  1. At first sight I also thought that it is metalic dark blue. Dark color with proper lighting reflect much better that the bright ones. The reflection itself is still blue and metallic reflections should have more of the color of the object being reflected, so it is probaly standard dark blue. Still looks great and contains almost complete set of the blue panels - great for MOCs. Really nice color combination.
  2. I wonder about the steering. Picture looks like rear axle is not steered.
  3. Looks really good in blue/white/mettalic silver combination. Much more optimistic than the black version. It is interesting how simple ring on rims brings the wheels to life. Seats were also nicely improved. Well done. EDIT: I might be wrong, but on picture it looks like no rear-axle steering. Only front axle is turned, rear is straight. Did they really included motorized winch? Or is it hand powered?
  4. It looks like there is a new blog entry with a sneak preview announcement, but the preview is not there yet.
  5. I do not have wish for any particular decoration, but I would like to have possibility to decorate the technic panels. If LDD team will not include any decoration for them, it is ok, I will use custom decorations in LDD2POVRay, but decoration surface cannot be "custom" added so at least adding thoses decoration surfaces would be nice.
  6. You are welcome. What problem did you experienced with those parts? I tried it with the whole file without problem. It is necessary to convert at least model with 1.2.10 to force regenerating of some include files. After that, rendering of this file should work.
  7. It is not actually an LXF but LXFML file. That's why it appears to be corrupted. File extension is wrong. Thank you for pointing this out, it is fixed in latest release (1.2.10). LDD 4.3.6 contains some new parts having IDs with 6 digits and it was more than expected by version 1.2.9. By the way, this file contains one part, which is not in the latest brickset. I recommend to resave the file in the LDD before converting. It will fix unsupported brick and also mismatch in file format and extension.
  8. If you will create UserPalettes folder in your LDD folder (in the %AppData%\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer) and put there an LXF file with any model, it will act as a custom palette. So you will be able to limit offered parts to colors and parts used in that LXF file. For BI I was able to use Groups and later some simple XSLT transformation to convert the groups and subgroups into BI steps. But proper grouping isn't very easy, since grouping functionality has some limits in the LDD (you are not able to insert group between groups, it is always added to the end of the group list), rearranging of the groups is also not possible so you have to think quite a lot in advance (or make manual corrections in the LXF file, when you missed something).
  9. I wonder why this was not handled by the collision boxes. Each stud has a collision box so there should be a conflict when they intersect.
  10. Just a quick info: POV-Ray has new beta 3.7 RC7, so I updated also LDD2POVray to support it. You will need at least LDD2POVRay 1.2.9 to work with POV-Ray v3.7 RC7.
  11. The file path in the message box seems to be wrong. db.lif path should point somewhere to your profile directory. Something like: C:\Users\SBFD\AppData\Roaming\LEGO Company\LEGO Digital Designer\db.lif. Create a file named ldd_brushed_aluminum_base_plane.inc in your LDD to POV-Ray includes directory and put into the file following: #include "textures.inc" plane { y, min_extent(ldd_model).y texture { Brushed_Aluminum } } It should be offered by the converter as custom base plane file so just select it in the converter gui. Other built-in POV-Ray textures should work just like that.
  12. Yes, that's exactly what I also focused on. It looks like 8t sliding gear. Very nice of TLG.
  13. This looks really amazing. There are not many studless ships and definitely not with so many details. Great work.
  14. Not enough parallel with the line formed by the studs, but very nice otherwise. Since the shrinking is part of the brick position transformation, it is used also by POV-Ray and that's why it gets also rendered like that. Transformations are taken exactly as they are stored in the LXF file.
  15. It is supposed to be limited edition, so that's why so low count.
  16. And who did? There were two weeks for voting. Is it really so important if the entry is rejected immediately or there is some first round to see also opinions of the people before rejecting some entry? They simply cannot and will not produce some entries just because they have many votes. According to votes Zblj's tracker should win, but it did not even comply with the rules.
  17. I would recommend not to be so offensive. Many people will tell you that log head top looks good. But loghead top on the 9398 looks like it simply does not belong there. It is simply just not well designed for that chassis.
  18. Do you plan to organize it as elections? I mean, in case of any other public forum you will probably say that 10 thousand TLG employees signed to the forum just to ruin democratic winning of the enforcer.
  19. My fault, wrong blog entry, read it here. And confirmed here.
  20. And where is the violence here? It's their competition. Their rules. They reserved the right to reject whatever they want. All participants agreed to those rules when they tried to enter the competition. I did not see any entry in the gallery before the competition began. I have seen empty gallery. And also first few entries as they were added during first days. So which one was weeks ahead? You are probably a few thousand kilometers far away. Read the blog entry from the 7th of November 25th of September. You will see there that top 100 designers will get the winning set. That is much more prizes than just one huge prize for the winner. And that I consider much better. Why? Because it was big? Or colorfull? Or why "should"? You remind me Frank Burns from M.A.S.H yelling to the pillow in the Margaret's tent when he was not promoted to be the commander of the M.A.S.H. "This is my M.A.S.H, mine, mine, mine...". And few millions of kids do it also on the floor. Boss as a musle car in black is also not not my favourite design and color combination. And I am not complaining or yelling anywhere that some other entry should have won. We had such thread here. It was opened when the oficial voting started. You can read also a discussion there.
  21. Thank you for the explanations. That is a nice hack to overcome this sliding limitation. I hope there will also some more compact solution in the future.
  22. Thank you. So there is a connection between motor and LA. But since it is a connection, it is not important on which end is the motor and on which the LA. Would it be possible to rotate whole boom? So that panelled part is fixed and inner part retracts. And attach the fork with the LA to the inner part where is motor attached now and attach motor to the panelled part where is the LA now. May be I miss some important detail. I would like to see that detail with diff, because that sliding gear solution always bothered me. I wonder why only worm gears can slide. TLG should produce also some other standard gear that can slide on axle. Usefull for these retractable booms.
  23. Very nice use of LAs. It surprises me, that it is able to lift 1kg. Boom lifting LAs seem to be something like 5 studs away from pivot and even non-retracted boom is 30 studs long. So the weight of cargo is like 30/5 at the point where LA is attached. This is at least 6kg force on the LAs. Did you have any particular reason to retract the "panelled" part of the boom? That portion seems to be heavier so it should be static and the lighter inner part should retract. Or are there some other benefits of this behaviour?
  24. I can imagine, that a "Mindstorms Light" would be nice. Just like ultralight instead of 747. With reduced capabilities in means of comunication with other bricks, bluetooth, wifi etc. May be less memory. And some other features which are used only by more advanced users. But I am not sure how big impact on the price it would have. And if parallel development of a similar product is reasonable. Sofware company usually sells Home and also Pro version. Tool makers also sell Hobby and Pro versions.
