Thanks for the review. It is nice to see it at different angles. If I ever see this I will definitely consider picking it up. It looks great for such a small scale. I don't love the rear of the build though, but oh well.

Thanks for the review! I missed out on all of the original Harry Potter sets (having emerged from the Dark Ages with the latest HP sets in 2010 thankfully). This set is very dark and drab, but that does add to the appeal. I do like how they can add the sets together to make something larger, even if it isn't that pretty to look at. Fluffy is great, but I still don't own him. That flute is awesome, but I bet it goes for a lot on bricklink. I will never get this set, but it is neat in its own right. Thanks again.

Thanks for the review. It is very informative. I was already planning on getting this set for the figures, but the review helps confirm any thoughts I previously had. After looking at the figures side-by-side, I think I prefer the newer Spiderman. It is a bit more blue than before, but I think it works in this case. And I do like the muscle outline being more bold in the new version because without a double, triple take I would not have noticed any muscle definition on the original model. I have yet to watch the cartoon and I have no desire to, but it does look like they got the source material down pretty well. Good for you, TLG.

I watched the new Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows yesterday. It was interesting for sure. I love the complete works of the stories in print and it was translated pretty well to the big screen. I do wonder how accurate some of the period pieces are though. I do wish TLG would incorporate more torsos/hats to go along with that time period though. Overall, a decent movie. 3.5/5 or 4/5. I doubt I would buy it to watch it again, but worth a watch at least once.

I love when people use Wiki to defend their arguments, since anyone can put whatever they want in Wiki without fact checking. That isn't to say there is some truth behind a lot of entries there. But I would think TLG is aware of their policies and their limitations. They may stretch the boundaries at times and be strict other times. But that is their business decision.

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm sure it is supposed to be bulky, so as to be more indestructible, but when it was on display at the Indianapolis Children's Museum when TDK was released, I remember it being significantly smaller in real life than one would expect. Much like Tom Cruise.. As far as the Lego tumbler, I like the larger look to it compared to the smaller scaled versions, whether they are more realistic or not. It's like the Batpod being miniature compared to the more detailed larger versions. I'll take the slightly larger more detailed version any day. By creating a camo-tumbler from TDKR, I wonder if any of the pieces used will be recolored for the first time. And I hope we can build a black version of the same size. -
Great funnies! The petrified Frodo face is brilliant for that scene.

That is a really neat build. I haven't seen that movie in so long. I've been too hooked on the Nolan movies I forgot all about the early ones. I may have to rent them soon. But I am impressed by that. I may try my hand at something similar just for some fun. Keep up the great work. I will check back often.

Cute build! I almost want to build something like this for my city. But I wouldn't mind trying my hand at a 6 wide version. Keep up the great builds!

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
TheLegoDr replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
You at least have large cities in Minnesota. I would almost have little doubt that Nebraska is actually last when it comes to releases. We at least have Omaha at 500k people, but still nothing gets put here since it is the (almost) dead center of the country. I have yet to see any series 8 around and they just finally got Monster Fighters sets in and the Orc Forge, if that says anything. I'll keep people posted if I ever see any. If I see them here, then I would expect them to be available everywhere! I'm pumped. -
Any instructions for this? This is beautiful. I definitely plan on building something similar for my classy citizens. Keep up the great builds!

Thanks for the list! This list really excites me because (until I see pictures) I only want the Rancor set. That means I can save up money for other themes since I know Super Heroes will eat up a lot of my budget. I would expect Ep II sets in the summer wave, but even then, not a lot of them. One would think they would release them with the movie release, but that rarely seems to be the case (Batman coming out in December when the movie came out in July. Unless they are planning to sell it with the dvd release, which may/may not work as well). I would have loved a Kaminoan figure, but maybe they will release one (or two) in a larger set (thus getting money back on a new mold). We need some Taun We and Lama Su!!!

Thanks for sharing. It is always interesting to see people's Lego rooms. I am impressed by the number of bricks (and MOCs built!). I always enjoy seeing the scale of your MOCs and now I can see the area in which it takes place. Whenever we finish my Lego room, I will have to show photos. It will probably be a while since the wife thinks it is more important to redo the kitchen and maybe get a new roof first. Sure, like that will come in handy .

