhead. I hope however its the classic Batgirl design with the black outfit and yellow boots (again Batgirl will almost always need dual molded legs and printing to look accurate, also please stop printing her crotch level belt on her torso it really should go on her hip piece. And a dark blue cape with the head piece from 2014. Just please give her the detail she needs •If Ivy appears I hope she’s finally made green. If Freeze appears I hope he uses one of his older larger helmet moulds. If Riddler appears give him the specialized question mark piece made in TLBM with the same hat piece please!! • I hope we get 1 new leaguer at least. Of course its Batman sets but I hope they squeeze another hero into one or both of these sets. So many to choose from but Doctor Fate and Fire and Ice are my biggest must haves right now. Mr. Terrific would be nice to see as well
  15. I mean consider at the moment neither are receiving sets. And again, I am advocating for a general fantasy theme that rotates its focus. On the one hand castle and pirate themes of recent years have only pasted about 1-2 years anyways. Given a rotating schedule it would take 4 years to give each sub theme its second wave and 6 assuming it has a 3 subtheme focus. That can be promising assuming fans support it enough for each to get its second wave. My ideas are vague and the thought honestly came to my mind i wanted to write it down before losing it. But I’m thinking now how would I clearly define a third fantastical subtheme. I’m going to reconsider my idea, as it was written in haste. I’m going to write out all the fantastical elements I want seen in general; elves, orcs, ogres, centaurs, castle king, queen, royal court, soldiers, inhabitants of an upper class “Far Far Away” inspired medieval kingdom where the king’s castle stays. Medieval farms and peasant houses similar to the Village Raid of 2011(?). Dragons, wizards, mermaids, pirates, sea monsters, krakens, Dwarves, honestly Vikings could even be implemented in this considering their use of dragons and gods in their mythology. Even greek mythology sets could be made with this. I’m thinking a theme that could cover every fantasy element without really taking away from the source material. No odd creative decisions like red elves or purple island warrior men (the new Ninjago series). The elves should look like the elven maiden from Series 16. The ogre’s should look like something Lego has never done before. Their trolls and orcs can also stick to a green and brown color scheme while providing new details and uniform choices. Oh and fairies! I was inspired by the Disney fairies where they have fairies of different tribes. I’d like to see something like that here too. I like the butterfly wings included in the Series 17 girl, the traditional fairy wing piece and even some of the plastic wing pieces used over the years could work well for different fairy tribes. I wouldn’t want a storyline that has an original cast set to be present in each set, but rather the figures be appropriate for the build. The reason I want the theme to rotate its focus is to maintain these themes on shelves without the stress of each one needed to perform well enough to carry on for years, when the strength of each sub theme and the thirst for that third year where an idea can be brought back can, I think help sales because when say we get a pirates wave year after year each one needs to perform at a certain standard that audiences and even Lego designers may not always be enthusiastic about maintaining. It can prevent the theme from being discontinued early because audiences won’t bore out from an idea but rather yearn for it if executed correctly.
  16. I’ve been dying to find a discussion thread like this. I honestly love Castle and want a lot of its elements represented in Lego at any given time. The Castle and Space themes are some of my favorite in house properties and I myself have been wanting Lego to bring them back. I personally have an idea and I have hope it may actually come to fruition one day. A general fantasy theme. I’m not so much a fan of story driven themes because of Lego’s track record of how they handled them. Lets look at a few examples • Chima - the fire and ice plot of the show killed the theme in my opinion. We stopped seeing regular lairs and castles for the heroes and their regular tribal vehicles and in turn everything became red or white. Creative decisions like that, where they don’t know how to move on and spend 2 waves beating a dead horse make me lose interest in an otherwise compelling theme • Monster Fighters - gone too soon • Nexo Knights - the theme was way too stylized and as someone who wanted castle elements seeing them represented in a high tech and color specific way made the theme not feel very versatile and stuck in its own image • Hidden Side - perfect theme but I must admit the main cast was not that exciting to me and a big let down of having a story driven theme for me is the constant recurrence of protagonists and their repeating designs I barely cared for in the first place. There are some advantages to a story driven theme. For on they typically receive cartoons (Ninjago, Chima, Nexo Knights) or an app (Hidden Side) so they tend to have a broader reach with audiences because they can reach people across