  1. 5 sets I'd like to see in 2022 or 2023 (20 Years of AOTC, 40 Years of ROTJ) Endor Rebels Battle Pack ($14.99): Ewok catapult, Ewok glider. 2 Rebel Commandos (white & black), Ewok Warrior, Teebo. Speeder Bike Chase ($29.99): 3 Speeder Bikes, large tree, downed tree base. Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker (Endor Variants), 2 Scout Troopers. Count Dooku's Solar Sailor ($49.99): Count Dooku, Pilot Droid, Yoda, Clone Trooper. TIE Interceptor ($39.99): TIE Pilot, Imperial Officer, Stormtrooper AIrspeeder Pursuit ($59.99): Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Zam Wesell, Jango Fett.
  2. Y-Wing would make a lot of sense for Yavin, I do agree. As for RO characters, yes, Bail was in the Tantive IV, so perhaps Mon Mothma could be in a MBS Yavin, but I don't think they'd get too crazy beyond that. After all, Bail was a long-awaited character, and Mon Mothma could fit since she's the leader of the Rebellion. But I wouldn't get my hopes up for any RO specific characters. Add to the fact that we haven't gotten RO sets since 2017, so I don't see them releasing an MBS with that as a heavy figure base. Long story short: bar Mon Mothma, I don't foresee a Yavin IV set including any RO characters. Except the Sandcrawler isn't MBS. Only two sets are officially MBS: Cloud City and Mos Eisley. SO, the Sandcrawler is technically still UCS (has the seal and everything). Even so, I think an MBS/UCS Turbo Tank would be bigger than the UCS Sandcrawler. Going with how Lego does it's troop figures (never more than two for some reason, discounting battle packs of course), I suppose they could toss in the 41st Elite Camo Troopers they did back in 2014, but they've been slowly shying away from those. Or, there's always a couple of gunners for the tank proper. In other thoughts, I had an idea for the special anniversary set for ROTJ (in the vein of the Bespin Duel or Medical Chamber): Home One Briefing: I'd want to include a few extra figures, though, so here's my lineup: Admiral Ackbar, Mon Mothma, Crix Madine, General Lando, Han Solo, B-Wing Pilot.
  3. First off, welcome! Really good concepts, but not terribly realistic, I'm afraid. I'll break down with my thoughts: Yavin IV: I think we'd likely see either a downscaled X-Wing or Y-Wing not both. And any version of Yavin would most likely be ANH specific, and Lego usually doesn't cross films (UCS Falcon & Death Stars notwithstanding), so I'd only expect to see figures from ANH. A realistic figure selection would be as follows: Princess Leia, General Dodonna, Han Solo, Luke Skywalker (jacket), Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, Luke Skywalker (pilot), Biggs Darklighter (new visor face & helmet print), Wedge Antilles (Theron Nett head), Garven Dreis (new head), 2 Rebel Crew, 2 Rebel Troopers, 2 Rebel Honor Guard. Medals would be repaints of the Olympic medal, so Yavin Jacket Luke can be used for the comics version. MTT: No way we'll see so many B1 Battle Droids, but I think 20 would be good. Add in 2 pilots, 2 Droidekas, 2 STAPs, and a couple of Gungans (Jar Jar, Tarpals, and 2 Warriors). CTT: This would most likely get a UCS proper and not a massive MBS, so not a ton of figures. If they did decide to go this route, here's what I'd expect for the extras: Yoda, Luminara Unduli, Merumeru, Tarfful, Wookie Warrior (with helmet), Commander Gree, 2 Kashyyyk Troopers, AT-RT Driver, 2 B1 Battle Droids, B2 Super Battle Droid, Dwarf Spider Droid, downscaled Tank Droid. Agree on both points. In my ideal MBS Echo Base, we'd still get the new snowtroops but with the backpacks and kamas of the 2014-16 figures.
