Because building in real life is totally different than building digitally. It will be hard to compare a digital build with an actual build. Basically what @2GodBDGlory mentioned. You cannot know for certain that something will work in a real build. And another reason is that we want to see real MOCs. If we would allow digital builds, there's a fair chance that the majority of the builds would be digital.

I have been going through some of the topics and wow! This contest will results in some very nice entries!! Can't wait to see more.

That's an interesting comment. It's not necessary to fill every gap. You can do this if you feel it's necessary, but the model can have gaps, as most Technic models have.
