    My Black Friday order was also back ordered, but arrived earlier this week. Interestingly, it had the 'do not put in shelves before' dickey on it, suffering it was part of the very original production. I wonder why it was backordered then?

    I have four orders from November 18 that are all showing as still in warehouse. I was hoping that they'd be here by Christmas. They usually fulfill the orders already placed during the shut down, don't they?

    I could imagine then selling out of the Police station first as other retailers had it in a 25% off sale recently, but only LEGO discounted Assembly Square. They may have stocked accordingly?

    Very interesting. And here's me not having even bought Rivendell yet. Better get to that quickly.

    On a larger screen you can see printing on Fang. Might be controversial, but I don't like it at all. The shape of the mould looks really basic and blocky in comparison with more modern animals. Part of that is likely the size, and trying to keep within a one stud width for the body, but it makes it look really basic in my eyes. And then the ears look like a teddy bear's and not at all floppy like they should be. Maybe the angle and lighting aren't showing it off very well. It's a shame, because it might be the best Hagrid's hut they've done!

    Delightfully cruel. I think I need to look at the Potter sets on a larger screen. Small pictures on my phone left me underwhelmed. Fang looks unprinted, but that can't be right. The forest really feels like it needs another creature (or two)? Maybe that's asking a lot at the price point?

    The orrery is superb! Really looking forward to that. The others look great, but probably not for me. Excited to see the rest of the line up now.

    Not strictly on topic, but also sort of is. @Berthil has made a simply marvelous creation of an older set (not a castle one though) and reimaginging it as a modern castle set. Sort of.     21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay is so good, because of the detail, but also the transformation to a shipwrecked island (bringing back wonderful memories of 6270 Forbidden Island). But I had to vote for 6274 Caribbean Clipper which was my only pirates ship as a child, and I loved it. And then my children love playing with it to, so it continues to win!

    As much as I don't want every set to be a super expensive one, it feels a bit of a shame that this is two buildings for $80, suggesting that the tower may not be as detailed as the last one and the inn will be pretty small too. Still, might have some good elements to MOC something nicely detailed.

    I built Bolt Build's alt-build of Hogwarts into a 32x48 University, and started by dumping all the pieces into a playmat bag. It made me realize that my old school technique of rummaging through the parts bin didn't really work, so I did a combination of rummaging and sorting as I went. If memory serves, it uses over 5000 pieces from the set, so a lot to get through. Looks great at the end though. But yes, you really appreciate new sets with small numbers of parts in numbered bags!

    And it's supposed to be a Dec 1 release, right? So this Friday?

    I wonder if they saw the feedback from the first round of these nostalgia sets, and focused on people liking the things that remained from the originals - the black trees, metal detectors, trans-yellow canopies - and decided to double down on getting as close as they could to the originals with current elements, resulting in Eldorado Fortress and Majisto's workshop. And in doing so missed that people actually liked the modern interpretations of the classic sets, not something that tries to replicate them exactly. I hope that for any future rounds they have time to reflect on the current feedback and go back to that sweet spot in the middle. (Although, in fairness to the LEGO designers, there will then likely be a chorus of people complaining that they changed the old sets, so it's really hard to win over everyone with nostalgia-based sets).

    I'd love a decent sized Blacktron set to match Galaxy Explorer. I have no real interest in Star Wars, but recently saw a 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe going really cheap and bought it thinking it could be used to kick start a decent Blacktron flagship.

    Not saying you're wrong, but in the graphic design world, this statement means everyone has down a shot...

    Being in separate bags also doesn't help with efficient packing and takes up a lot of space. I think this will be even more so when paper bags get fully rolled out, but I've only had a couple of small paper bags from smaller sets, so don't know what they're like with larger collections of parts.

    Disappointed in it, honestly. I hope Knuckles gets released in another set.

    I'm from the UK originally, so very, very familiar with Argos! Agreed that many sets are now likely sold online/distant, and yet I still think has something to do with it. Although they did reduce some of the box sizes a few years ago, didn't they? And there are plenty of companies that actively try to reduce package sizing to save on shipping and storage costs. But I suspect there is a balance for product perception still.

    For storage of backlogs it would be great if they did this too! I've always thought they did it for the experience of spending a lot of money on something large, rather than being put off spending loads on a relatively small, and therefore immediately less impressive box. Shelf presence can have a decent impact on purchasing.

    I'm currently building the Ghostbusters Headquarters, and I have been really surprised at how boring and repetitive done if it is to build. It's making me appreciate the elegance of modular buildings so much more, where they can focus on the essence of something, and do it once or twice, whereas things like the Ghostbusters HQ that have to reflect a real location, are forced into the repetition. On the other hand, the larger space it generated means some of the elements are really very neat and really cool, so overall it's good and I'm pleased to have it. Especially as I got it, the Ecto-1 Ideas set, the Creator Expert Houses of Parliament, and half a Sopwith Camel for $100!

    I caved and got a second on sale. Poor form by LEGO that it's only the US. Does that suggest is not been selling well in the US, or that they just feel more compelled to entice purchases in the US?

    Rivendell is now available to buy from Target as well, which increases the likelihood of discounts in the US at some point. Hopefully.