  4. Not even close. 2016 ones were the most accurate yet, with white caps, torso, and LBG hands & pants (with white printing for the "skirt"). Action Battle & the 20th Trooper had dark tan caps, white torso, and dark tan plain legs. They're not horrible (I still love the 2010 figures) but after Lego literally perfected the design, they screwed it up. Kinda like the Stormtrooper. 2016 , Action Battle I think Endor still makes the most sense, with perhaps some PT sets down the road (if they decide to go for one per film), but if they do decide to do Echo Base, my ideal set would keep the sliding gate, which leads into a fully covered building, including medical center, bunks, and Tauntaun Pen, with command center, and of course, the hangar. 2 transport carts, one Snowspeeder, a Laser Ice Cutter (the 2010 Battle Pack vehicle). Cut to the outside with a deep trench, including the snow bank behind the rebels, with 2 P-Towers and a DF.9 turret. Imperials get a speeder, e-web, and a downscaled AT-ST. There could be a shield generator or ion canon, but I'm not sure if that would cause an Assault on Hoth repeat. Minifigures: Hoth Han, Hoth Leia, Chewbacca (with snow printing, perhaps reusing the Solo mold), Luke Skywalker (pilot), Wedge Antilles, Wes Janson (all pilots use the UCS uniforms), General Rieekan, Toryn Farr, Bren Derlin, Trey Callum & 2 Hoth Rebel Troopers, K-3PO, Echo Base Soldier (Tan vest), 21-B, R2-D2, 2 Snowtroopers, Darth Vader, AT-AT/AT-ST Pilot, Probe Droid, Tauntaun. Trey Callum and his team use the 2016 outfits, with Bren Derlin and Echo Base Trooper being reused from Assault on Hoth (with new faces, of course), Rieekan gets a new face, and new prints, Toryn gets a new face (or more appropriate reuse) and more appropriate hair, K-3PO, 21-B, and R2 are all reused, with the Snowtroopers being the Action Battle/4+/AT-AT variants, but with backpacks and cloth kamas. Vader is his Final Duel figure but with blue square in place of the green (to reflect his ESB suit), the AT-ST could get an accurate pilot, or an AT-AT Pilot repurposed. Wedge gets the Theron Nett head, Wes keeps the standard expression.
  5. I'd love a proper Echo Base in MBS size. Even if they spilt it between the base and the trenches, I think it would redeem them. As long as the 2016 Rebels return. No more of those Action Battle figures.
  6. The way they did it in the Tydirium was fine. He doesn't need his armor. He doesn't have it in the film, in fact, that isn't even him in ROTJ (Google Nik Sant's Canon page), Dave Filoni admitted to letting both characters exist in the same battle. MBS/UCS sets have never mixed Movies with non-movie media for the figure selection, and I don't expect them to start anytime soon. I say leave well enough alone and do an Endor Rex/Nik Sant figure exactly how they did before. That way, he can be either character or neither. And this may be selfish, but I would want the commandos to look like they did in the films, which take precedent over any cartoon. Not like this they haven't. And as you said, $350 should be of utmost quality. I consider faithfulness to the films of higher quality than a non-canon figure design. If we get a GOA Rex later on, I'm all for it, but not in my hypothetical MBS Endor set.
  7. I stand corrected That seemed off to me too, but it never was exactly accurate to begin with, just a cool added detail for the officers, so I'm not upset to see it go. Not gonna lie, I'm tempted to gain some flight hours with the Gunship too
  8. Or an AT-AT to be based on ROTJ I almost feel bad for dogpiling but my dude, UCS sets have never been playscale sets. Who in the hell picks up their UCS X-Wing and swooshes like I do my RO Y-Wing? They're like statues in a way, sitting on display, not really meant to be touched but admired. UCS vs System is essentially Sideshow Premium to Black Series. Okay maybe more like Hot Toys to Black Series but I think I made my point.
