  1. Thanks for posting game trailer. I've been picking the games up slowly and long after they come out so it is a great discount, but I almost want to get this one right away. I have yet to pay full price for one. I still have to beat Harry Potter and am almost done with the 1st Batman game. I don't know where I'll find the time to play LOTR, but that is the one I want to play the most! The polybags are really exciting, although I probably won't be able to find any around here. If it is available like the Kingdoms archer, I will buy up as many as I can. More than likely we'll get tons of the Frodo one, just like the Harry Potter (because I need more Harry figures) and the Uruk bag will be impossible to find.
  2. I entered the Toysnbricks mini-modular contest in March (I think), but I never got around to posting it on Eurobricks. Unfortunately, I won't be able to use it for the Modular Madness contest, but that gives me an excuse to come up with another mini building that is 10x better! I had a lot of fun building this. The mini scale is very difficult to work with at times, but then other times things just come together. It requires a lot of creativity and that is what I enjoy about it. I hope everyone enjoys these photos and hopefully there will be more Modulars (mini and/or Full scale) to come! First is a full frontal, er, I mean, a picture of the front facade. It has yellow flags, a mini street light, and a bench. Next is an angled side view. Followed by the other angled side. Next, is the back of the building. Not as exciting as the front, but it adds some of the same architectural idea. I like my tree the most A close-up of the front revolving door. Yes, it really revolves. It is a little difficult to get my fingers in there, but it is on two pieces that rotate. A close-up of the front archway and the roof detail. And finally, a shot of the whole street together! I hope everyone enjoys the pictures. It was my first mini-modular. I purchased the official set as the contest began. I was going to buy it anyway, but I needed a better excuse to make the purchase. I will definitely build in mini scale again. Comments welcome!
  3. That is spectacular. I've always wanted to use grill pieces for some building, but never knew how to utilize it. You did it perfectly! The white on white looks very good and not overdone. The squared bay windows are exceptional as well. I may have to borrow some of these build techniques for my own. Very clever usage. Keep up the great work!
  4. I guess this will be my official sign-up. Only posted 1 of 3 builds in this topic. Check it out please. Tusken Camp
  5. I only recently got into Star Wars Lego (and in general) so I missed out on the Phantom Menace CB. I decided to rent Episode II recently (and rewatch it for the first time since it was in theaters) to get some ideas for this CB. If you turn your head to the side and squint really hard, you might be able to make out who everyone is supposed to be. I hope everyone enjoys it. I may try to add on and build more scenes from other movies if these turn out okay. I will begin with the meeting of the Jedis with Chancellor Palpatine. I was only able to take a few pictures at first. I wanted to take more, but I will be out of town for the next few days and will miss the deadline otherwise. I may try to take some more when I get back and update it as necessary. As you can see we have Barriss Offee, Luminara Unduli, Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Mace Windu, Yoda, and Chancellor Palpatine. and a comparison movie shot per starwars.wiki Next up is when Obi-Wan visist Kamino and sees the clone army for the first time. Here is an overview of Lama Su, Taun We, Obi-Wan, and the Clone Army A close-up shot of Lama Su (or is it Taun We?), Obi-Wan (complete with orange beard!), Jango Fett, and young Boba. The Yellow Clone is the Pilot fyi. And finally the Tusken camp (before the berserker attack) when Anakin is searching for his mother Shmi. Overview of the camp complete with men, women, and children. From Left to right: child Tusken, man, woman with angled/curved body, Anakin, and Shmi in burial robes And a close-up of the mini Owen Lars' Zephyr-G swoop bike I hope these have been a little fun and/or interesting to look at. This is only my second CB, but I had a lot of fun thinking about ideas. Comments welcome.
  6. Per Brickset.com Cafe Corner 2007 Market Street 2007 (not official Modular series) Green Grocer 2008 Fire Brigade 2009 Grand Emporium 2010 Pet Shop 2011 Town Hall 2012 Hope that helps.
  7. So far released, Haldir is my favorite. Something about that color scheme works for me. And for some reason Pippin's torso is really awesome. I wouldn't mind using that for other scenes as well.
