  1. Beautifull house. The colors gives a very calm look and the chimney adds character. That little baywindow? at the front really adds to the realism. Didn't even know it was possible to build in those colors. And that ..dormer?.. is great. I recently experimented with something like it. Dosn't look to me like you need any help with roofing at all . I'm glad you found my series usefull. And about rebuilding stuff - I do the same only digitally.
  2. Depends on the building I would say, and the style. I can say this though: Corners with plates is difficult but possible (not to plug myself, but click here for an example). This one of Henrik Hoexbroe is quite nice. This old thread is a good inspiration as well. You can get quite far with standard roof pieces. No shame in that : ). The creator houses looks quite good I think. I don´t see any regular houses on your flicker. If you got them, I would definately like to see them : ).
  3. If it wasn't for LDD, I would never had bought anything from LEGO. I design in it, and aquire parts. Around 50% of these comes straight from PAB. The parts already in it provide a solid base for models, but with all the new parts that have ben released these last few years, it will be difficult to explore new ideas. Some of my best ideas has come from simply browsing through the parts and experimenting.
  4. Availibility of bricks in specific colors, had a major influence on choice of all colors. Not planning on a layout no, I don´t quite have the space.
  5. Right before the comments on MOCpages, where it says "Building instructions"
  6. I think this series of houses could be inspirational to the people of eurobricks as well. It consist of six houses in creator like style, featuring full interiors and special building techniques. Each house is built around the following guidelines: 1: A footprint no larger than 32 by 32 studs. 2: Buildable without a baseplate. 3: Features a bathroom, bedroom and a combined or separate entry, living room and kitchen. 4: Bathroom entry cannot be through the kitchen or living room. 5: All furniture is attached firmly if possible. 6: Roof is built mainly from plates and is removeable. 7: Stairs (if any) are 4 studs wide, including guardrail. #1: Afternoon Retreat #2: Scandinavian Townhouse #3: Rectangular Symmetry #4: House-N-Garage #5: Bachelors Abode #6: Normandie So if you feel you have difficulty building houses, let these give you some ideas. I have included LDD files for all of them. They range from around 800 - 2000 bricks so there should be something for most people.
  7. Wish I had time to properly comment on all these cars. The lower part of the front bumper - the brick used for the corner - I always finds gives too much of a truck look, but here it looks just right. I suppose it has something to do with the fact, that its further back than the upper parts of the front. Interesting.
  8. Mad Physcist did a similar scale photo for his creations. Direct linking to flickr pictures is beyond me so I will just link to the post https://www.flickr.com/photos/23494394@N04/5776471147
  9. Thanks for the recommendation ER0L. Here is a few of my favorite builders/builds: Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk1 by maxster1 kasper 6-5-4 wide coupe / cabrio (CC) by Bas Wijkstra 1957 Chevrolet Corvette by Chris Gwailson, who also have some other nice 6 wides. Evil car by Henrik Hoexbroe, lots of other cars as well. Minivan by Spencer R. Oran "Chrome" Cruzen have a lot of 6 wide creations as well so be sure to check him out too.
  10. I am working on some houses in the 800-2000 piece range with full interiors in creator style sizes. Interiors is definately possible. Search for "lego furniture" for best results.
  11. Just a warning to potential users out there, from someone who uses a similar program: Check each store before buying for special requirements such as "1 euro per lot" Check the language of the page, is it full of errors and bad english? Chances are you´re going to have trouble communicating if something goes wrong Check selected lots for special requirements such as a need to buy in multiples of x2, x10 etc. Check selected lots description which will often contain words such as "yellowed", "playwear" which you might think twice about before buying Buying from several places will cost you in postage. Consider buying straight from PAB where shipping is free over a certain amount.
  12. Probably the most beautiful supercar ever made. Those blue tubes holding the front together...it looks like they have been cut. Might that be what you are refering too?
