LEGO Ninjago 2021
Modal replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Yea it definitely gives it more of a vibe of two towers rather than just one big building. It would have been boring to have one structurally the same as Ninjago City Ok I’m so confused on how we’re describing this. When we discuss the Docks we mean the back of docks, as Lego has advertised the set with City on the left, Docks to its right but having its back faced forward. Gardens would then be connected to the right of the Docks. Both City and Gardens would have it’s front be the angle that each shows on their box -

I'm confused, isn't it an 'end module' still if its on the right end? -

So having them lined up as City - Docks - Gardens, I think the right side of the back of the docks has a few stairs that lead up. I wonder if it will look better for that to connect to the garden temple or straight to the 32x32 baseplate. Also wondering how I can incorporate the Spring Lantern Fair. I’m going to set it up on a bookcase so want to keep it entire horizontal. -

Yea I’m not seeing how someone is supposed to get up to these upper levels lol -

Yay finally! Definitely predicted the other baseplate to be separate. Kinda wish they were more connected but still it looks fantastic! Glad there’s more water in the back @Guyon2002 what were you right about with the walk away? Don’t remember what you said EDIT: Wait a sec, is the “expand your Ninjago gardens” only reference to the extra baseplate? -

Really? I’m having a hard time envisioning this. I think something needs to be on the right side to help balance out the height difference between city and docks. And having the right side of the set be the lower garden part would match well with the dock. And then the rest of the set on the right side would be basically equivalent in size to the city on the left. Curious to see how Lego will advertise it with the other sets. -

Interesting, I feel like they wouldn’t advertise that unless they plan on continuing the line. Wouldn’t make as much sense to mention that if the only way to expand would be getting retired sets -

Oh I was hoping they would just give us a sneak peak of the box. I just want to see the back side and how it looks connected to the other two sets so I can finally feel ready to open and build the two sets I have waiting in my closet :D -

Awesome! Do you think we will get pics today? Also, are we all in agreement that this is built ideally to be to the right of the docks? It seems too perfect to be anything but the right corner piece of the 3-set build. -
Does anyone have a closer pic to the back of the box where it has each layer separated? I don’t think I care for the interior too much...

So we’re one week away from the VIP release! Man I wish we could get a good picture of the back side. I really want to see the actual garden part of the Gardens. -
Do we have a date for the January Ideas group announcement?

I can already hear the screams of Avatar (TLA) fans when Appa doesn’t get approved. Personally, would love to see Classic Castle and Venice get approved, but I doubt either will make it.

Despite the “A” in AFOL, many of them seem to act like children with this controversy ? if you can even call it that. Both sets are great and yea it’s a little different but nothing that deserves more than like a single post with some disappointment.

I’m used to waiting for years for games/movies/books so LEGO is far superior in that regard. Feels nice to get things announced/leaked so close to release. -

It’s mind blowing to me in almost 10 days the Gardens set is going to be out on shelves. I feel like it’s still like a year out for some reason -
I personally really like the Blacksmith set still. It has a bit of a World of Warcraft-fantasy vibe that I really dig. There are a ton of castle submissions coming to Ideas now, maybe more than any other type of set. I’m hoping we get more sets like this in the future! I would die for Fantasy modulars

Man seeing all the sets, Lego Ideas is the coolest theme to come out of Lego in the past decade or so. The Tree House single handedly got me back into Lego. It's also a bit funny how little changed between the Old Fishing Store original to retail. It was a well made set from the start. I honestly don't think the Medieval Blacksmith original is at that par, personally.

I find it strange there is zero information on who built Ninjago City Docks. There’s no designer video either. Was it because of the failed movie that they just kinda threw the set out there without wanting to make a scene about it? So strange -

Any ideas who designed the garden? Also do we know who designed the docks? I can’t find any information on it. -
I think someone mentioned Wed Talbott?
-
Seriously how is this the same price as the Old Fishing Store? That one is significantly bigger than what we’re seeing here.
-
I personally really like the aesthetic of it. I do wish they went with a more expensive and detailed version, but I also understand why they did it. Hope there’s some kind of cozy interior, this will look great with a lighting kit.

I’m assuming the people complaining about the new blacksmith are the same that complained about barracuda bay? I think some people really want this darker vibe, but we know LEGO is always going to brighten it up a bit I will admit though that this one is probably the most different between original-final than I’ve seen of an Ideas set so far.

Yea exactly my thoughts. And if you look back at the initial leaked image, the really blurry one, you can see even more green in that middle area