  8. Onatu I would also recommend Shelob Attacks and Cosmic Cube Escape. They have some great looking minifigures with some nice play value. Shelob is impressive, to say the least. If you aren't into LOTR, then your money can be spent elsewhere. I happen to really like the Car and Caravan set, but that is because it reminds me of one of my favorite sets as a child. I'm not a big Superman fan, but the Superman/Wonder Woman vs Lex Luthor set is neat. I didn't assemble the mech, but the figures are quite nice, especially Wonder Woman. There are a lot of great sets out there. I would recommend getting them all
  9. It is repetitive with 8 legs, but the end result is worth it!
  10. Thanks for the review. The set is definitely worth the price. It is the first LOTR set I received and I am very happy with it. My daughter loves Shelob. She always grabs it and pretends that it is getting me, even though she is terrified of insects in general (I know spiders aren't insects). The printing is amazing on the figures. I am much more impressed with Gollum than I originally was. And Shelob is a sight to see. You really have to hold her in your hands to realize the sheer size of her. I think TLG did a great job designing her. And I actually like the brown/black color scheme of the legs. The extra rings and stings will come in handy elsewhere I'm sure. Maybe that should be a new LOTR themed band. Rings and Stings. It will echo the Harry and the Potters.
  11. Actually, most of the pieces I have are from PAB or my own supply. I haven't bricklinked anything yet, but I'm sure I will sometime in the future. I am making modifications to suit my needs, but the overall exterior aesthetic will remain ultimately the same. And that is what matters most to me. I have heard others complain about the PDF instructions, but I have yet to have any problems reading them. They seem just as clear to me as other paper instructions. But maybe that's just me. I use these. Good luck on your build! I can't wait until I finish mine. I have put it on hold to do other MOCs and things.
  12. To respond again.. That is a great new Anakin figure. I loved the JSF version, but this one with another new face will make me want the set even more. So that means, I will need all 6 figures as I don't have any of the previous version (excluding JSF Anakin). And the set itself has some nice play features and bricks to use. I still agree the price is horrendous, but the set itself and the figures are quite awesome in my book. And Jedi robes probably can only look so different after a while, so to rehash existing robes might be silly. And for people like me who don't own any of the Clone Wars variants (nor do I want to), the new/same torsos and new non-CW faces are very welcomed.
  13. I have a few mini scaled sets done. I just need to get pictures and then post them. Hopefully today will be fruitful.
  14. While I am not that surprised that Lego ran out of the figures so quickly, I am more surprised they wanted to run the promotion for 2 weeks. Of course, they are going to run out. Either they were going to run out quickly for a 2 week promo or they would have a huge back-stock of the figure if the promotion was only 2 days like Star Wars. I can understand the SW promo more since you had a small window to make your purchases. If you spread it out over 2 weeks, I would imagine the promo wouldn't fare that well since everything would be scooped up immediately. This makes me glad I ordered the first day the promo started. Not that it would be the end of the world to not get it, but I wouldn't order from S@H without a promo. Best of luck to everyone on their purchases.
  15. sok117 I would go with the Vampyre Castle. It has a great selection of figures and a nice parts-pack if you wanted to mod anything. If not, the castle itself looks really neat with lots of great play features. I really like the hidden stairwell. And yes, the Man-bats are The Quinjet doesn't do anything for me, but some of the other Super Hero sets did. Maybe I'm not that into the Avengers after all. horizon I would recommend the Fire Brigade. Yes, it is going away first, but it is a really beautiful building. It was my first Modular last Christmas and really is a sight to see. The figures are cute, the fire-engine is beautiful, and you get a fire house dog! The ping-pong table and furniture are neat as well. The Pet Shop might allow more play value, which is important at this time in her life, but it would really stink to miss out on a set she may regret later. At least, the Pet Shop will be around a while if she changes her mind. I don't currently own the Pet Shop or Town Hall, but I will within the next year. All I know, the Grand Emporium and Fire Brigade do not disappoint, so I am sure the other newer sets wouldn't either.
  16. Nice haul! I would not think about prices and just be happy with what you are getting. Some good figures/pieces there that should be fun to play with, er, I mean build. We have the Catwoman set and the Friends sets. My daughter loves all of them and has lots of fun with them. The City of Atlantis was on sale here not too long ago, but I didn't bite. Not enough of things I want, but it looks like a nice parts pack/set if you're into that theme. We just picked up all of the Lord of the Rings sets within the last week, so I won't be doing another haul until September when the new CMF come out. Most of my spending was done the first few weeks of May for the promotions. Have fun with your haul!
  17. The 2010 HP sets are what brought me out of my Dark Ages. We got all of them for that Christmas. That Burrow is ama-zing! The figures are awesome. I do regret getting some of the Goblet of Fire/Phoenix sets, but oh well. I may try to pick up some of the figures, but they can be so pricey at times. On another note, I do miss some of the Ninja sets from the late 90s. I was in my Dark Ages by 1996, so it was long before I ever knew those existed.
