LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I found the alien - Look at the full set image in Brickset’s review; lower right side (Star Trek Beta Quadrant); at the top of, and about halfway through, the blue spiral arm. The alien is a lime 1x1 round brick with printing, so it is quite likely to be the sticker sheet design. Hopefully it shows up somewhere else, or at least ends up on PAB in a few months. -
Marvel Superheroes 2024 - Rumors & Discussion

I can see that, along with a black recolour for Venom. -
Cole’s mech is gorgeous, and I really like the leg design! That said, only one Minifig (who is pretty mid in comparison to the others in this wave) is an absolute joke - Why did they not just throw a few of the Wolf Mask warriors in as enemies? The combo vehicle has a cool design; similar enough to the Raider to feel connected, but not just a rehash. Sora does look a little silly perched on the back, though. I love the tournament arena! It definitely looks like something that can connect to the large tournament temple city, but is also a good complete set on its own. Also, the integration of the duelling feature is excellent. As for the Minifigs, the Ninja look great; I like that they have been giving the OG six nearly identical team suits (as it makes them look more cohesive), while Arin and Sora have more unique ones. Also, ToE vibes! The Wolf Mask warriors look cool and scary, and the red Shatterspin armour is a nice addition. Evil Jay looks great as well, and Tox is a nice surprise - I fully believed that she was another character misidentified! Cinder is the only one who I am not overly fond of, as he looks bland when compared with his S2a set/show counterpart; I also am not happy that the Shatterspin armour is not dual-moulded or printed. One thing that I am wondering about is Sora’s arm - I thought they established that it was not a prosthetic (just armour), but then why does she still have it in her sleeveless tournament suit? 🤔 I forgot to mention: Those are shorter katanas (shotos?), and they are being used alongside the regular ones (so the original mould is not being replaced)!

OK. It would seem that dark orange’s PDG arm is a prosthetic, then, since he is the only person to have an arm in that colour.

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

I that LEGO may not be producing airtanks in white right now, so reintroducing them in the correct colour for the alien pack would constitute a change. For the diner, the Minifigs need to be able to sit, and there does not appear to be any space to store spare airtanks. 🫤 -
That looks really good! BTW, can you confirm whether the left arm is black or pearl dark grey?

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

The return of B2s was unexpected, and could not be guessed from the name of the set; a large Death Star set is going to include Tarkin. -
That looks good - I really wish that the BAM parts were included in the regular sets!

71046 CMF series 26: Space themed!

Must just be weird luck, then - At least there is not a distribution problem! -
Exactly! Also, the video could have concluded with the kids being shown the new sets, and maybe playing with them alongside the classic ones (to emphasise the 2024 line as a continuation of the Space theme).

Is it possible that the X-wing is not based on any specific paint scheme, but instead includes the parts and stickers/prints to make a variety of Canon designs? The double cheese slopes on the nose should be easy to pop off and swap around, so I can see LEGO taking advantage of the new design to include a customisation element. -
Ah, OK. 🫤 Could you take a picture of the new BAM torso with the City Space legs (also from BAM), though? This: Top row far right torso, top row middle (or far left) legs.

The GWP Spacebabies are meant to represent Microscale versions of regular CS spacemen, so they get the non-baby face prints. As for diner and alien pack, I think that LEGO is going for a sort of Neo-Classic vibe. -
Not exactly, though I do like the armour on the CS white spaceman; it looks very Neo-Classic! I wanted to see how the new BAM armour looked on the 2024 City Space astronauts, as well as how the 2024 City Space legs look on the new BAM torso.
-
Star Wars is a license, so it is a different case compared to City. A better comparison would be Ninjago, which did actually get a Castle wave (basically Fantasy Era 2.0) with Master of the Mountain.
-
Nice! If you have the other astronaut colours, would you be willing to share pics of them with the new armour? Also, I am curious to see what the legs look like on the new Space torso.
-
Probably because data suggests that sales would be better if the sets were marketed under the City line? Alternatively, LEGO may not have a free slot for a major new theme this year, so the sets that they wanted to make got shuffled into existing themes. The reason I want a standalone Space theme is longevity - City subthemes generally last for a single HY (Stuntz was an exception), while full themes are planned to last for at least three years (with two waves per year, though the third year may only get one).

I like it; while I would have preferred dual-moulding for the visor (or separate new helmet and visor moulds), I do wonder if it will end up being more reusable as a printed single-colour part (I can see a recolour in black with lime, yellow, or red visor print for a Blacktron remake). BTW, is anyone else having difficulty finding the pink Spacebaby and robo-nurse? I managed to get a few dozen total from two different stores, but no Spacebaby to be found! I would ordinarily think that they had been picked-over, but I pulled five Ice Planet explorers so IDK. -
Not really; the box art is as futuristic as any past Space theme, and the planet being explored is clearly unlike any in our solar system. Technically true (the sets are part of the Space subthemes of City and Friends), but this is really splitting hairs and reaching in order to make the argument that LEGO cannot make a Space theme. It is certainly weird to see future astronauts and aliens in City sets, but I am not complaining - I am more concerned with the sets themselves than with how they are marketed!
-
I am not sure that anyone said that, did they? Maybe, though I still wonder why the video features old sets instead of the new ones. Kids obviously would like the new sets (as they passed LEGO’s focus testing), so the only reason that I can see for the emphasis on old sets is that LEGO intends to bring Space back as a full theme. If Monkie Kid truly is on its way out, then a slot for a story-driven sci-fi theme is opening up - Perhaps Space will be the next “Big Bang” theme? 🤔

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh, you may have just solved it! Tarkin in a Death Star playset is hardly worthy of a Renown hint, and the hint itself points more towards someone like Pershing than Yularen (the only reasonable brainwashing-adjacent option for the DS1 playset). We know very little about the X-wing vs. TIE Fighter set, aside from both ships getting their respective pilots; making it Mando-based and giving us Carson Teva as the pilot (among other Mandoverse characters) would draw in people who already have the 2021 sets! As for a lineup, considering that the set is $100, we can expect 3-4 Minifigs and an Astromech: Carson Teva, Astromech Droid, New Republic Trooper, TIE Pilot, Dr. Pershing? 🤔 I just hope that if we actually get Pershing, he will have his S1/S2 Imperial scientist uniform, so that we can make purist Mount Tantiss scientists! -
Is It Possible To Reintroduce Old Sets?
Classic_Spaceman replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Copying here what I posted in the 2024 Space Sets thread: This definitely feels like a tease towards more Space content in the future, and since most of the sets from 2HY are accounted for at this point (and none of them are traditional Space), could we be getting a proper Space theme in 2025? 🤔 -
All true. That said, the fact that LEGO made and released the video makes me think that they intend to keep Space around; if not, then the video both advertises long-retired sets to children and trolls AFOL Space fans. Little Easter eggs in promotional videos are one thing, but this is very pointed (the kids even say "Bring back LEGO Space!" at the end!).
-
I believe that we have seen most if not all of the 2HY City set listings, and none of them are Space (jungle is the 2HY exploration subtheme), so the BAM parts are probably the last of the City Space content that we are getting in 2024. 2025 is another story, though it would be too soon for LEGO to release more sets based on sales data (if Space sold unexpectedly well), if they did not already have them in the pipeline.

Awesome! Would you mind posting some pics of the Minifig with white airtanks in place of the armour?