platforms not exclusive to Lego (TV and video games). And the advantage of a generic theme would be how easy it is to army build when instead of say, a named character you get a generic soldier. My dream of how Lego would revive Castle is under a general fantasy label. I’d like to see the theme of the waves rotating. One year it could be castle. Red kingdom is fleshed out, with a castle, a series of small shops and markets that make up the kingdom, maybe some village farm and home builds, some vehicles for the king and his men, and dragon lairs and evil towers for the evil wizards. We usually see small tower prisons and carriages in Lego castle so notice how some of my suggestions haven’t been made yet. But we can see the different kingdoms rotating each time they get back to a castle wave, and different kingdoms, maybe with the knights teams being fleshed out versions of some of the logos that have appeared in the cmf series. We can get buildings that represent the Far Far Away model of a kingdom, surrounding the castle, and also poor villages with peasant far removed from the kings land. I’d love to see Lego represent that medieval dichotomy of poor village and capitol living people. Evil wizards, goblins, orcs, dwarves, and elves could all be represented. but here’s where my idea changes. The theme is described as rotating. One year its castle, but the next year its pirates. Pirates vs soldiers. Mermaids, underwater kingdoms, giant sea monsters, viking ships, treasure hunters, treasure islands, spirits and sea creatures are all represented. Then another year its a general fantasy wave. Cyclops’s, orcs, trolls, dragons, fairies. Think of all you can do with fairies. Winter fairies, grass fairies, fire fairies, dark fairies, pink skinned fairies, fairies with butterfly wings and pink skin, fairies with bug wings and blue hair, high tech fairies. Steampunk sets. Trolls village sets, ogre wooden campout sets, giants capturing and eating protagonist who needs to escape set, fairytale worlds. Basically I want a Lego theme that switches between generic castle (with different protagonists and antagonists, villages, kingdom sets etc), pirates (vs sea monsters, soldiers, and mermaids of various designs) and fairytale (ogres, giants roasting humans, troll mountain fortress’s that need to be escaped from, and forest witches). What the reasoning Lego gives for the continuous switch is up to them but I don’t think I want specialized characters for the theme, and would prefer the cast rotate and focus on the specific fantasy element being represented in said set as opposed to the same characters appearing throughout each wave in the middle of a different landscape. This helps avoid repetition and gives each set room to make new designs that fit perfectly into each concept. I apologize if this was worded poorly I was struggling with how to phrase my desires for a general fantasy theme that would cover both castle, pirates, and general fairytale and there’s a lot of overlap between the 3 but long story short I don’t want it done with a central cast because I fear it would detract from the creativity of the figures produced. Feel free to nitpick or inquire more about these ideas. Do you hate them? I really like them lets talk it out.
  17. The beat boxes are somehow more boring the more I see of them. I agree they’re good to display the figures, and I’ll use them for that. But admittedly I am only buying these for the figures themselves so I hope the actual sets coming this summer are impressive. This summer wave is likely the last wave of the theme, I’d be surprised if it lasts longer but definitely don’t see this sticking around. Hope they just carry the creativity of these designs over to the regular cmf series.
  18. I left little notes next to every suggestion you made. Some characters (like Red Skull end game cloaked, the Warriors 3, Sif, Odin, and Whiplash) I agree with you are good MCU decisions to be made in the cmf. Others, namely the supporting roles of non heroes I disagreed with. But I tried my best to not be closed minded and was actually pretty open to some of your suggestions being included in the cmf series. I even added ideas for the Thor movies and admitted some of these characters could be produced. We just disagreed with what ideas are compelling enough for the cmf Series and thats fine. I stand firm that some of these choices are way too boring and pedestrian for a superhero series but they are still worth making. I even agreed a fair share should come in the series. Interested to hear if others agree with me than characters like Pierce and Bill Foster are not super enough to come in the cmf series or if other MCU fans agree they want a cmf series composed of civilian versions of our favorite heroes and supporting characters in business suits. Personally I want SUPERHEROES in my cmf series but to each his own. Hehe
  19. I better hurry for the Avengers truck. I really need that Hawkeye and Captain America. The rest weren’t worth getting in the first place. Really interested in the figure selection for the Daily Bugle. We could get some new heroes and villains but considering the nature of the set I see us getting some journalist and front desk figures to occupy the building. Assuming another build is included we may get other civilian figures.
