LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it's actually pretty good, and he makes a point no one else noticed: the Gunship's official description mentions Star Wars: The Clone Wars, even though they clearly mean AOTC. Which is funny, but kinda lazy ngl. Though a TCW version with closing doors would've been *chef's kiss* -
That bow is remarkably clever! That sucks , I bought one off Bricklink forever ago, so if I decide to get the shuttle I can have a go at it. Also, does anyone know if Brickarms made the Commando Blaster? Or a similar alternative (not into CAC weapons).

Guys, I was joking... But in all seriousness, businesses often experience a disconnect with the "Hardcore" audience. They rely mainly on the ride or die fanboys & the content casuals (in both senses) to provide their profits. Hardcore fans make up a small yet passionate fraction of the fanbase, and so we want the things that casuals do not. Ironically, businesses somehow fail to understand that exposure can lure in casuals as well. While it might not be as well known as an X-Wing or TIE Fighter, who wouldn't want a cool three-seater starfighter thingy? Or a large playset with a ton of troops? Also, burnout is a thing. I'm starting to hate the OT with just how "overrepresented" it is, to the point where you have to think long and hard about what isn't out/won't be out for a while. And with Disney hellbent on shoving as much Empire Era content down our throats, Lego and other licensees will have to follow suit. And before you all start: I get that the OT is the most popular and arguably best trilogy, and I love the Empire and Rebellion as much as anyone, but please... Solo, Rogue One, Episodes IV-VI, Rebels, The Bad Batch (in spirit at least), The Mandalorian, All but one or two of the upcoming Disney Plus shows, About 2/3rds of the comic series and novels, all of it focuses on the same stuff. Sure, we have a couple of Clone Wars and Pre-TPM novels, TCW, and of course Episodes I-III, but um... actually there's no comparison. Don't even get me started on the video games... All that off my chest though, it makes sense that some fans will always be at odds with Lego. Some of us more than others. -

Hell no. If LEGO even attempted to pull that crap for the RC helmets, I'm going full boycott. That's a type of laziness that's unforgivable. Why would you even suggest that!? EDIT: Amending my knee jerk reaction, I can see where you're coming from, but I still feel like that'd be unforgivably lazy. We've seen way too many shortcuts to new molds, and it's starting to get tiring. Give the Commandos the respect they deserve, and the new mold they deserve. We haven't had a proper new clone mold since 2014, and no Tech doesn't count. -

I thought Endor was the next logical choice? It's either Endor, Jabba's Palace, or Jabba's Sail Barge. That said, 2014's Sandcrawler would be a tad soon to see a remake, far as UCS/MBS sets go. Weren't they in Republic colors though? At the absolute least they were plain grey, so they'd be easy to refit into Republic-era fighters if need be. -

That's likely because they're dual-molded, most of the details are part of the mold and not printed. -

The new helmets have grown on me, but I can't say I'm terribly excited for any set they're in, which is a shame. The old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" never made it to Denmark I see. Seeing the mortar trooper especially reinforces just how much I miss the old mold. -

One appearance is enough for me. Plus, I can use them for personal storylines which feature rogue Imperials, a Legends-inspired Sequel Trilogy, or any number of cool ideas. I want them all. Also they were absolutely en masse, so it wouldn't be too out of place to army build them. (Better them than say, Crosshair's squad) 2x Phase IIs, 2x Phase Is can make for an epic pack, maybe toss in a Commando in the V-Wing and call it a day. -

Well thank you all for making me discover the least toxic twitter of all time. And come on, now, mustache rebel is iconic! But in all seriousness, I do hope they go for a full complement similar to the UCS Falcon. General Veers, 2 AT-AT Drivers, 2 Snowtroopers (though these better have the packs and kamas), possibly the Snowtrooper Commander. And for $800 kriffin' dollars, can I at least remotely wish for a to-scale snowspeeder? It probably won't be much different size-wise to the normal ones we get, but a quick google search of MOCs makes me think one could be better detailed at least. -