I loved Batman Forever when it came out. Although I was 9 at the time, so probably more of the target audience. Now that I'm significantly older and the Nolan movies have come out, those are clearly the better films. But it doesn't take away from the fact that Forever was a fun movie, especially for kids. Batman & Robin definitely had its issues, but it is a completely different take on the Batman-verse. A lot more imagery and animated-style violence will change the overall feeling of a movie. TDKR was a brilliant movie, but it did have a completely different feeling than the other two. It was very gloomy and I think Nolan got his point across with it. TDK is the pinnacle of superhero movies (Batman especially), but the other two are great additions to the trilogy. I think overall that is the consensus. Begins, Dark Knight, and Rises are all three great movies that work together well, even if one is stronger than the other two. With that said, I think I am going to go watch Dark Knight again soon.

No surprise here: Historical! I always loved Pirates and Castle growing up and when I got back into Lego, I made sure to pick up the IFS and MMV (plus all the Kingdoms sets). So that theme still fits!! Thanks for the quiz. It's really interesting how the outcome can be, no matter what you think to expect.

What do you do with LEGO set boxes?
TheLegoDr replied to Robominer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Currently I keep/flatten all of my boxes just because I like the artwork. Certain multiple sets or themes that I don't particularly care for usually get tossed. I have the room right now, but I know there will come a time when I won't want all these random boxes sitting about. I do love the artwork though. I wish I had some of my earlier Pirates/Castle boxes from the early 90s. As far as instructions go, I have been keeping my newer sets in an accordion folder, but with all of the sets I currently own, they just pile up into a box. There is absolutely no way I could keep all of them in a binder/folder without taking up even more space than the bricks themselves. -
UCS Sandcrawler project has reached 10K supporters on Cuusoo!
TheLegoDr replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Congrats on reaching 10k! I'm not a die hard SW fan, so it would be highly debatable if I would pick this up, but the fact that it was made looks amazing. I would love to see it in the flesh, er..brick. Let's see what TLG does with this news. Keep up the great builds. -
SoF: Stephanie's Cool Submersible
TheLegoDr replied to TAFOL's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Brilliant build. A worthy entry to the contest. I really like the fish swimming and the background landscaping. And the vehicle definitely is a nice touch. I was trying to come up with something different for the contest and in no way would I come up with something this clever. Good luck! -
Some great funnies everyone! DarthPotato I really liked the last one. But I didn't realize on the first one how much better the non CW Saesee looks! Excited for that set. And (in my opinion) Even Piell looks more like Kreacher than Dobby, but I like what you were going for there. I do think Malgus looks amazing. I don't want to buy that set (even though it looks awesome) just for the figure, so I may have to bricklink him the more I see of him. Keep up the great funnies.

I want the figures to depict their characters as much as possible, but with Galadriel I wouldn't mind as much. Just seeing that figure makes me drool. I cannot wait for some new releases! Now to wait and see future leaks.

LOTR Project: The Return of the King
TheLegoDr replied to Nuju Metru's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Those are awesome recreations. I really enjoy seeing your take on the whole franchise and then seeing how TLG officially creates things. I can only imagine TLG reads message boards, not necessarily to get ideas, but maybe just to see what people are in to. And I would expect them to take a look at your creations and see how their own versions come to be. Great parts usage so far. I would fully expect the army of the dead to be in a sand green similar to your use instead of trying to create a translucent sand green figure. I cannot wait for Gondor shields! Keep up the great work. -
I love the look of the street using the bricks in that manner. I love the variety of buildings aligning said street. And I really love the look of the fountain and the surrounding street. I am unfamiliar with European towns, so I am not exactly sure how it would look/function in real life, but the area with the fire engine and tram pick-up, do the cars actually drive on the rails at the same time as the tram? It seems they run out of road at that particular area, so I thought I would ask. Either way, keep up the great builds! I will certainly come back to look at this some more.

The more I see this cottage, I am loving it. I wasn't expecting to like the medium blue walls with the dark green window frames, but I am really liking it. It adds a nice whimsical touch to everything. With that said, I do agree with Lord Insanity about the roofing. I actually like the all white roof, but I don't care for the heavy snow piles underneath the ledge. But I can understand why they did it because it does look like a big snowstorm hit, so kudos to TLG for that one. I don't mind how the updated versions Lord Insanity did with the non-snow covered roof, but I do think I prefer a completely snow covered roof. There is something about that all-white roof that I like. Either way, I am excited for this release!

I would call it a grappling hook as well. Batman needs his special themed gadgets!

Cute little build. I think it blends well with TLG official releases (I'm thinking of the stable back in the early 90s), but with a nice feminine twist. I don't care for the minidolls, but I don't hate them.