  13. You can still buy them directly from Lego PAB or in packs.
  14. Have not read the whole thing, but there is three major benefits to using PAB: Reliability: You will get exactly what you ordered 99% of the time and everything will be in pristine condition Free shipping: If you order enough. This is key to saving money, as shipping usually is 30% or more of the total price (when I buy on BL) Best average prices: Bricks can be found cheaper on BL, but on average, PAB gives you a better choice. There are no overly expensive parts (for the most part).
  15. They get loose over time, but how much wear before they become loose I cannot say.
  16. I would probably skip on roadplates entirely and look into making something from supplies from the model railroad community or buy some cloth/carpets and make something from that. Something akin to what Lego do themselves when marketing sets like http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/a/a9/60042-1.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20131111002025
  17. There are some things you can do in LDD that dosn´t work IRL, like enclose a headlight brick or having brackets touch the studs of the plate its attached to. Which bricks are you referering too exactly? There are many types of hinges. The ones with clips on always have high friction.
  18. Yep I got it, thanks for testing it out L@go. LDD will not snap to both openings, but it looked to me like there was space for 2 studs in it. antp: That could maybe be the reason.
  19. I love jangs reviews, because he shows the models from all the angles I wondered about when I saw the box and highlights interesting building techniques and features. Also he is very calm and his enthusiasm shows though.
  20. I do not have this part http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=11010 I was wondering if someone could verify if its possible to put a stud in from both the top AND the bottom and use it to reverse the direction 180 degrees?
  21. Quite a lot of interesting design in these builds, that I havn't seen before. My cars tend to look a lot more bland, but then we have our different styles and maybe thats a good thing . Looks like we are getting some new wheelarches and windows for cars in 2015. Very interesting.
  22. There have been one-offs over the years like hotrods and stuntcrews, but there did use to be a few more sub themes like the postoffice, which I guess is becoming a rare thing these days and racers which still gets sets now and then. There was a discussion a while back, about how few actual houses there have been in the cityline, and I did wish it was a yearly thing on line with the emergency services. The creator line does make up for it a bit, as well as the modular buildings. Lego also sells buckets of pieces some are roofpieces, doors and windows specifically. Or you could go for pick-a-brick if you really want something specific. Thats my only gripe with Lego, I really wish their PAB online shop was easier to use and had a wider selection. The kits are made to show whats possible, and provide something interesting. Agreed, move diversity would be welcome. They did make a mining theme recently though, but there are plenty of material to tap into. Construction would be one. Someone said that there wasnt much focus on adults, but I belive both the modulars and the architecture line was created for AFOLS - the NXT and Lego robots too is definately aimed at AFOLS.
  23. Not to hijack Ben Cs thread here, but do you have any pictures online of that? Would love to see it . As for tips, I´d say look at as many layouts as you can on flickr, brickshelf etc. At some point you´r going too see something you like, and then slowly form your own idea of what you want in your city. If you already have that and want advice on realism, well, thats a subject for itself. There are two things to consider in realism: 1. How does different sections interact, and how do I plan them? That is downtown, suburbs, industrial etc. You could spend hours and hours on this reading books about it or just copy something from reality. If it was me, I would think about it in a historical perspective, how did it start, what happened when the railroad appeared etc. 2. Details of one section. Like street lamps, trash cans, sidewalks etc. I think this one is easier to do really. Also, even though its tempting, dont try to do everything. Skyscrapers are going to look strange in a small town etc. unless its all downtown.
  24. If you can make use of any of the LDD files, I´d love to see what you can come up with . I think I am inclined to just do regular versions of any future cars since its cheaper and easier to do (aquire the parts). Could do LDD police versions though, those are free . The panel idea from the first car is one I´d like to see explored some more. Piece no. 59349, 1x6x5 wall element could possibly be used as the base in a larger car.
  25. Go ahead, thats the main reason I put the LDD files on my page . I think any windows on the lower hull would interfere with the interior. I used one of the sides for cabinets:
