  1. Fantastic! I was a huge fan of both the Adventurers and Pharaoh's Quest lines and I like how this incorporates elements from both
  2. Thanks guys! Will definitely order the builder's guide book and I've also found a few YouTube videos about suspension and gearboxes that have simplified them for me which have been useful.
  3. Hi guys, I'm mainly a system builder but I'm interested in starting with Technic - I've only built a few sets (the blue buggy and small crane from the 2000s, and one of the early Bionicle beast sets which was made with Technic parts) so my experience so far is mainly limited to using Technic parts in system-scale MOCs for structure and mechanisms etc. Are there any short courses, social media pages (i.e. something like tipsandbricks on Instagram), videos or other content that would be useful?
  4. I really hope we get some generic clones in the style of the commander from the gunship set in the forthcoming year. Do we have any reliable predictions for January or will they not be for another few months? (sorry, I don't follow this community as much now)
  5. Fantastic MOC! I love the attention to detail
  6. Absolutely incredible!
  7. Looks fantastic - getting the measurements right must have been a pain! To reinforce structure in the wings, maybe you could use some technic beams (like in the middle wing of the UCS imperial shuttle)?
  8. Seen the pictures of the new figures - not really keen on the gold figures? They're alright but I would have preferred inclusions of older figures like with the SW wave in 2019; the only reason I can think of for not doing this is the necessity to bring back discontinued molds (not sure if Harry's original hair piece is discontinued but I don't think Hermoine's has been in a set for at least a decade. Ron's is still in production though) but if that was the case then I think figures with the newer molds but detailing in the style of classic figures would have been a good middle ground, if that makes sense. The cat Hermione figure is fantastic, but seems weird to me that Lego went out of their way to make a new mold for something seen in the film for a couple of seconds whilst sacrificing on detail on more important characters in other sets (not printing Bellatrix's legs/reusing the Mantis head, using Generic Villain face #14 for Lucius). I'm guessing that the lower part count allows a greater budget for the figures but several of the figures in the Burrow still seem lazy to me, especially considering these sacrifices weren't made in the 2010 wave.
  9. I think Raimi sets are unlikely but I wouldn't rule them out completely - partly due to optimism (the original sets are incredibly nostalgic for me) but also they released 2 ASM2 figures (the Electro polybag and an SDCC Spider-Man if I remember correctly) and unless this rumour was debunked, Maguire will be returning in Dr Strange 2 so a couple of legacy sets might be possible, definitely not this year though
  10. Cool model! I like the gold detailing and I think this would sell well as a set so I will support it
  11. Thanks! Yeah it's a cool figure, I like having rarities like this and the chrome Darth Vader in my collection
  12. What is the oldest set you have seen in a shop, relative to the time you saw it (i.e. how long had it been discontinued for at the time)? For me, the only one that comes to mind is the Toy Story Buzz Lightyear ship, which I believe my local W H Smith sold until around 2015. I've probably seen older sets than that in shops at some point though; I think I remember seeing sets with 4-digit codes around 2017/18 but don't remember any further details. Also, I remember my local Toys R Us stocked the 2006 X-wing until around 2011 (before the next one came out), but I'm not sure if that was discontinued or if it just had a longer run (I don't remember any other shops stocking it). Note: if there are already any threads for this topic (I don't think there are any active ones) feel free to link to those as well!
  13. I love it! The details are really cool, reminds me of some of the antique shops near me
  14. These are fantastic! Very distinct from other MOCs of these ships
  15. Hello, I have a lego pirates imperial soldier figure which I cannot find on bricklink, brickset or any price guide (and that includes the ones that include the rarest of figures, like 'figure with only 50 copies which was given away at a lego convention in Romania in 2006'), and I think it may be worth money. Will upload a picture once I find it but basically it's this figure: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=pi004b#T=S&O={"iconly":0} except with a tricorn and possibly slightly different head, and with the lego logo on his back. It seems to have been a keychain as it does not come apart. He used to have the bottom of a plastic key chain (like this: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?G=3977c&name=Legoland Ambassador Key Chain - plastic chain, with stripes on back&category=[Key Chain][Legoland Parks]#T=S&O={"iconly":0}) on his head but this broke off years ago, probably still in a box somewhere! I think I got the figure at a young age in a box of second-hand lego my mum got me from a co-worker (mostly 90s stuff). If anyone can give a link to a bricklink page or any sources about the figure, please let me know. Would love to know if it's valuable/how it was initially sold. If there's a different forum for which this may be more appropriate please let me know.