  20. I have hope this is indeed true, if the wellll was in reference to where Punisher and Daredevil would show up, that means there is maybe hope the CMF series is comic based? I sure hope so, but then again it could also be mixed. Fingers crossed its at least 16 figures. Marvel is a really big license. You could say “the new average Series is 12 figures” but other popular brands like Disney and Harry Potter did not get their first CMF series like other normal series, and instead had 18-22 figures each. So Marvel, another popular brand wouldn’t be expected to have 12 figures either. Because 12 is the new standard, but popular Licenses typically break that mould on their first CMF anyways. So I have hope we will get more than 12 figures. I think both Lego and Marvel understand the demand this Series will have. some new thoughts • Rockets new brown print is nice I guess for the accuracy. His suit is bugging me however. Shouldn’t have been so grey. It could have been a dark blue with maybe grey accents but it was more dark bluish than solid grey. The grey color really dulls the figure out especially considering thats not his correct suit color. Complete waste tbh • Venom bust is not bad but definitely not as good as the carnage one. That bust was really something else • I added Daredevil and Punisher to my wishlist of figures for the Daily Bugle so hearing them basically confirmed to appear in that makes me so happy. I hope we don’t just get the same villains we always get, my wishlist was jam packed with villains but if say we only get 3, let them be Shocker Electro and maybe just 1 repeat. I’m tired of Spiderman sets having the same roster and it makes me really hesitant about getting my hopes up for the figure selection of this set. • Hearing 2 of my wanted figures will indeed show up in the set has me hoping more of my wishes will come true. I made a long list but I could easily see Electro and one of Spideys love interests from my list coming true as well. I hope its Gwen because we haven’t got her yet but if my wish of seeing both her and Mary show up comes true I’d be so happy! Also hoping we see Elektra. •Speaking of Elektra I’d like her to get a specialized piece (that could also be reused in pirate for just a straight haired version of the fortune tellers mould) but I think I’d be satisfied with her getting her head band printed onto a dark brown version of Harumi’s hair piece. •Leaked info shows Shuri won’t get leg printing but she will get a specialized cloth piece for her olive skirt. That is so lame. The legacy wave is so far disappointing with figures taken her and rocket in mind. She needs those olive line details on her leg. If the skirt piece was accurate it would only cover her waste and she should still have visible legs that would need printing. It sounds like she’s going to look inaccurate. Frustrating how less popular themes get such detailed printing and superheroes continuously gets what I would call lazy effort for the accuracy of their figures. Shuri needs leg printing. Rockets suit is dark blue.
  21. Speaking of CGI I think that’s one thing that DC has never got right. 2011 to now their graphics look so bad. Justice League and BvS, even Aquaman looked wonky to me. They keep using cheap CGI and their graphics always look so 90’s-early 2000’s. Its insane because they’re owned by Warner Bros. I remember enjoying the CGI in the Harry Potter films and the Jurassic World films. Why does DC have such bad CGI when other projects made by the same studio excel?? That has always been a huge frustration with me. I myself have a list of qualms with the DCCU and don’t have time to go into each one. I’ve basically lost faith in it at this point.
  22. Personally I’m okay with Lego depicting actors as they are so if an actor is a tan Malaysian man I would want a tan figure that matches his tone. Unsure if detailing on the eyes is appropriate I could see that being viewed as excessive. EDIT: how did I not see the figure above? That is exactly how an Asian figure should look, accurate to the skin tone, not mocking any of its features and it even includes detail on the eye without looking like a mockery. My new stance is I trust in Lego to create accurate representation. Is Stan Lee confirmed to not be in the Series? This leaves me speculating how we would receive him if we ever did. I’d personally prefer a polybag, but I could see that having less shelf time than a set and Lego may view him as a figure many would really want, and be more inclined to release him by more expensive means. My second thought is disguised as a civilian figure. What if he’s in the Daily Bugle and its very clearly Stan Lee and the figure is listed as like “civilian” as a joke to how he has cameoed through the MCU? Unlikely I guess they’d name him but I could also see him accompanying other civilians in an expensive set. I don’t think they’d go the SDCC route because in recent years I’ve noticed our SDCC exclusives have been more variants of existing figures as opposed to lucrative characters like they did for the first 4 years.
  23. I have not! Honestly hair and accessories is usually all I do to modify my figures but I have made a purist Amanda Waller. Maybe one day when I understand how to post images I’ll show all the hair swaps and little add ons I’ve made to my superhero collection.
  24. I would never purchase customs. I’m just a purist by nature I only want to purchase what Lego officially produces. As long as lego avoids these properties I won’t have them in my collection which is why I really want DC to get their cinematic game going and to start some newer iconic cartoons for this new generation of kids because I want Lego to have a reason to give us more than what we currently get. on that note I’d love to see Lego sales data. Judging by this year this theme must sell not just “not as good as Marvel” but its probably one of Lego’s weakest selling themes.