  9. Isn't that like, the lineup I just listed? 4 bikes is a tad overkill considering it would be the same side build 4 times. Also, Endor Rex shouldn't hint at his clone armor as it's not in the movie (for obvious reasons), the headprint we got in 2015 would suffice. (Galaxy of Adventures is not canon nor does it trump what's in the actual film) Also, how/why does Han need arm printing? The camouflage pattern? I'd imagine that would be difficult to achieve at mass retail. As for Renz, I'm assuming the arm print is for the Imperial insignia, which I could see. The only new figures/updates we'd absolutely need/are likely to occur (be real here people) are as follows: Han in trench coat with dual-molded legs and his new hair (something that the 2015 fig didn't have), Leia (updated 2009 print with helmet), Luke (with poncho either cloth or printed, and helmet), new prints for Logray/Paploo/Teebo, new faces for the Commandos (One & Two), maybe a new face for Old Rex/Nik Sant. Update the Navy Troopers ever so slightly, and give them and Renz the patches, boom, figures done. Does it even matter if the figures are rehashes/remasters? It's a location that's severely underrepresented in Lego, and there are only so many figures that would make sense. Unlike Cloud City or the Cantina, there are no masses of random side characters for the minifig selection. And all of the best molds for the characters have already been made, so new ones aren't happening. That's not entirely true. The bunker may not be massive but neither is the Cantina honestly. A Cantina sized bunker could be cool, throw in a sizeable AT-ST and a few Ewok weapons (gliders, catapults, log traps) and you're set. Combining the Bunker with the village will just muddy the set. Either give us two separate models or one over the other, and seeing as how we already have an incredible Ewok Village, go for the bunker.
  10. I mean, I think they'd give us a remaster of 2015 Han (from the Tydirium) with the new hair, maybe dual-molded legs, Leia would be a (long overdue) update from the 2009 Bunker w/helmet, Threepio could finally get his silver bot, new faces on the commandos & Imperial troops, slightly better designs for the Imperial Navy Troopers. Other MBS sets don't have a lot of "highly desired" exclusives, just scene-specific versions of the main cast, and a few background characters (which are really for the hardcore collectors). But a bunker like last year's Mos Eisley would be so much cooler. Add in this year's (rumored) UCS AT-AT and that would be a banger display. It still could have a few trees and whatnot (and a chibi-scaled AT-ST like Cloud City's Slave-I).
  11. I was just thinking about this, and it makes a lot of sense. We've had one MBS from Empire, and one from A New Hope, the next one should be from Jedi. My ideal MBS Endor Bunker Assault ($349.99): Down-scaled AT-ST, complete bunker with a variety of interior rooms, such as a command center. Ewok Glider and catapult, and two speeder bikes. Minifigures: Han Solo (Trenchcoat), Princess Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, Luke Skywalker (Endor Hat and Poncho), Lieutenant Renz, Wicket, Logray, Paploo, 2x Rebel Commandos, 2x Stormtroopers, 2x Scout Troopers, AT-ST Driver, 2x Imperial Navy Troopers (Death Squad Helmets). Maybe throw in a Commander Rex/Nik Sant figure and another Ewok for 21 figures (same as Mos Eisley and Cloud City).
  12. Yes and no. I don't think questioning Lego's choices is ever entirely unreasonable, but in this case, people are getting unreasonably angry over something that was a given (No Phase II Cody/Jedi Bob). I understand questioning the lack of pilot/Yoda/Anakin/Obi-Wan/Padme/Clone Trooper or any mixture thereof. But at the end of the day, it's a small piece of a larger puzzle. And y'know, the reference pictures. And the fact that the Gunship is most iconic in AOTC, just like the X-Wing, Y-Wing, and ISD for ANH. And the fact that there's never been a ROTS version by Lego, I could keep going.
  13. "I mean, you told us, 'We want this, we want it to be reasonably big,' and I hope that not everybody will now say, 'No, I don't like the minifigures,' or 'I'm not buying it because I don't like that brick there.' (which is an absurd complaint, even in theory) So yeah, I guess if you want to see more sets like this, go and buy it." How can you possibly spin that as genuinely joyful? It's very matter of fact. It's also not entirely unjustified due to certain elements of the fandom (MandR) and their near-endless complaints. It's not a joyful, "You asked, we delivered". I get the feeling that they knew what was going to go down, and, instead of simply promoting the sale, they decided to take a pot-shot. It's unprofessional at best. Not saying it's unwarranted (clearly it is), but from a PR perspective, it can come across as attacking the fans. But, that's just me. If they were truly passionate with the set's development, then good on them. However, don't act like these aren't you know, company reps or anything. As we all know, companies never feign hype to save face. Of course I'm not saying that's the case (I don't seriously believe it is), but assuming that it's genuine can also be a mistake. Man, you are the king of bad takes. 13. Profit? Most of these are erroneous, but I can agree with 6-8 (8 only partially, though). Also, Ryan is his own worst enemy sometimes. Didn't he reveal the set before the official livestream or something? I think cutting ties with him is good on Lego's end. I think David's a better youtuber overall, but that's just my opinion.
