  1. I'm always conflicted with BAM on whether to get heads or not. My head, ha ha, says don't bother, as they're only 26c through Bricks and Pieces. But my heart keeps looking at the different designs and wanting the variety that they bring.
  2. Looks terrific. I can never decide whether this or 6270 is the favorite set from my childhood. Nicely done.
  3. Just seen on Reddit that it should be August 1-15. https://www.reddit.com/r/legodeal/comments/w711e3/most_regions_legolegocom_august_promos_00/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
  4. Exactly this. It makes most business sense for LEGO to focus on the key scenes, within the price points that they've set. With a limited run needing mass market appeal, they're going to focus on the greatest hits.
  5. Yes. The stores that don't have a BAM tower in the US appear to do this. The stores where all the pieces are just loose in the BAM tower don't (appear) to do it. So if that is there, all you can do it select those figures and the store employees will get it for you. You can choose which accessory you get through. I was in California this week. San Francisco, Hillsdale, and San Jose stores all had pre-made BAM figures, if anyone is interested and in the area: San Francisco Hillsdale San Jose
  6. That's lovely!
  7. RULES! RULES! RULES! RULES! RULES! Peacock with adjustable tail feathers would be cool. That would also suggest that the feathers could be removed, which gives great options for decorations in many places.
  8. Fixed it for you, to comply with the 'rules'.
  9. Fascinating history. Can you link to the separate thread if you start it? Thanks.
  10. Yep, those are the ones! I also saw the red gnome one mentioned above. I was tempted, but passed.
  11. It may seem like a waste of slots (in this imaginary game that won't impact anything in the real world), but I'd rather like: 1. A different cat (in a different pose). 2. Updated parrot 3. Updated crab 4. Duck 5. Swan Or, making more of the animals more widely available. Why is it so hard to buy many of them that are currently in production (only in the PAB tower, for example)? Why not use more of the CMF animals in future sets (mouse, flamingo)?
  12. And there are some really amazing candidates from the recent reviews too.
  13. I didn't see the beard, although I could only find one crown, so maybe they were there, but scooped up previously?
  14. Just got another email, saying that expected shipping date is August 17. We all know that's not accurate, but now we're probably going to get an email every week until it ships. Maple was always right about this, but, you know, trying to be optimistic! :)
  15. I totally get it. FWIW, I will buy it, and I will let my daughters play with it. They like female characters in things, so they'll enjoy it and won't see any issue. More broadly, think about it from LEGO's perspective. Those people that don't like the idea and want historical accuracy will kick up a small fuss (and that's fine), but then buy the set anyway and swap the heads, which is easy to do. Very, very, very few people are going to not buy the set because of this. However, more general sites like The Verge, IGN, and bizarrely, Business Insider, who also picked up the story of this, showcase the set to a much broader audience. Some of them might be interested in castles and could well be tipped into getting it for the idea of a group of female knights. LEGO needs to cater to both AFOLs and getting in new high-spending customers with this kind of set. The Ferrari SP3 Daytona is another example. Beautiful model, but not really very good as a Technic set. But you can bet that quite a few people will buy it who have never bought a LEGO set before. So it has the potential to generate good publicity and have people consider buying it. There's very little negative (to LEGO as a company) from doing it.
  16. Ha! Fair enough. But as that's what I'm looking for and figured many others are at the moment, it's still epic.
  17. The knowledge is epic! There was a printed dark tan leg that looked similar to the Viking Series 4 CMF legs, but definitely different. I wanted this for castle stuff, so didn't get it.
  18. Everything in the photo above is from the BAM tower. Is the middle one the red cape one you mentioned?
  19. To me, this is likely the point of Ideas. To get people who aren't into LEGO, into LEGO. Like many of you, I was gutted that they didn't pick Land Ahoy! It seemed perfect for Ideas. The BTS set from the last round will be interesting when it releases, given that they've now split up. Will they disappear and be rapidly replaced with the next manufactured band? Maybe get LEGO to think twice about new pop culture things, compared to hitting nostalgia vibes instead.
  20. I was able to get to the Boston Northshore Mall LEGO Store this morning. Some interesting elements in the BAM tower. All loose in the tower. None of the new Black Falcon chainmail torsos, and I could only find three BF shields. But a crown head piece with hair, and some good medieval/Roman torsos, legs, and dresses. Plus Sherlock Holmes from Series 5!
  21. No. A sealed box usually had all the figures in a specific order, so you could probably tell that way, but there were reports of dinner boxes being mixed, so it wasn't reliable. Other than each side of the box contained a complete set. Hopefully they do some kind of identifying mark in the future, perhaps as a response to all the opened boxes that plagued Vidiyo series 1, but I doubt it.
  22. I'm fairly sure that the storage space for sets supporting lego.com is just one of the web team's spare rooms. Of the 12 things on my wish list, 6 are out of stock. And they're not all from the year either. But most of the sets are available in-store. It certainly feels like they prioritize keeping store stock levels up (both brand stores and partners). Not great for the brand to see half-empty shelves.
  23. I prefer a lamb over a sheep - at least until lambs are available on Bricks & Pieces. I have a flock of sheep, but no lambs (and don't really want to pay crazy prices for the City Farm just to get one. But remember, CMFs are moving to blind boxes soon, which is going to make finding the figure that you want that much harder. Still better than a $400 castle though.
  24. I've always found them to be super helpful. I've called ahead several times to see if they have things in stock. If it's out of stock, they can usually tell me when they're getting it (including when new BAM figures are coming), and if sets are in stock, they've put them aside for me, ready for when I've come in (as long as it's within a couple of hours). They're really nice. Last time I went (about a month or so ago), they still had pre-made BAM figures, which I think is much better/quicker if you want that figure, but obviously less useful if you want to mix and match stuff.