  16. This is incredible! Really unique array of colours and strong Orient Express vibes. I'm going to create an Ideas account (haven't used it since it was Cuusoo) to support :)
  17. I'm interested in rare/uncommon minifigures and I came across this guy on Bricklink: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=ovr023&name=Overalls Gray on Orange with Pocket, Gray Legs, White Cap - Glued&category=[Town][Classic Town]#T=S&O={"iconly":0} Only produced for a factory display in Germany, only got out because they fell out from under the acrylic glass on occasion. There aren't any available but I can only imagine how much they're worth. I'm looking to broaden my knowledge: what are some similarly rare/expensive figures/figure parts? Not talking about examples like the 2013 Captain Rex, 2016 Thrawn etc that have shot up in value now but were not difficult to acquire when available (although figures from sets aren't completely excluded if older, limited distribution etc)
  18. This was really helpful, thank you!
  19. I recently installed LDD and Stud.io on my new laptop and ran into issues with both - only 4.3 would install from the lego site so I tried downloading from another source, but 4.3 (I believe this was up to date around 2012) is the only version I could download. On Stud.io, I had issues with connection - plates often do not align without making sure they slide completely down the studs without clashing which is annoying, and minifig arms do not connect to torsos without being aligned perfectly with the hinge tool. I believe this has only been an issue since the most recent update. Any help with either issue would be appreciated!
  20. I'm not up to date on what sets are rumoured for next year (apart from the confirmed classroom sets) - are we expecting a set of the second task from GoF? The carriage set from last year came with Fleur's sister with an alternate sleeping face so I thought that was a hint but I haven't heard anything else about that. Looking forward to seeing sets based on the last 2 films as we've only had 2 before (in 2011) and both were fairly loosely connected to the film
  21. I decided to remake 2 sets from the 2004 Harry Potter line for the Prisoner of Azkaban as modern-day sets. 4750 Draco's Encounter should have Buckbeak as well but neither of the Buckbeak figures are on Studio and even though I kept the figure selection the same, I would also add Lupin to 4751 Harry and the Marauder's Map and maybe Hagrid to 4750. I might upload the instructions to the bricklink gallery as I think all of these parts are in existing colours except the flower piece used on the lock in the 4751 remake - not sure how to replace that. Hope you like these, both were very quick builds so I'll probably make a few more like this (maybe 4752 Sirius Black's Escape next, after that I might do some of the earlier sets)
  22. I'm a bit too young to remember Adventurers, those sets do look cool though. However I am old enough to remember Pharaoh's Quest and a few of those sets were fantastic - I had the biplane which had some rare dark red parts, great figures and was an absolute steal at only £15, and the largest set (was on sale in TK Maxx for £50 so my mum got it for me for christmas) which was easily one of the best sets of the time imo. That theme had a lot of potential and I'd love to see another theme like it following the adventurers format of having different locations each year
  23. For those unaware, the Mandela Effect is the concept of false memories of the past - it takes its name from the most famous example of this, which is that many remember Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 80s when he actually died in 2013. Usually the Mandela Effect refers to a shared false memory across a group of people. Do you have any false memories involving Lego? Maybe you remember a set or part being released which doesn't exist, a set or figures having different features or you remember a set being released in a different year? Post your examples below, there are bound to be some given that most of us discover Lego at a young age when our memory is just developing. I have 1 example of this: I'm sure I remember a small adventurers set (https://letsbuilditagain.com/instructions/5938/) having a feature where the skeleton pops up when the tomb is opened - I've never owned this set but I'm sure I can remember a picture of a box like this one where the skeleton is popping up from the trap door. This feature was in a studios set I think and also a Harry Potter set a few years later so maybe that's why.
  24. Would love to see this colour make a comeback and be used on more pieces, it would work really well on X wings and snowspeeders (I think the imperial shuttle should stay white though tbh)
  25. True, EU sets have always been a bit of a gamble. I remember those comic packs hasbro did in 2007/8 which ended up warming the shelves in Toys R Us for years (although I got a few for £10 or less when I was younger and now they're worth £40+ each). Not sure how the last interceptor sold but it was a tie-in to a TV show which got a pretty bad reception iirc and isn't talked about much now so maybe sales weren't great and that's why Lego are reluctant to put another one out. I saw your MOC thread btw, the bomber is fantastic! Love the rebel trooper battle pack as well, the original was my first ever SW set (I believe I got it for £8 from Asda in Cambridge, got the stormtrooper one shortly after) That would probably work for AOTC Obi, not sure about ROTS though - I think reddish brown would be best, or maybe the light brown that's usually used as a skin tone A few very controversial ones here! Firestar does have a good range Yes, the X-wing, Kylo Ren shuttle and Falcon were all fantastic. Could have used more small sets but there were some great ones there
