Out of this wave I will buy Hogsmeade and then quickly erase the rest out of my mind and hope they come to their senses in 2022 Gonna spend more time making my own MOCs this year I think.
-
The Harry + Hermione thing is obviously aiming to be similar to the Mickey + Minnie Buildable set.
-
I wish the best set of the year (Hogsmeade) could have been bumped up to the $120 set. Would love to have more of that set.
-
I love that the one redeeming quality people seem to mention is that it’s SO bad that LEGO is almost forcing you to save money as if it’s not possible to just not buy a set of a good wave.
-
I’m fine with it too because I think I’m going to spend my entire budget on the BrickLink sets lol at least some people aren’t letting me down this year
-
Honestly I think LEGO is seeing how popular sets like the Bonsai Tree and Flowers and Hedwig are and are planning accordingly. It’s just how many of these kind of sets do we need before it’s stale
-
LMAO it’s like they’re trying to make the most unappealing 2021 wave they possibly can for me

Well if it makes any difference, I’m speaking from what I’ve talked about with my managers at the LEGO store, which are pretty adamant that the theme is impossible to describe/sell to kids. We hardly sell any Yea I’m being overly dramatic but hey it comes from my passion for the series. I guess we’ll find out how it does soon enough. I’d put money down on a $250 chess set not being popular with the mainstream crowd.

Are we watching the same LEGO company? I hate to be cynical, and I love LEGO, but let’s not pretend that they haven’t made some stupid bone-headed decisions in the past. Hell even now we have ideas like Vidiyo and Hidden side, both complete flops. it’s just so sad to see HP, a theme that has since now been on a hot streak, take a complete other direction that isn’t satisfying anyone. The best thing that can happen imo is that this year flops terribly so they realize what was already working I can already feel the frustration trying to explain to kids at the LEGO store how there are two different Hogwarts styles now and why half of the sets look completely different from what is there now.

As someone who got into chess earlier this year, I think I can speak confidently than no one would buy a LEGO chess set as their “main” chess set. It will look like a toy, not a well crafted and wooden board that can help accent a furniture piece or room. And even then DOUBLE the price of a professional chess board.

I love when people told us to not sink TOO low in our predictions, and then it turns out to be just as low as we predicted 😂
-
Wow so we were right about the chess set. Absolutely terrible. No idea what the Lego HP team was smoking this year

There is 0% chance Questbuilder or Ruined House are going to make it through. I can possible see Studgate Train Station but that will be the biggest. I just hope the castle and windmill make it, I will preorder those in a heartbeat, as I’m sure many others will do as well.
-
So now that they have to string the HP theme out for the foreseeable future I’m imagining this bs with Gringotts is going to happen more often. We’re going to have to wait needless years to get the sets we want so they can string it out like Star Wars
-
Is it? Seems like a bit of a reach, especially because what they’re doing already is clearly working. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. I won’t be buying them though
-
Oh hell yea, the Mountain Windmill was picked for that program! Anyone know how much these sets cost typically?
-
Yea I wanted to blur the line of sarcasm/serious - seems like it worked
-
Hoping to see the $250 August Wave set as well as some hints on the 2022 wave. Can’t wait!
-
Wow that’s insane, 3 years?! Absolutely ridiculous
-
No, I can try but instagram notifies you if they've seen the message so he definitely has. I also commented on his latest post and he liked every message except mine I think he just want to avoid the question of whether he will publish instructions.
-
I dm'd him on Instagram and he's seen it but hasn't responded. A few weeks ago he would tell people he's planning on selling them in the future, but now I'm not getting a response. Wish people would at least be a little transparent. Don't want to bother anyone but I just see so many cool ideas and would love to check out stud.io file or instructions. I down to pay for them as well!

Can you all stop making this thread hot every day with the same cyclical conversation you get me a little bit excited every time I see the thread updated

What exactly are the rules regarding instructions for Ideas submissions? I've been annoyed lately, as I've wanted to build some of the Ideas sets that have reached 10k and been not approved, but a lot of the creators won't respond to the question of selling instructions. Are they not allowed to even when their sets are no approved? Seems a bit ridiculous

Changing the subject slightly, but I eventually did get that LEGO retail job! Yesterday was my second day, and man it’s been so fun hyping up the HP sets for kids and their parents. One even asked where Gringotts was Once I explained to one of the kids how all the Hogwarts sets connect, even the Room of Requirement, he was so blown away! Was so cute. Him and his dad are reading each book followed by the movie and then building the sets for that movie. What a childhood that kid is having
