  1. Really? If so why did they offer the TIE bomber as one of the UCS options recently? If they said it a while back my guess is that it wouldn't apply today - the last TIE bomber came out before all of Lego's target demographic were born - but I could see why they're hesitant as I don't think other TIE variations (defender, crawler) sold particularly well and that could also explain why we haven't seen an OT interceptor since 06
  2. I like it myself but it's definitely one of the weaker UCS sets - compared to the B-wing from the previous year it doesn't hold up as well imo. The worst part if the lack of a tilt down the front, which is understandable in playsets as it's difficult to do with good stability as minifig scale, but should have been essential in a UCS set. I like the Anakin podracer as well, but overall there were a lot of missed opportunities there - especially with the lack of AOTC sets I had the 2007 set as a kid and for all of it's flaws, the wings are the closest Lego has come to accurate so far and I think that the next version should be at that scale, maybe for £40 and throw in Watto, Qui-Gon and Anakin Yes, definitely. 2 more possibly unpopular opinions of mine related to those 2 sets are 1. the wedges at the front of the A-wing detract from an otherwise great model and 2. Lego should have made new quarter-dome pieces for the UCS TIE, the exterior is as good as they could get with the pieces they had but I don't think that model is going to age well
  3. Definitely agree with this Yes, also before they were introduced a lot of sets would have a significant portion of the part count dedicated to mechanisms to shoot flick-fires - now this isn't necessary so the parts can be used for detail etc Agreed
  4. Just looked this up - yeah, that seems very unlikely now. Shame really, but I'm glad we got a good slave Leia and Oola figure before that was announced I didn't mean UCS, I'd always just assumed that set was aimed more at adult fans/collectors due to the price point - £170, in 2009 the most expensive a playset would get was probably £90
  5. What are some of your unpopular or niche opinions related to LSW? I'll start off with a few: - The 2009 AT-OT/dropship set is overrated - it's not a bad set but hasn't aged nearly as well as other sets from around that time, and parts of the AT-OT look like a MOC rather than a collectors' set. It could definitely use a remake. - I don't know why Lego makes Obi-Wan ginger - in 2005 they had less colours to choose from so it made more sense, but now it seems odd that every prequel Obi-Wan is ginger and Anakin is either dark or normal brown when they have a very similar hair colour in the film and honestly reddish brown would probably work for both. Similarly, I'm not sure why Luke's hair changes from tan to dark tan depending on which set he's in when the darker colour is clearly more accurate. - Assault on Hoth would be a good set if it were just the main gate, maybe with a Tauntaun bay and a few other parts for £90. - Midi-scale sets were a real missed opportunity and should make a comeback with figures to add more value. - More sets should include obscure characters - when I was a kid there were a lot of obscure characters in action figure form and I'd love to see more in Lego sets - the Neimodian warrior and Colonel Cracken from 2014 were great inclusions and I'd love to see a D2C Jabba's palace with some obscure characters in that. - In addition to that, a lot of people think Lego won't make another Slave Leia or Oola figure, but I think this is possible but probably only in a D2C barge or palace. Add your's below!
  6. Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion but I'd love to see midi-scale sets return - only 2 were made and the last one was a decade ago. My guess is that they didn't sell very well due to the lack of figures, but if, say, 2 or 3 relevant figures were included with each one this could be avoided - maybe with a mini display stand as well so they're almost like affordable, entry-level UCS sets