I'm not entirely opposed to downsized sets, but I'd like to continue regular sized models as well (this year's TIE did not benefit from the shift). As far as more OT sets, I'm still quite partial to ROTJ sets (Another Imperial AT-ST, Endor Rebels, Jabba's Gang), considering that it's still the film that gets the least attention from Lego (OT at least), but I feel like a MBS (or two ) would handle that film quite well. TIE Interceptor, perhaps another B-Wing, ROTJ Falcon? As for Empire, nothing stands out to be made, and shrinking the Snowspeeder will just make the model worse imo. But I still want/need a GR-75, so I guess I'd like to see that, oh and a TIE Bomber. A new TIE Advanced & Y-Wing combo would do nicely, but I'd like for Lego to not neglect the rest of Gold Squadron (Pops Krail, please). Only problem is that since the ST copypasted so many original models, anything we get from the OT will feel like a retread. As for the Prequels, anything to get Phase II Cody would be welcome, even if they're avoiding him like the plague right now. And I guess new troops to command while we're at it. And if we can get the Star Corps updated, I'll be a happy camper. I could take or leave any of the Disney stuff, but I guess I'd want an Omega figure, but that's about it. Anything else would have to fit nicely with other Clone Wars stuff (read Phase II Clones). Maybe a couple of S2 Mandalorian sets, but I'm afraid the ship is sailing on that until season 3. -
I recently learned that most toys take around 18 months from development to market, though that's usually action figures, I believe. Three years is also a common development time. While there are often exceptions to the rule, if I recall correctly, Lego general has a design & development period of about 2 years, so that would track. Of course, I don't know if there are any public documents that would outright specify when the license deal was signed, 1997 doesn't seem too much of a stretch, especially considering most merchandise would've started development at that time. There's also the fact that unlike today, where new movies often work heavily off of concept art, the sets & figures from the Phantom Menace (and subsequent episodic films) are very accurate to what we have on-screen (well, accurate by 1999 standards at least), so it's likely Lego had a ton of finalized production to work with. EDIT: Correction, I believe it's three years total development, 18 months from production to market.

The Sand Serpent model is amazing enough, but I love that desert setup, especially the dust trails from the AWEs. Great parts usage and color schemes too. -

That Spider-Man is just built different! Also plan for the WandaVision figures and Captain Carter. Good parts/figures overall, but just not interested in the rest. Baby Gator is going in the Zoo though. -

I looked up still shots after my previous post and came to the same conclusion. Like I said, it's likely a lighting issue. I've been of the same opinion since 2013. I love those figures precisely for that reason. -

Winter Wave (January/March + May UCS) Imperial Clone Troopers Battle Pack: 2x Phase II Clone Troopers, Clone Shock Trooper (with pauldron), Elite Squad Trooper (ES-02) Endor Rebels Battle Pack: 74-Z Speeder Bike, Ewok Glider. TIE Bomber ($59.99) TIE Pilot, Stormtrooper, Captain Needa. Republic Attack Shuttle ($69.99): Phase II Clone Trooper, Crosshair, Elite Squad Trooper (ES-04), Hunter. Airspeeder Pursuit ($59.99): Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Zam Wesell, Jango Fett. And while I'd love an Endor MBS, I'm warming up to my previous submission: Battle at the Sarlacc Pit ($349.99): Main build is Jabba's Sail Barge The Khetanna, 2 skiffs, and a Sarlacc pit (bigger than previous renditions, allowing for more figs to be "swallowed". Both skiffs are relatively the same, about the length of the 2012 version, but around 2 studs wider. Open floors on both, with only one of the skiffs having the plank. The Khetanna has Jabba's main chamber, with a piloting station, a kitchen, and a cell. Top deck includes four rail-mounted cannons, and the deck cannon. Minifigures (21, like both current MBS, plus Jabba & Crumb): Luke Skywalker (Grey tunic), Lando Calrissian (Henchman disguise), Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia (Bikini), C-3PO, R2-D2, Boba Fett, 2 Gamorrean Guards, Vizam, Ree-Yees, Pagetti Rook, Weequay Skiff Master, Mercenary Pilot, Brock Starsher, Pote Snitkin, Saelt-Marae, Tessek, Kithaba, Klaatu, Jabba the Hutt, Salacious B. It's yellow flame orange. Just like the Lieutenant isn't just blue (but more of a teal), I think the commander has an orange tint to the yellow striping (likely due to the orange surface/lighting of Geonosis) It's probably a lighting issue. Which I find funny, since the 2013 212th Trooper (from the MHC) was criticized for "not being orange" (used this same color), now Commander Ponds is "too orange". Like what? -

Great list! Would snap up most of the sets here, especially that Swamp Speeder and ARC-170. I too love the 2014 style the most (technically 2013 too, since the Phase I clones debuted that torso print). I for one would like another Kashyyyk Battle Pack, but for the normal scouts (and the AT-RT Driver of course). I currently have 6 of the 2014 ones, and would love some more. -

I was thinking about having a sort of "Jedi Battle Pack" which would include the likes of Tarados Gon & Sarrissa Jeng, maybe add Pablo-Jill & Roth-Del Masona and boom! Perfect add on for the Arena. Then later on down the line we can get Bulq, Tassu, and the Rodian in another random AOTC set. So many characters, so few opportunities... One more MBS for now: Wookie Village ($349.99): Includes an Ewok Village type central build, using dark brown and dark green as the tree colors, with some nougat for wood. Includes the command tower with holotable, AT-RT, Wookie Ornithopter and Catamaran. CIS Tank Droid and Dwarf Spider Droid. 14 Heroes: Yoda, Luminara Unduli, Commander Gree, AT-RT Driver, Tarfful, Chewbacca, Merumeru, 2 Brown Wookie Warriors, 1 Dark Brown Wookie Warrior, 2 Helmeted Wookie Warriors, 2 Kashyyyk Clone Troopers. 7 Villains: Battle Droid Commander, 2 Super Battle Droids, 4 Battle Droids. -
