I don't think the gearbox issues are a reason not to buy it. Like you said; he will still adore it. But it still is a lot of money, I know. -

Good question. I'd say look at the bag count and make an estimate. I am not sure. 11 bags versus 16 bags. I'd say around 1100 parts, but this is a simplified calculation (27 bags -> 2700 parts). -

So, it's a great set after all. Now run to the store guys From a business point of view, I can perfectly understand this statement from TLG. From any other point of view this is surprising. From the press release: Both the performance and the sportiness of the original have been realistically reproduced in various technical features on the LEGO model. One particular highlight is the fully functional Porsche double-clutch transmission with four gears and gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. No they haven't. Both the performance and the sportiness of the original have been kind of reproduced in various technical features on the LEGO model. One particular highlight is the more or less functional Porsche double-clutch transmission with four gears and gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. I didn't think the gearbox issue was a reason not to buy it, but this statements seems to add oil to the fire. In other words; it might make things worse, instead of better. -

Yup. Ahh well, it's not that I didn't expect my code not to be used. And I didn't expect it to be very special. -

K8G6H7MJ Invalid code, please try again. The code should have 8 digits (xxxxxxxx). Please note that your code can only be used twice. I reckon someone used my code....twice At first I blurred it, but I thought that there wouldn't be a limit. Okay, thanks. Luckily I didn't miss a lot. -

Thanks Jeroen! Actually it hinges on two pivots (more or less). It hinges on the end, and it has an additional connection/hinge to the chassis at the middle of the door. I am not in the opportunity to take picture right now. -

I am not totally sure what you mean? Care to elaborate? The front hubs don't connect to the driveshaft themselves.... so? You are probably the most enthusiast member of this forum Thanks for the compliment! Means a lot coming from you! Thanks. After Max Verstappen won the F1, I immediately started building my 42000. I didn't finish however. So at the moment I can't post a comparison picture, sorry. -

Thanks Erik! Photos are the result of using a (cheap) macro lens and some post processing to give them a fine polish Regarding separating the book; it would have been an option to include a separate book for the different boxes (and one coffee table book). This would allow you to build it together with your kid (or a friend). -

Thanks! I think your statement/conclusion (which I used in my review) fits the bill perfectly. Well, you should try to build your own supercar....o wait.... (reminds me I still need to finish your Ferrari....your previous Ferrari) -

Jim replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Okay, I must have missed that one I have been preoccupied with the Porsche, so I kind of neglected this topic, but I like to comment that this set is probably one of the best looking Technic sets ever, combined with lots of Technical functions. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully we will receive this set for a review. If we do, I don't expect to receive it before mid July. -