  14. Exactly. I really hope this set succeeds, but I'm sort of worried just because of all the trivial dismissals it's been getting. I for one want actual UCS sets, because that's what I'm asking for/asked for with this set, which I received. Even as someone who's only been a casual admirer of UCS till now, I am confident when I say I want more Prequel UCS sets.
  15. Oh, I agree, on both points, but that's the way things work. So, I won't be colored surprised when or if the Gunship fails and the subject is dropped in carbonite for a few years. I also think you make a great point about representing a whole. MandR and his hordes don't speak for all of us who voted for the Gunship, all of us Cody stans or Jedi Bob disciples, so this narrative of "They don't listen to the fans", while occasionally true, is not representative of this situation. I for one think that prequel UCS sets are inevitable, and most of us know that (even said pompous designers). This is exactly why I said their "threat" is shady. Even if it's just a fact of business, they should've had the professionalism to bite their tongue. Instead, it sounds more like a Mafia-type deal than a simple "Hey guys, if you guys buy this set, there'll be a million more well on the way! " Same message, different tone, different attitude. See directly above. Also, read the interview again. Does that sound like a guy who's just excited and chomping at the bit for more PT UCS sets? Or like a dude who's just beyond fed up at this point? Tone and attitude change the same words into very different sentiments. My issue is solely with how it was said, not the quote itself.
  16. I would like to point out that clone pilots (especially Episode II pilots) have very limited options for use outside of Gunships, Dropships, and maybe AT-TEs. Which, at this point I think most Phase I era vehicles would be released with Phase II clones. I would love to be proven wrong though. "It's more prejudicial than probative!" "It speaks to the pattern of behavior, Your Honor."
  17. I don't think you understood me. None of the past three $100+ Gunships had a pilot period. 2002 had 4 Clone Privates, 2008 had Clone Trooper and (Phase I) Commander Cody I'm correcting myself mid-reply, but I wanted to leave in my original thought process. You are correct, 2013's Gunship did have a pilot. I was wrong on that.
  18. Christ, this is getting ridiculous. On the one hand, yes, the figure selection could have been better. On the other hand, the figure selection is acceptable. To those saying Lego did not listen to the fans on the figures, anyone who voted for Phase II Cody and/or Jedi Bob absolutely deserved to have their hopes dashed. Complaining that they aren't in the set is childish whining, and I'm probably one of the biggest Cody fans there is. Add to the fact, I personally voted for three figures: Yoda, Clone Pilot, and Clone Trooper. Because in my opinion, those three figures made the most sense scene-wise, and would fit with the purpose of a UCS set Intended For Display, aka, they'd look pretty dope on the plaque. Yet, somehow, despite my voice "not being heard", I'm okay with the figures chosen because they still fit with the set. I will grant some of you that a Clone Pilot was essential, and not including one was an incredible oversight, and the rationale behind the designers not making one is actually pretty disrespectful ("No one can tell the difference"? Oh come off it). On the other hand, how many fans would be strangling themselves because of an exclusive helmet mold at $350? Love the set or hate the set, agree with the minifigs or don't agree with them, but this argument is tiring. Also, I think I didn't properly articulate my views on the "threat" of "Buy it or else". I do completely understand that Lego is a business, and businesses want/need to make money. If a product doesn't perform, they'll be less likely to revisit the idea. That I'm 100% on board with. But the designers came off as incredibly condescending and unprofessional, and don't seem to have much passion, which is surprising considering just how good the model is (bar a few issues). I say that to say this now: 30,000 people claimed to want a UCS LAAT/i Republic Gunship. 30k people, who of their own free agency, consciously or subconsciously, knew what that entailed. If they wanted a new system-scale set, they could've asked for one (it would've been yet another annoying campaign but I digress). But no, they either misunderstood or intentionally misinterpreted what it was they were voting for. Now that it's here, a grand sum of these same 30,000 people don't like the set, and will refuse to purchase due to W, X, Y, & Z. Not because of "can't afford" or "don't have the room", but because of 7 pieces of plastic in a 3000+ piece set. Now if this fails, and Lego proceeds to ignore the PT for UCS sets for the next decade, please don't complain. This is exactly what we deserve. The fan vote was essentially a focus group. What will sell? What do the fans want to see? So they asked us, we responded and they delivered. If the final product flops, who's to even say they'll ever trust a fan vote again anytime soon (as in, the next 5-6 years)? I have severe issues with Lego and Disney when it comes to how they handle Star Wars, and usually I will be one of the first to criticize them (I think most of you know this), but this is one of those rare occasions when a set is just shy of perfection. To see the actual beauty of the model brought down due to the minifigures? Come on guys. The biggest disappoint of all will be a lack of sales and thus a lack of similar product moving forward. I apologize if I come off as angry, but this is just getting really frustrating.
