  1. I love the construction scene, very convincing and I wonder what they're building. Can't wait to see how this pans out, great beginning.
  2. From what I can see it seems very interesting, but I can barely see the pictures, it would help if you should post/give a link to bigger ones. I would get rid of the lower yellow stripe (I've never seen that before) and make the hull entirely black, but sometimes too much black doesn't look good in LEGO so you should try it out. Good luck!
  3. Very nice, the dead trees give it a spooky look and the dragon's nest up top is a very cool idea, gives the moc a purpose besides wizard's house. Great job!
  4. Great systemized recreation of the original fort, I love it, especially the classic studs up build + interiors. I liked the style of the "virtual tour," reminds me of those text games where it gives you choices that lead to one another, and then usually to failure. Good luck in the contest!
  5. And they keep expanding! They must be procreating. De Gothia those are some great armies. I prefer multiple smaller factions (respectively - these are still pretty big to me) over one huge army, so this is perfect in my eyes. Are you going to MOC something for every faction? Because you've done quite a few already. I have no castle army to speak of besides what came in MMV/Kings Castle, so I'll leave that to y'all.
  6. The HMS Sea Lion was the non-US name of the original flagship, I think it sounds good if a bit corny. The other "classic" names are Dark Shark, Sea Vulture, Black Skull, Sea Hawk. I like HMS Imperial Shark, has a nice ring to it. The ship is supposed to be a flagship, hence 'Imperial Flagship'. However realistically a flagship (in the Napoleonic Wars) would've had 100 -136 (Santissma Trinidad, if I remember) guns, and 10210 mounts only eight at maximum. So I guess this ship is based on the large ship-of-the-lines, but this just goes back to the thread debating the scale of LEGO System.
  7. And not affected by the Stormtrooper effect either. Great pic!
  8. That's still pretty impressive, how did you get so many? Are you like a rowboat collector or what? Put a cannon in each one and you'll kick some serious megablocks. As for myself I have: 1 BSB 1 trading ship from ITP 2 rowboats Yes, I want need to get a lot more, but other projects are getting in the way. Wimpy fleets on!
  9. Well done everyone! Some great creative criticisms.
  10. This should be called the great wall of soldiers, that's one great army you got there. I agree. And the large amounts of green are very striking.
  11. Watch it doesn't fall off that desk. Another stunning update, the angle in the middle adds a lot to the rickety-ness and charm. The little working bits like the shutters are nice as well. I have one question though, isn't the scale a little big? It certainly adds to the impressive factor but it looks almost larger than Fabuland scale. But I'm just quibbling here, it's great, great work.
  12. Great job, even with all the landscaping it still looks very classic. There are a few things I would add, but these are only suggestions. 1) More cannons. Maybe two more? 2) For a "new" battery, it looks too ramshackle, maybe you could finish off the ruined buildings. I like it though, it really feels like a shore battery and if De Ruyter wasn't salvaged for this you should take some pics together. Edit: Your painted figs look great .
  13. Thanks for the brilliant review! I enjoyed all of the movie comparisons, and the "movie poster" is my desktop now. Makes me want to get it now . . .
  14. Pirates! Smiley imported from Pirates Forum, get yours today. I'm interested in the Napoleonic Era, Golden Age of Piracy, tall ships, so this + LEGO = perfect for me. After pirates would be: Castle, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Town, Sci-Fi. Really though I love (almost) every general theme LEGO's ever produced, but for time and money's sake I try to choose a couple.
  15. The photography is superb, very crisp and the bright colors fit the atmosphere of the scene very well. Great job!
  16. I think a whipstick is just a long wood beam (a tiller) attached to the rudder, but since you're using quarter rudders it doesn't matter. Your ship's design is very interesting and the dark red is beautiful. I'm looking forward to seeing how you build the back end. Keep it up .
  17. I don't really know what to say, it's just so perfect. You're setting a really high standard.
  18. Captain Red Beard (from Brickset). In my avatar as well. He's a total badass.
  19. Figs look great as usual. My favorite part is the dead cavalryman whose comrade is picking up his hat, for lego people it's pretty touching. Great job .
  20. My real number is a whole lotta nothing, so I took off the first digit and got this : (from Peeron)
  21. That's just amazing! The huge scale of the stairs, buildings, statues, columns, etc. really create the "might of Rome" feeling. I agree, the theatre is the best part. I wonder if there's an interior? Also it's amazing how detailed it is, especially for such a large MOC. Awesome. EDIT: Khorne I was thinking about the song from Gladiator Oops.
  22. There's Voodoo Hands huge forts in this thread, and this one on BrickHorizon. Hope that helps. Coming up with your own ideas/designs is though is really 99% of the fun, just follow the Soldier's Fort Standard and the possibilities are endless.
  23. I recently watched Castle In the Sky and was in a steampunky mood so I came in here looking for mocs, and found this. No comments? This needs some love. Seriously, this is a great MOC, your trademark technique with the hands looks great and the yellow is a nice contrast with all the brown. An interesting way of interpreting dragonfly, I was expecting a sort of glider but this is much more unique. My only suggestion is to add some weapons, it is a pirate ship after all. Great work!
  24. I know, but she's a beautiful ship which I thought would look great as a complete model next to your other ships. The current sinking effect is great anyhow, thanks for the explanation.
  25. Besides the plugs, I enjoyed them, and I wish LEGO still came up with these backstories/comics for their sets.
