That blue axle pin helps the rotor clutch to stay in place. It prevents the cluch gear to popup too much. Without that pin the clutch could popup to straight up position. This pin prevents it and clutch can popup just enough to let the rotor rotate freely while still returning quickly to engaged position. EDIT: Now I see it was already answered. I am sorry I did not read carefully. I don't know why, but when reading on a mobile I sometimes do not get to the last page as expected.

It is not necessary to eat any bricks. :-) Nobody denies, that it is to heavy and not powerfull enough to fly like a real model. I personally do not expect it to fly with batteries. But it would be nice if it could fly with a 5m long cable. 2 weeks ago it looked like motor is not able to lift itself. Now it can fly. And if in a few years, LEGO will produce RC unit with metalic axles and other parts sturdy enough to be a core of some simple helicopter, that will be the real one. But Zblj will keep his credit for being first pioneer in LEGO flying.

It's a matter of your expectations. A few years ago nobody expected from Jeniffer Clark's excavator to integrate motors with pumps, it was acceptable to have cables and air hoses there and controller in hands. Now it is an iconic demonstration of creativity and possibilities of LEGO those days. And now there is full RC 8043. So why not have now first cable controlled LEGO helicopter? And in few years a real one.

Yes, I know that for steering and stable flight without unwanted rotation it is necessary to control the speed of each motor individually. My suggestion was only a temporary solution to see it really flying. Until you will have the needed wires and batteries. You will probably need very a smooth speed controller and not stepping one.

[HELP] Pneumatic Engines
hrontos replied to LiamM32's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, they use external compressors and you would like to stick to compressor built from LEGO parts? In that case a big air tank is necessary, since air consumption is huge and brick built compressors do not produce enough air flow to continously supply engine (or a big compressor is needed). -
[HELP] Pneumatic Engines
hrontos replied to LiamM32's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
LPE Power or nicjasno or Nico71 have a lot of informations about pneumatic engines. There are also videos of RC cars powered by these engines. V8 from nicjasno has power around 100W which is far beyond power of electric LEGO motors. May be a model with pneumatic engine could even fly. -

Works fine for me now, thank you. -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
hrontos replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The only solution to this I found is to create a new group out of selection and apply the paint bucket to the group (directly to the thumb image of the group). All group members will be recolored. Not very comfortable, but better than using a text editor. -
[Software] LDD2PovRay
hrontos replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think, those white pixels are the highlights. Since the image resolution was quite low relative to model size and rendered without any antialiasing some of the pixels corresponding to the highlight points received "highlight" color (white or almost white) and are much brighter than the neighbouring ones. Resize it down to 33% (25%, 50%) or render with some antialiasing on. -
technicbricks down?

It worked for me when Ondra reported it is not working. It worked even yesterday. It does not work now. It looks like the NS changes are propagated and until it is complete, it will make problems. Or the change was wrong and it's propagation is making problems. -
Voting should start on the 9th of January. TLG should produce 20 000 of these sets and since it was announced as a PR project for fans and not as real money maker may be it will not be that expensive. So everybody hopes for price range similar to original crawler with some nice parts as added value.

Thank you for all your support that helped the quad bike to get to finals. You made me happy. Even if it will not win, I am happy with being selected. I was waiting that these days we will know more entries going to the finals. At least 5 of EB member's entries I expected to be selected. Of course I am by no means an expert on technic sets or the TLG plans and production and so I have no rights to judge or comment. I thought that technic team will justify the entries. Like if decorated tires should be the complicated part of the Dunachaser, that can simply say without decorated tires. Or if it should be the motorized winch in case of some entries, they can say no motor for winch. Or if the color is expensive to produce, they can say no orange but red. They reserved the right to make necessary modifications so such justification is logical to me. It will be kind of disappoinment if the entries copying jeep or landrover or other standard designs were selected since it was in rules that it should not be copies of any design.

Problem with 9398 drivetrain
hrontos replied to Snowbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Flip one differential. They should be both oriented to the same (left or right) side of the chassis. -
Are LXF files insecure? Is LDD dangerous?
hrontos replied to pbat's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I would also say, that this is not that urgent. First of all, LXF is not very commonly used and exchanged file format. So to get a file from an untrusted source is quite unlikely. There is a lot of software using zlib versions having these problems, so it is more likely to get infected by a standard zip file. Moreover, you can always open the LXF with a zip software or to use LXFML format. -

I am sorry, if I will give a stupid question, but do you have your receiver switched to the same channel as the transmitter? -
Congratulations on that, well deserved. After the initial strange messages from moderators, this is really good one.
