Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Classic_Spaceman replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I would be interested to see all four options ranked, since I wonder how much the votes will be split. For the CS spaceman, gold is the most visually distinct, so I can see it winning because the non-gold votes get split four other ways (gold is the most popular on the Brickset forum, and tied with dark azure here). For Castle, we might see the new-and-different side split between the kraken and griffin, with the give-us-faction-variants side voting for the crow. That said, the kraken is the visual standout among the heraldry options (and the top pick on Brickset), so I can see that winning for the novelty. My rankings: 1 - Griffin, 2 - Crow, 3 - Bull, 4 - Kraken That is quite unlikely, since I assume that LEGO has budgeted for a new printed shield. -
Useful Pirate Pieces from other Themes?
Classic_Spaceman replied to ZCerberus's topic in LEGO Pirates
I wonder if LEGO is planning to include a new pirate Minifig (rather than just reused parts), but as you said, it is more difficult to vote on the design. I would like to see an Ironhook update, as well as a redcoat (very easy to make, as the current bluecoat design can be printed onto a red torso without any changes). -

IMO, whatever faction wins will not feature in any subsequent sets (aside from maybe a shield), since I think that LEGO wants exclusive Minifigs for the prize machine set. I suspect that no matter the faction, we will just get a palette-swap of the basic Lion/Falcon design. I doubt that LEGO has the budget to begin developing a bunch of faction-specific parts for options that may not win. Looking at the Classic Spacemen, all need three changes/SaPs (helmet, airtanks, torso print), so I suspect that the budget for the Castle Minifig will be similar (torso, legs, shield). I am not holding out hope for any new helmet, armour, or weapon pieces (though I would love to get a flat silver recolour of the DnD Dragonborn’s armour!). -

See, this is why I was torn - I want new factions, but I also want generic soldiers (or variants, like the Black Falcon archer) for established factions. -
LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I went with gold and the Ravens/Crows. It definitely has an anniversary feel to it, which is why I picked it. That said, I doubt that LEGO will ever make one-per-box chase figures again, so this is likely not a cancelled design. -

I went gold Spaceman and ravens crows. I have been wanting a gold Spaceman for some time as an anniversary figure (we could have gotten one in the CMF), despite it not being the most useful as a division colour. For Castle, I was really torn between the griffins and the crows - I prefer the griffin design (and would have gone with it, had the crows not been an option), but the chance to get a potentially massable (via PAB) followup to a great CMF was too good to pass up! I do hope that we get some of the unmade designs at a later date, though, since the griffins are excellent and the bull update is nice as well (the kraken is a bit more DnD in its design and colours for me to see it fitting seamlessly beside the classic Castle factions). -
Something else - Blacktron II was officially called “Blacktron Future Generation”, which (retroactively) fits with a transhumanist faction that is focused on evolving themselves. Blacktron II’s vehicles also have interestingly organic-looking cockpit pods (like the faceted eyes of an insect) - Maybe they started their biotech experiments with their ships (reverse-engineered Zotaxian Insectoids tech?), then later started doing the same to themselves?

Could Simpsons line of Minifigure series or Sets return?
Classic_Spaceman replied to Vitruvius's topic in LEGO Licensed
I find it interesting that two of @TandNbricks’s April Fools leaks are actually coming true - Maybe the joke was that they are all true? 🤔 LOTR returning in 2025 seems probable, as the theme has been getting large D2C sets for the past few years. Endor is long overdue for a remake, so that also seems plausible. Indiana Jones returning feels unlikely, but I can see LEGO reworking the theme to focus on large display sets over playsets. -
I doubt that we will see any Flashpoint or CoIE arcs anytime soon, since the reason those stories work is because the status quo of the main universe is known (this is why doing Flashpoint while the DCEU was barely developed was stupid, and bringing Keaton back for nostalgia purposes does not sell the alternate timeline as the “bad” one!). Yes.

Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
Classic_Spaceman replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Apparently, the Maleficent dragon was originally going to be a display set, but was downgraded to a playset; I am assuming that the display version was what we saw in the survey leak. -

Thrawn looks perfect, but I am not holding my breath for him to actually have dual-moulded legs. I can see it happening, as they are in production (thanks to Harry Potter), but it is still unlikely given how Imperial officers have been treated in non-UCS sets before. -
It is! 👍 For some reason, the head with stubble looks better with the dark tan torso. My plan is to use the City torso and CMF head as an update of the desert design, and the CMF torso and City head as a jungle variant.

Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The 442nd has lime/bright green markings, not dark green. Also, the camo Clones were always 41st (Gree’s unit), and we see their dark green marked variant in TCW (Green Company). We also see a grey-marked variant of the 41st in RotS at the staging area on Coruscant prior to their deployment to Kashyyyk. IMO, BF2 should have used that version, but there is precedent for dark green 41st Troopers. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

They absolutely need one, but I think that the best we can expect is a few X-Men characters in the next Marvel CMF series (whenever that happens). 🫤 -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Classic_Spaceman replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Considering that the reception to the last two anniversary costume party CMF series has been largely negative (not regarding the actual figure designs, but the choice to do costumes over throwbacks), I would not be surprised if LEGO did something else for the upcoming anniversary. Additionally, out last costume series was in 2022; considering that we got the Space Series 26 roughly one development-cycle later (which could be better (Blacktron II legs!!), but is still overall excellent), I think that LEGO may be listening to us. -
The problem with this is that it would basically double the number of new prints (and probably some recolours) needed for the theme! The only way that I can see this happening is if we got yellow Minidolls (or Minifig torsos with fleshie hands), and Minidoll version of existing Minifigs pieces.

Exactly - Thanks! Could I also see the City head and OG hat with the CMF torso and legs? This is the definitive modernised Johnny Thunder, IMO - At least, until LEGO finally gives us a proper updated hat!
-
Can I see City head and torso with CMF legs and original hat, and City torso with CMF head and legs with original hat? Thanks! 👍

LEGO Star Wars 2024 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Classic_Spaceman replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
We already saw him, and he is very much Human (and the droid face looks rather villainous). Also, I think that he is on the ingot on the left side, second person down. Apparently the trailer shown at Celebration (IIRC) shows that character with eyes, so not a Miraluka. -
That is for the included battery.

That droid looks similar to the KX-series (though not exactly). I wonder if it will be the obligatory droid sidekick, or an antagonist? 🤔 I hope that we get some new moulds for the kids’ hair (the one with the eyeband needs a mirrored version of Empress Beatrix’s hairpiece). -
Interesting lore bits that I noticed: - Wanda About is streaming from the space station, so this actually seems to take place in the present day (or close to it). - Marc and Jane’s destination is called “Planet X”, which suggests that they are still in our solar system (and the transport shuttle that they use does not seem to have FTL capabilities). - The crew has access to the purple batteries before discovering that the alien crystals can be used as a power source - But since Severin knows about the crystals and since the robots are already on Planet X before Jane and Marc arrive, I assume that the researchers had already scouted the planet (especially since Jane and Marc were sent to start building a permanent base). - I am wondering if there is some kind of psychic aspect to Planet X. Jane and Marc are able to see the crystals and plant life only when they are in a relaxed and playful state of mind; when they panic and are actively looking for the crystals, they cannot find any until they are guided by the blob aliens (who are surprised by this). Also, Marc’s “repurposed golf club” gag lends credence to the idea that there is some aspect of imagination to Planet X.
