That is exactly what I had in mind! However, looking at the video, I do think it will be very complicated. Maybe too complicated for a contest. -

Maybe I wasn’t clear, but by chassis I mean the whole car except bodywork. So the rear and front suspension, engine, gearbox etc. Like example I posted, created by Nathanael. Except his version did have a body, albeit a very simple one. I have been thinking about a “no panel” car contest too, so maybe we could combine them. Build a modular car without panels. -

I have never spoken of GBC without Bodywork. You might want to read my posts again We're talking about two different things here. -

Please read back some of the previous posts. In short; we need a captain for the contest. I can add you to a PM conversation. -

Okay, let me tell what has been in my mind for a couple of years. I would love to do a "Modular Car Contest". Build a car that consists of several subassemblies which can be joined together to form a car. Inpiration for such a contest comes from the modular supercar Nathanael built a decade ago. https://brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=339403 http://www.technicbricks.com/2010/10/modular-concept-car-from-nk-evolves.html I was thinking about doing only the chassis, so can do another contest to build the bodywork on the winner's chassis in a future contest. Another option would be to include the bodywork, but do a "no-panel" bodywork. Modular sub-assemblies can only be joined using these (possibly only in red, so it's clear these are used to disassemble the modules): You can get something like this: My main concern is that this is a fairly complicated contest. On the other hand; we have our share of less complicated contests. Thoughts? PS I will have a decent 1st prize for such a contest. -
How about no? Let stick to our 18+ policy, to prevent issues with Youtube or whatever other agency/institution.

Hi, Sorry for making jokes earlier. We do like to prank sometimes. You don't need to buy and expensive set.....a cheap one will do. Ohhh, here I go again. Ignore that last part In all seriousness; if all our members were as polite as you and used proper punctuation like you do, the world would be a better place. So feel free to stay and let's not talk about the number which should not be mentioned again Enjoy!

Usually you buy a very expensive LEGO set for a staff member.

R5D5 building instructions
Jim replied to Coder Shah's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Noooo man, I haven't built it. I have such a long backlog of sets. I have a Sian chassis sitting for over a couple of months now. I am testing SBrick Light as we speak, so I am into LEGO today. But I have been working on some programming side projects, so I have made little time for LEGO. I even have an unopened Liebherr crane, which also deserves some love :D -
That's a +1 from me. Your mini build is excellent!

Again, nice work. You are really getting the best out of the set. "Good busy" as we say in The Netherlands -
Indeed!! Maybe I should change the title of the topic

I would be hard pressed to find a lot of people in this forum wanting to skip the SMF models. -

Scale Modeling Forum future?
Jim replied to Milan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Every topic that get's featured (this can only be done by certain members) will hit the frontpage. Apparently, we (Technic people) don't feature topics enough. I will try to be a bit more active in the Technic forum, so I will try to feature more topics. The fun part is....now that we will be merging the forums, it really doesn't matter that much anymore. They are worth posting here and whether they get the tag [SMF] or [MOC] doesn't really matter (imho). -

It should be a proper scale model. Definition is in the index of the SMF if I am not mistaken. I also approve of moving SMF back into Technic -

Whatever happens, GBC will have its own contest. -

I have been thinking about this. Instead of remaking an old studded Technic model, simply remake ANY studded LEGO set. Would be cool to have contestants display the old and new model together, but I am not sure that should be a requirement. If we go for a no-wheel contest, it will be a no-vehicle contest, so no helicopters, boats, etc either. -

That has basically been my idea for every contest since TC2 -
BlueBrixx Servomotor: any good?
Jim replied to BJL's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, Congrats on your first post hehe. I have zero experience with BlueBrixx, so I won't be able to help you. Maybe other members will chime in. I do wonder wether you really need RTC. A geared down solution with an M motor doesn't suffice?