  19. I mean, not even the system-scale gunships have proper pilots (included that is), so it tracks.
  20. There was no way in hell the Gunship was going to be $200. That's absurd. I love this ship, I voted for it, and it's everything I expected, even more so, considering how they rendered certain details (never would've expected the rotating missile belts, or the ingenious build of the gun pods). It's a friggin' behemoth of a vessel, and in keeping with relative scale to other UCS ships, its size (and thus its price) is not unwarranted. Also, can we stop acting as if we'll never see another system-scale gunship? It'll come eventually. And finally, I'll keep saying until someone takes notice: This UCS vessel (in all its oversized-ness) is now cheaper than every prior minifig-scale version. In addition, I think that it should be relatively easy to cut it down to size should it be a huge issue. I understand not being skilled in/wanting to moc the set, but still, its an option. Besides, they've already said in no uncertain terms: this is it, buy it or that's all folks. Which is quite shady, I must admit, but I'd rather not keep getting the same UCS sets recycled once the OT list hits the wall.
  21. I only really want/need two PT UCS: ARC-170 & Venator, with Trade Federation and CIS ships later on. They are probably running out of OT options outside of a few Rebel craft, so I expect we'll see more PT sets by default. If I had to make a shortlist, this is it: ARC-170 ($249.99-$299.99): Odd Ball & R4-P44 or Captain Jag & Plo Koon AT-TE ($349.99): Yoda, Clone Captain (Deviss) Venator Star Destroyer ($699.99): Republic Officer (Captain Needa) and Phase II Clone Trooper I'd absolutely love to see a Droid Tri-Fighter too, to see how its curves are done. Wouldn't really have good figures, maybe accurately built (UCS-scale) Buzz Droids instead? For MBS, Petranaki, maybe Kamino, Jedi Temple (if they ever would), Theed Palace.
  22. 100% agree. I'm gonna make room for this. I've never gotten any of the system ones, and this one is far cheaper than them now (ironic). And I don't think the animated look is that bad. If we can accept the 501st clones, we can accept this. I was prepared to lose the 2014 print since last year, we should've seen this coming. And I agree, it helps to unify the design. Well, maybe David was wrong, and there'll be plenty to go around on release day.
  23. When is this due out? August 1st? Can it be tomorrow? Absolute beauty of a vessel, the top cannons look a little off, but still just, wow. And a huge troop bay, ready to be filled with the legion of your choice (501st for now, since that's what I have the most of). Mace Windu and Commander Ponds, who I'll need to take a closer look at, are okay choices. If Ponds is flame-orange-yellow (like the 2013 212th Trooper), I may be okay with that, since everyone thinks it's more yellow than orange anyway, and is a great color overall. First day purchase. I've never had a Gunship and the wait has finally paid off (crazy how this is now cheaper than the retail versions).
  24. Mace Windu & a Yellow Clone "If what you say is true, then you will have gained my trust. " I've been saying it since day one: Pilot, Yoda, Private or Pilot, Mace, Commander was the only way to go. And if we had to sacrifice the pilot for Ponds, I can live with that. Or maybe Ponds for the pilot, but where's the fun in that? Yes. I forgot about that one. The AC is technically a variant as well, with an all-black head (for some reason...) I still say orange will replace the traditional maroon. It's literally the only way they can screw up color-wise. I don't see them doing dirt stains.
  25. Correct. V-19, Venator, AT-OT/Dropship and the 2011 AC.
