  1. +1 for stacker9000 Thanks for the trade very good trading partner
  2. The only problem with the unique torsos are you actually can have too many Legolas and Gimlis. You can never have too many blue soldier number two from the ambush set
  3. Been collecting since 1990, have most of them. photo link below Doing the comparison, the LoTR and Hobbit sets are more ornate and I think it drives to cost up just a bit. Helm's deep is 130, most of the castles of the last ten years have been kept below or at 100. The small castle set is 12 or 13 bucks for four soldiers and a dog - great army builder the small sets for LoTR and Hobbit Gandolf arives 12 bucks The Riddle 10 bucks Wizard battle 12 bucks and limited release ploy bags 4 to 5 bucks: Urk hai warrior Frodo Mirkwood Elf Guard Gandolf I am not complaining, my Helms Deep arrived this week, it is an amazing set, combined it with four Urk Hai army sets I have 25 or 30 Urk Hai with trolls, orcs, cyclops, wargs and mineataurs moving to attack. The same $250 would buy the castle line castle, dragon keep, gatehouse, wagon and 5 ambush sets that's 20 goodguys and 18 bad guys with a damsel, three horses, five dogs
  4. I call it the Lion head to draw a difference from the Lion creature from the 1980s which is still one of the best crests. The Lion head or lion head is more childish, but happy to have the castle line at all. The alternative Lord of the Rings/Hobbit are amazing models but can't Army build with them because they are charactor based and the licenced sets are more expensive. The crown crest is similar to the series a few years ago, but not exactly the same. Dragon symbol is the fifth dragon (the original and still the best small blue dragon, the second is a larger version on the first oval shield, the third was green, the fouth was the kingdoms green dragon now we have the red dragon. Lego needs to retire the dragon and lion head...we have had: Dragon, boar, lion, lion head, falcon, bat, snake, skull, troll, crowns, bear, monkey, blue falcon, wolf twice purple and brown, scorpion, crossed battle axe, dwarf wings, stag, unicorn (armored horse), bull, tree, some decorated with no creature, even the muskateer had a crest on the tunic. and the classic yellow castle designs (bring back please) I think we could have: Griffon Eagle Owl The sun the moon a horse clover diamond spade star and maybe some classic cheverons, stripes, crosses,
  5. I think the new Revolutionary war soldier fits in quite nicely with these figure to make quite an impressive colonial era theme. British, French, Spanish, American Colonies later USA. Glad I picked up a number of these sets over the years. There are plenty of hats to make quite a scene.
  6. I have to say I am not happy with the Willy wonka golden ticket minifig I look for only certain figures, the Native American, the Female Barbarian, Roman Commander, the Revolutionary Soldier. I am one of those that patiently stand and find only what I need. Now with the golden ticket guy, more stores will keep them behind the counter. I will have a tougher time getting what I need. I don't like getting spares, I try to trade on the website trading portal, but generally just want to buy what I need and be done with it. I like to think I have liberated many a historic figure from ending up being left on the floor and sucked up in a vacuum. brickshelf member dgh PS if Super Goblin reads this please check mail about a Minifig trade.

  10. Recommend pliers to remove the chain and some snipes to remove the base at the top of head. The head slips off and you can cut more of the post through the neck.

  19. I am an AFOL with 20 years of collecting in castle. I have used Pirates, old west, Star Wars, Ninjas, Vikings, Ninjago to augment. The CMF have been a boon to my collection, as have Lego opening a store and a discovery center in Kansas City USA. There only 11 unique set I don't have from all years. This is a non-profitable hobby for me (I have thrown out all of the boxes), unless I count bagging up spare parts in ziplocks and selling at yard sales. I am a trained Army Force Designer, so that is my passion for Army design. I do enjoy the creations for Minifigs many have produced. I have never taken a CMF from a youngster, I will help anyone find the one they are looking for to include the store employees. Just crossed 5140 minfigs with several hundred CMF as listed above. Lego seems to walk a line between kids and us AFOLers and I am ok with it. I don't generally buy on the secondary market for CMF, way too over priced picked up several Forestmen and Muskateers in the build a figure bins in the stores . No kids are buying on secondary market. Just AFOLers. It is the profitters that are scooping up intial boxes of CMF at time of release and trying to sell on line to places and people that can't get them or can't wait. I did get several CMF in smaller quantities to augment my collection. Any female CMF in a dress has potential in Castle Lego theme that has very few female characters. The Graduate looks like a 15th century priest (kind of). Fishermen make good peseants, the ice skater can even be a hospitality specialist for those lonesome crusading minifig soldiers Will try and do more photos soon
  20. The Eygptian Army has five hats: The new Gold with blue stripes (Pharaoh), Black, White, Yellow and yellow with blue stripes. Pictures I took last night sucked. But I have Pharaoh with gold, his wife and son (with Gold). Commanders with White and Yellow w/ blue stripes. Captains with just yellow. Elite Soldiers with black and regular soldiers with no hat or blue bandana.

Waiting for the Elrod figure for the Elfs, and Bag End for Dwarf Leaders
  22. How about an 18th or 19th century American trader, 'coonskin cap and a brown bess rifle. Lego was heavily into the cowboy theme, part of the original park in Denmark is still an Old West town. Could lead to a new round of Old West, American Civil War or Revolutionary war soldiers at least in CMF.