  18. I buy sets for the figures quite often. That isn't my sole factor in purchasing, but it is a strong factor. Like others, I will look at the figure list and the piece list and see if it is worth it in the end. Big Cam had a great example for Hulk's Helicarrier Breakout. The exact same reason I purchased it was because Hulk was going for around $25, and Thor was around $12 (without shipping, mind you), so for not much more I could just get the complete set. Plus, at that time I wanted the mini-Hulk as well so it all worked out. Typically if you look at the figure prices and then the set prices, it isn't that much more to just get the set. I had no interest in the minifig line-up for the Quinjet and the set itself wouldn't be on display, so I passed. Black Widow isn't that impressive and Iron Man variant isn't that big of a deal for me. So, if I absolutely wanted/needed those two figures, that is one case where I would just bricklink the figures. The next example for me was The Batcave. I didn't particularly care for the set, even though I love Batman. I got Batman/Robin in the Funhouse set and did not care for the Bruce Wayne figure, so I need Poison Ivy and Bane, but I'm not going to spend money on the whole set for 2 repeats and 1 unneeded figure. But on the flipside, the new Palpatine's Arrest set will be great since I will need 5 of the 6 figures, so the overall cost won't be that much more than buying each one individually. Most of the time, figures end up being $6-10 (or more), so after adding it all up, it is worth it to me to just buy the set. But I do need a small push for the pieces as well. Extra pieces are always great and hopefully the set has some that I could use in a MOC. Unless the individual figure prices ever plummeted, I highly doubt I will ever change my practice of getting the full set instead of just the figure. I'd rather pay for the extra pieces/figures in the set (and support TLG directly) than save a few dollars from Bricklink.
  19. Not to post again so soon, but legolandia, you have to realize there are always new people getting into the theme and will want new figures instead of old versions. Even if just the head is different, that can change the entire figure. I only recently got into SW, so I have very little of the past figures, so this set will have all exclusive figures for me, which will then in turn sell the set for me. And looking at some of those figures only having a Clone Wars counterpart will make me want this set even more not seeing the giant eyes and weird face printing. But that's just me. Same goes for the new Jabba's palace. I don't have the old Jabba, but I would say the new version is a lot better, so I would be more inclined to get the new Palace instead of trying to get the older version through bricklink. Not to mention the new versions of other figures in that set. And again, the same goes for the Gungan sub. Yes, that price is horrendous, but I don't have any of those 4 figures, so that is more worthwhile in my book. Who knows how many other people are just now getting into the theme and will want these same figures. I understand having rehashes of the same figures over and over will dampen the excitement, but I am excited about these sets coming out this summer. I only just started getting SW sets within the last few months and I already have 4 R2s, so I understand not wanting yet another copy of the same figure.
  20. That is very interesting information. Getting a Marvel and DC license for Lego with multiple Super Hero movies coming out this year probably would flood the market with all things Super Hero. Most of the stores near me do not have that many Super Hero themed sets. Almost all of them have a lot of the Ultra-Builds, but none of the actual sets. And most don't have a spot on the shelf for them to represent them being out of stock. They just simply do not have any, so that is odd as well. I wonder if sales will be down and the theme will end sooner than expected (and I don't mean anytime soon). I'm sure it will last a while, as long as Super Heroes sell products.
  21. I actually like the Saesee face. Have you seen him? He is one ugly son-of-a-gun. I can't wait to hold this set in my hands.
  22. I originally would have picked the Blue Coats, but since the Red Coats have such a beautiful new printed torso and the magnificent Imperial Flagship, I must choose them.
  23. I was actually talking about these. The official one looks nice, but only holds 15 instead of 16 which is really silly on TLG's part. The case I linked to was widely available last fall and then they disappeared. I would never pay almost double from a 3rd Party Reseller. And I couldn't find them at TRU which is only a slight mark-up compared to the people at Amazon marketplace. Oh well.. The single display stand might be nice, but it does seem pricey to get enough of them to actually use.
  24. So the cape gets "ruined" by the packaging and yet it will still sell well I'm sure. Like Scubacarrot said, some people may like the shape of the cape being conformed like that. I, however, do not. I definitely would want more Elf figures, but I have no need or want for the other 4 figures in the case. And, substituting with less rare colors doesn't help me want them any more. In my eyes, they could have kept the Elf the same in every respect, but change the hair color to brown and I would have bought dozens of them to add some variety. Or, of course, change the color of the outfit. Zombies are released in Monster Fighters, but so are the Mummies, so that isn't a valid point. But I can understand/believe children would vote for these figures more so than some others. I won't be buying any and it sounds like a lot of others won't as well. We shall see how successful this is if they release any more in the future.
  25. The scale is ridiculously impressive. Now that the theme is out, just think of what they can do!
